Would anyone with a copy of AAC care to explain to me how Blanka got himself registered for the SF2 tournament?
I have a very weird theory concerning Remy.
When I was looking at his sprite (the RRF mostly), I realized something.
There’s no way in hell he can achieve flexibility like that if he’s taking after Guile or Charlie. Both of them never really turned into a WHEEL (Use the SRRF to finish an opponent and you’ll probably see this frame) for god’s sake. In fact, the only character flexible enough to do that in all SF is…
Yep, you guessed it, Vega.
However, there’s something akin to a snowball’s chance in hell for it to be that, so I’m just saying that in case we need to explore other possibilities concerning an overlooked 3S character.
interesting, i was thinking about the remy-guile connection too.
guile’s projectile is called SONIC boom
remy’s projectile is called LIGHT of virtue
the power comes from different sources
i think that’s good evidence to show that they have no connection
Checked out a thread with win-quotes from the US version of SFA3 Advance at Gamefaqs, and here’s something interesting:
Yun [vs. SnH Ryu]: “What happened to you?! Your evil intent will consume you!”
Okay, now Capcom USA’s got Crawfish using the mistranslated name! <bastards :bluu> But anyway…
Does anyone think Yun and Yang could’ve learned about Satui No Hado from Gen?
Personally I doubt it but I can’t tell for sure.
Is SFA3 GBA worth getting at all? It’s released here now as well, but I already have the PSX and DC versions, and I hate the GBA and would prefer to play it as little as possible.
Any new storyline or neat info to read?
Crawfish was so kind as to translate the specific character to character win-quotes for the new characters (or they didn’t realize the others were cut out. Or… something). Yun, Maki, and Eagle also have beginning bios, though Saiki already stated them here earlier (and they’re in the plot guide consequentially). You can get the character to character win quotes from a thread at gamefaqs.
…in essense, unless you want to play as Yun, Eagle, and/or Maki against other SFA3 characters in the SFA3 engine, I don’t think there’s any reason to get this one. It’s also pretty watered down in terms of music and sound effects, and there’s no two player dramatic battle.
Here’s the link to that thread, BTW.

EDIT: You can also check the FAQs over there for new boss listings.
To my surprise, SnH Ryu is actually Yun’s second mid-boss, so there might be a little story significance there. Something else that struck me as funny is that Fei-Long is not listed at all as a boss for Yun. And of all the newbies, Yun’s the only character that has to fight the Dolls.
Without dialogues to go with the battles, the only ones that make sense to me are Maki vs Guy and MAYBE Yun vs Juli and Juni (teen brothers vs teen sisters. Yea, J&J aren’t blood related but their relationship seems to be a sisterly one).
I suppose maybe Eagle vs Sagat, too, since Eagle would remember Sagat’s power from the SF1 tournament.
Was Zangief’s sub boss changed to Eagle?
Maybe Eagle’s also looking for Shadowloo and they just crossed paths with each other. . . Just my opinion.
Um… the names of the moves have NOTHING to do with their “power source”. Unless of course, the name of the move has something to do with Chi.
You see, almost everyone in the Capcom uses Chi for their attacks, or at least to “back them up” with more force than normal. Even the godly players like Akuma and Oro use Chi, although in enormous and lethal amounts. The only people that use different “power sources” than Chi are:
Gill (Fire and Ice for the most part, Chi in minor doses)
Bison (Negative Chi/Psycho Power)
Necro (Electricity along with possible Chi)
Q (Possibly, what its alternate power source is, like itself, still a mystery)
Also, fact that similiar moves have different names has nothing to with relationship factors either. I could rename Ryu’s Hadouken with the name Lighting Ass Cannon, and then rename Ken’s with the name Flaming Breast Destroyer. And they would STILL be the same thing.
That is all.
There are different ways to utilize chi to use a projectile, I believe. Guile’s sonic boom, for example, is different from the hadoken in that it uses chi to create a force that allows Guile to create a sound wave. Or… something like that, I recall. Saiki has stated before that Remy’s method of chi for his moves are different from Guile’s, though. Don’t think he stated the exact properties of Remy’s projectiles, though.
Tiamat said it better than I did: even though their power comes from the same source, it’s used differently. I just worded my post poorly
So all you meant to say is that Remy’s possible relationship with Guile is undermined by the fact that he instead manipulates the light spectrum instead of the sound barrier?
Okay.
Er, yea, I guess so. Mostly just spouting random tidbits from memory that I think might pertain to the topic quite… er, randomly
Oh yea, forgot to mention. Yun could conceivably fight Evil Ryu even though Evil Ryu is a what-if character because Yun’s trek through SFA3 isn’t exactly the most non-dream-match thing in the world. He even implies himself being from the future in some of his win-quotes, such as mentioning that he’s from another era, and being surprised at what Chun-Li looked like when she was young. …guess this pretty much confirms that Yun (and Yang too, prolly) know Chun-Li, then.
I imagine Capcom’s basically just goofing around with him just like they did with Alpha Guy and Alpha Cody in Final Fight One.
Capcom seems to be putting characters through time-travelling. What next, Captain Commando being sent back to torch M.Bison?
So do you know if Yun’s appearance in Alpha is canon? The way you describe it, it seems like it’s not. That would make sense to me, considering the whole age factor. Although Eagle and Maki could fit into Alpha without causing any problems.
H’yeah, it doesn’t appear to be canon to me as far as I can tell, though I don’t consider that sort of goofing around a bad thing if you showcase it like that. Yun’s just there for fandom anyway, so why not take full advantage of it, y’know? I mean, he’s not Axl Low in GGX, so even if didn’t happen, it opens up to all sorts of amazing possibilities.
Oh, speaking of Yun vs. Evil Ryu: his win-quote does indicate that he learned about SnH from somewhere, and Gen’s the only possible source of wisdom concerning this. I suggest someone check out Yun and Yang’s Japanese boss dialogues with Shin Akuma in Double Impact so we can expand on that.
Yun vs Shin Gouki
Yun - "You…now you’ve made me really mad!"
Gouki - “I am one who has master the fist…Learn how powerless you are with your own body!”
Yang vs Shin Gouki
Yang - …I sense an incredible amount of chi from you… Who are you!"
Gouki - “I am one who has master the fist…Learn how powerless you are with your own body!”
