But the US 70’s TV series didn’t have anything scary in it that I remember. It was very much like the Hulk TV series minus the serious tone and such.
OTOH the 70’s Japanese TV series, that I can see scaring someone because it was it was filmed like an old KR series complete with the violent, exploding monster death scenes.
PMed me about it, after all the booing he didn’t feel like posting anymore I guess. He’s got some good knowledge, it all got a little too heated about the SGS soul thing.
I don’t think it meant to be scary but it’s scary how it looks (weird, bad, whatever).
Actually, I thought that was just Capcom correcting/retconning an earlier mistake. Like they did when they changed Demitri’s height and weight.
Almost ALL of Capcom’s official weights, especially for Street Fighter are hilariously wrong. Bison weighing 80 kg would mean that he should look like SF2 Vega - very thin. 96 kg is much more reasonable, though it’s still laughably light for his Zero frame. I weigh 96 kg (albeit at a height of 190 cm, a few inches taller than Bison’s 180 cm), and I’m shaped like Vega. To match his size, Zero Bison should be weighing about 120 kg.
But I digress. Another reason I don’t buy the bulk difference, at least based on the official weights given: Why do all his post-SF2 “thin” appearances (CvS1, CvS2, CFJ, etc.) list him as weighing 96 kg as well?
That reminds me: We need to get on Capcom’s forums and get Ono to get full profiles (height, weight, etc.) back again.
We don’t really know if it’s a lost in translation thing, because there was a Tokusatsu Spiderman episode released in the movies, as in, released in the movies but not on television, which was part of the series and called “Spiderman” like he said it… You won’t find it in the English Wiki, they left it out, check the Japanese one for more info. It’s like, what ‘God.Speed.Love’ is to Kamen Rider Kabuto, or what ‘Hibiki and the 7 Demons’ are to kamen Rider Hibiki.
But I don’t want to speculate further on what he means when he says that. So either he was using Eiga loosely as “moving pictures”, or he was literally talking about the Spiderman episode which was released to movie, or he was talking about another movie which like you said was a television series released overseas as movies…
Nope, it’s not a mistake. He had swollen stats for the Zero series and thin ones for SF2. When and where were Demitri’s changed? I haven’t seen any source say anything other than H: 197 cm and W: 101 kg.
Not all of them. CvS1 and CFJ gave him his thin stats to match his thin sprite, but I can also verify (since I have the guide) that CvSPro gave him his swollen ones instead. That was an inconsistency, as was his MvC2 art despite his game sprite. Just out of curiosity, can Sano and others see what stats he had for other crossovers? CvS2, and any of the Marvel’s if such info was provided? Just to see Capcom’s track record.
Okay, never mind. Seems I was wrong. My Gamefan VH and VS guides (both of which were true to JPN sources) listed Demitri as 179 cm, 101 kg, which seemed about right to me since his DS sprite always seemed a bit short. I thought they increased it to 197 cm after the fact at some poin because 179 cm was too short for his character, but I just checked AAC and they only list it as 197 cm, so never mind.
Anyway, I have the official guides of CvS1, CvS2 and CFJ, and they all list his weight as 96 kg. And my XSF, MvC and MvC2 guides don’t list any height/weight info, sadly.
So they have a real problem with crossovers, from guide to guide, and from official site to official guide even. Wow. Guess I now feel somewhat relieved that I didn’t find any new info concerning Vega from crossover guides, and somewhat dumb for ever thinking that they would have any at all.:looney: Wish Saiki was here…
I don’t know about in other ways, but where’s the problem here? All the cross over guides (wait: there was a guide for CvSPro??? WHere???) have the same information for Bison’s stats: His height, weight and 3 sizes are consistent throughout. I’ve never seen a non-SF2 source that listed Bison’s weight as 80 kg. The only left to check would be the SvC CHaos guide.
Or wait: What does the Revival guide say? Or the Yoga Book Hyper? Though the latter (both?) may just repeat SF2 info.
ADDENDUM:
As an example of Capcom updating a character’s dimensions, look at SF1 Sagat (213.5 cm, 119kg) compared to post-SF1 Sagat (226 cm, 109 kg)
Okay. I wasn’t aware there was a movie also. Though both you and Hcparker bring up good points. Yeah, I’m sure there’s no one we can ask for certain either way though the series you’re talking about sounds more plausable.
Anyway, there’s a problem because the CvS1 Official Character Book lists his thin stats, while the CvS1 Official Guide you say says otherwise. His stats for Capcom’s CFJ page are his thin ones, verified in Sano’s and my CFJ quote translations faq since that’s where I got them from, while in the guide you say again are his swollen stats.
I wouldn’t even bother with SvC Chaos, except out of curiosity. I wouldn’t rely on Capcom’s listings for SNK characters any more than I’d rely on Playmore’s for Capcom characters.
Revival gives everyone their SF2 stats, including Vega, 80 kg. And yes, SF1 faces brought back for the Zero series have been subject to redesign. The only place SF1 stats were revealed was the SF1 Game Simulation Video, so nowadays those stats are only somewhat useful for SF1-only’s. AAC never even included them.
Bottom line, character stats have remained the same for SF2 titles, and consistent for Zero titles. Unlike for crossovers, I’ve yet to see any mix-and-match scenarios.
Wow that’s stupid. Well, I guess the only way to know for sure is if they release profile data for SFIV. >:|
re: CvSPro book
Damn, I can’t believe they made a guide for a game that lasted all of a month, maybe two at the most. I might have to add that to my next list of books to get if I find it cheap on Yahoo Japan.
The report on Abel is now up at CJ’s SF4 blog. Once again, previous profile with added tidbits.
Abel- Man Without a Past
Likes: dogs
Dislikes: edible oysters
Special Skill: sewing
On the basis of merely a clue, a young man continuing to pursue the remnants of Shadoloo. He uses fighting techniques appearing to be from army training. Non-courteous at first glance, not that he dislikes people, a highly serious careful personality. Has lost his past memories.
His MMA style uses judo as its foundation. He enjoys keeping up with latest goings-on within the fighting world, as shows his winning quote to Zangief: “You’re Zangief eh! I’ve seen, your bouts!”
He’s labeled as humane among street fighters. His homeland appears to be France. He’s sewn the uniform he wears, and is likely good at cooking as well. Cannot stand to eat oysters; I wonder if he’d eat escargot though? He’s glad that he can be a pet (dog not cat) owner now that he’s done with the corps. He was a mercenary but can’t be sure if he’s had a connection with Shadaloo since birth.
I hear they’re also going to reveal the date of the next, and last, loketest.
If there are going to be any major characters/surprises left, this is their last chance. Unless Capcom is going to take the chance and have untested hidden characters (save maybe Akuma), which I doubt. Could they actually be going with these 16 as the final roster? I hope not. I’m still hoping for 4 more playable characters, not counting last boss or Akuma.
