Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

So this is where my email went.

I never thought that this thread will be resurrected.

Nice to see this thread again.

Just some random Otakuness - In Animericaā€™s latest issue, thereā€™s an article entitled ā€œSex Celsā€ in which the writers and editors of this magazine have compiled the hundred sexiest females and the hundred sexiest males in Anime and Manga. Cutey Honey won for sexiest female and Vampire Hunter D won for male. Anyway, hereā€™s the order the video game females appeared -

Morrigan
Chun-Li
Mai Shiranui
Sofia (Toshinden)
Cammy White
Felicia

An interesting side note - Cammy was about twenty steps up from the character she was inspired by - Gally/Alita.

If anyone cares, for the males it was -

Geese Howard
Terry Bogard
Ryu
Andy Bogard
Ken Masters

As for Top Ten sexiest Anime character designers, (The winner was the artist for Wicked City and Ninja Scroll) Shuko Murase (SFII the Animated Movie, Darkstalkers) was number three and Masami Obari (Fatal Fury, Gowkaiser) was number four.

Got another question, what is the rivalry with Hugo and Alex, and Makato, and Ibuki?

my guess is that hugo and alex are just big arrogant rasslers, and they just feel threatened by the other

makoto is a teenage girl with next to no social life and dress in a very un-fan service like manner. ibuki is a teenage with a social life and boyfriend and she wears western clothes. theyā€™re just opposites. some have speculated that ibuki killed makotoā€™s dad, but i doubt it.

Welp, I was looking through Lantis SF3: Double Impact quote list again, and I decided to share some of them. These include win-quotes that reinforce things that are already known, some boss battle dialogue and character specific win-quotes that may bring up some interesting new points, and special Super Art finish win-quotes that emphasize on the nature of the Super Art used to finish your opponent. They may prove most valuable, providing they arent mistranslated or butchered from the original versions of SF3.

Super Art Quotes:

Alexs Super Art quote with Boomerang Raid:
**ā€œWith an ending like that, Iā€™m quite happy with my performanceā€¦ A combination Super Art finish!ā€ **

Ibukis Super Art quote with Yoroi Doushi:
**This is Ibukiā€™s favorite super powerful move! Did you enjoy it? **

Judging from these, Super Arts are referred to as Super Arts by the characters themselves and not just for players to call them as!

Ryus Super Art quote with Denjin Hadoken:
ā€œDenjin! The electric bite of the Thunder God cannot be stopped!ā€

I REALLY dont know what hes refering to as a thunder god. Itd better not be himself because he even acknowledges that hes far from being a perfect fighter. I hope Saiki knows something about this.

Oros Super Art quotes with Yagyou Dama:
A dream, a phantom, and an illusion. Thatā€™s the meaning of Yagyou-Dama.

It doesnā€™t strike you, yet it still drags you in. Thatā€™s the secret of Yagyou-Dama.

This says it all. The super is an illusion extracted from Oros mind. Its even expressed by the start-up of the move where Oro touches his head and pulls out that ball of imagery. The thing that still puzzles me though is how he can manipulate the hyped-up version of the Yagyou-Dama in Third Strike where he jumps up in the air and throws it with both hands. It doesnt look as if hes dreaming it because of the way he exerts himself.

Uriens Super Art quote with Tyrant Slaughter:
My body is as hard as iron! My ultimate attack mashes like a cannonball!

This explains why his body makes that clanking noise when he blocks an attack. You see him boasting about it all the time in Second Impact.

Gills Super Art quote with Meteor Strike:
ā€œDefeating me would mean leading the world to destruction. Accept your divine punishment!ā€

Just a direct reference as to what Gills true intentions are.

Dudleys Super Art quotes with Corkscrew Blow:
Corkscrew!!! It has the destructive power of a hurricane!

The Corkscrew was a perfect finisher. I did not think you could withstand it.

I dont know if hes just exaggerating on the power the move, but it is something to consider.

Winner vs. Loser quotes:

Oro vs. Akuma
"Hmm? I think I met you somewhere beforeā€¦ Is it just me? Will you tell me?"

An interesting possibility.

Alex vs. Urien:
**ā€œI thought you were my arch-rival! I guess I was wrongā€¦ You resemble him so closelyā€¦ā€ **

This confirms that Alex never met Urien until SF3, if at all he did. He only heard about the one who beat him from Tom.

Urien vs. Ken:
Your ā€˜burning handā€™ reminds meā€¦you shall suffer.

I guess Urien hates anything that reminds him of Gill.

Ryu vs. Yun in Second Impact:
**ā€œYou posess great ability at your age! I have rarely seen such potential. Only once beforeā€¦ā€ **

A reflection of how skilled Ryu considered Sakura to be.

Ryu vs. Yun in New Generation:
ā€œChinese artā€¦ That reminds me of all the strong opponents in the past.ā€

Ryu vs. Yang in Second Impact:
**ā€œI hold the art of Chinese Kung-Fu in high regard. Excellent performance!ā€ **

Another good reason why Chun-Li appears in Ryus SFA3 ending. He even gives Yun a pat on the back for his Kung-Fu prowess in CvS2.

Ryu vs. Elena:
**ā€œYou have a nice bounce in your body! Itā€™s wonderful!ā€ **

Proof that Ryu isnt asexual like everyone sees him. He does like women, though a love interest is not a top priority for him.

Ken vs. Elena:
**ā€œA lady like you should not act so violently!ā€ **

Hah! Maybe Elena isnt all friendly as she looks after all! Lol!

Hugo vs. Ibuki:
**ā€œWhoa, what is this stuck in me? Thanks for the gift!ā€ **

Hugo vs. Dudley:
**ā€œYou can only tickle me with your punches. A professional wrestler can withstand much more.ā€ **

More details that give the extent of how high Hugos tolerance for damage is. You cant pierce him with a knife and not even the worlds greatest light-weight boxer can phase him. Amazing.

Elena vs. Yun
**ā€œItā€™s O.K.! Take it easy! Itā€™s no use crying after losing the battle!ā€ **

Turns out that Yun can be a sore loser. This quote doesnt sound like an insult either.

Boss Dialogue:

Ryus end-boss battle with Ken:
**Ryu: "Kenā€¦ Itā€™s good to see you! Long time no see old friend!"
Ken: ā€œRyuā€¦ You havenā€™t changed! You know the drill; letā€™s do it!ā€ **

Ill assume that the fact Ken is Ryus final boss indicates that Ken lost to Ryu in the tournament.

Ibukis end-boss battle with Gill:
**Ibuki: "You have something that doesnā€™t belong to you; hand it over!"
Gill: ā€œOf course. But only in exchange for your life, Shinobi girlā€¦ā€ **

 Does this imply that the G-Project was STOLEN by Gills organization? Hmmmm.

Uriens mid-boss battle with Alex:
**Alex: "You know a man named Tom, donā€™t you?"
Urien: ā€œWhat was that?! Never mention that name around me!ā€ **

As is the case with Alexs Vs. quote to Urien above, he most likely didnt know Urien before SF3. This does raise the possibility that Tom was a former candidate to have fought for the position Gills currently in. It even looks as if Tom mightve been the one who beat him.

Necros mid- boss battle with Ibuki:
**Ibuki: "Are you that stretching cyborg? Tell me where to find your boss!"
Necro: ā€œHow about I charge you with electromagnetic power instead?ā€ **

I dont know where Ibuki couldve gotten information suggesting that Necro is a cyborg, but it does explain why he can attack with electricity.

So what do you all think?

Grenade Falcon - My favorite quote on that sight is when Ken tells Ryu - ā€œItā€™s time you settled down and raised a family. Maybe Iā€™ll help you, my friend.ā€ I always thought Ken gave up on Ryu hooking up a long time ago and accepted him for who he was, until I read this. Oh well, we all know Ryu will probably remain single for the entire SF series, but at least it seems heā€™s not antisexual as you pointed out - thanks for that.

Agreed.

Maybe Ryu is implying that he somehow channels the power of the Thunder God when he uses the Denjin similar to how Dhalsim uses the power of the God of Fire?

But I thought as of 3rd strike theyā€™re quotes indicated theyā€™ve NEVER met before.

Alex vs.

I donā€™t know about that, he maybe just be compliementing her on her Fighting skills, especially considering Capoeria depends a lot on the motion of the fighter. If Ryu has knowledge of her fighting style (likely) then heā€™s probably just saying she is very good at it.

Or maybe Kenā€™s surprised at how effective Elenaā€™s fighting style is?

I somehow doubt Ibuki is referring to the G-Project, I donā€™t think a ninja clan would be interested in genetic research. Maybe Gill stole something from them?

The more I hear about Tom the more it sounds like he WASNā€™T a candidate to the head of the organization and more like a member of a committee that selected the leader or an advisor to someone with that power.

I agree with almost everything you say GF, except where I indicated.

When does Ken say that?

Hcparker - According to Lantisā€™s Faq up at Gamefaqs, itā€™s a winner to loser quote in SF3 Second Impact that Ken says when he defeats Ryu.

I thought Ibuki knew what Necro was because she knew what the G-Project was, and the G-Project was what produced Necro? ^^

Wow, this is my first time reading the SFA2 jap version endingsā€¦I wonder why capcom usa changed the official endings, dam themā€¦

iā€™ve only played third strike, and it seems odd to me that ibuki never mentions the g-file once in TS. instead, she focuses on getting into college in story-line.

lot a mysteries surrounding the g-file. what is it? why does ibuki want it in NG & DI? why does she gives up after TS? does it have something to do with necro, 12, and maybe Q?

How? Just because Oro doesnā€™t comment on having met Akuma before in TS at all doesnā€™t mean he never might have. Itā€™s still a possibility.

Maybe, maybe not. Lots of arts require you to have smooth movements, but he specifically comments on Elenaā€™s bounce and calls it ā€œwonderfulā€. I donā€™t know what having a nice bounce has to do with fighting ( coughMai Shiranuicough). Besides, I donā€™t think heā€™d ever say that to a guy, even if his body does have a bounce.

Hardly ever. A fighting style has nothing to do with acting violently. Iā€™m guessing even Elena has a short fuse. It makes even more sense when you know that Kenā€™s a cocky bastard.

I was asking if Gill stole the G-Project from some other organization that hired Ibukiā€™s clan to retrieve it.

Yeah, but Necro was just a prototype for all those genetically mutated blobs.

The G-File is merely classified information regarding the production of Necro and the blob-like mutants that Twelve was created with.

If Ibuki did succeed in getting the G-File in SI, she wouldnā€™t care about it anymore because Gill tells her that the project has already begun and that her clan was too late in stopping it. Sheā€™s more interested in living a normal life, as you can see in TS.

Didnā€™t Saikiā€™s earlier translation of Oro vs. Gouki go something like:

Oro: Ah so is the power of the Satsui no Hado, quite an impressive power for a young man.
Gouki: Iā€™ve heard of Senjin before (something) Old man.
Oro: (something) the path of the warrior is never easy, let us travel it now.

I know I donā€™t have the specifics but it went something like that.

Well this is his first time meeting someone who uses that particular style. The other thing to consider is Engrish or a mistranslation of Ryu ACTUALLY says to Elena.

True.

Okay I misunderstood what you were saying.

That Oro vs. Gouki dialogue is the same from the US version of the game. I donā€™t recall Saiki ever posting it up.

And I did say a while ago that Ryuā€™s quote to Elena might be worth noting, providing it wasnā€™t mistranslated or butchered from the original version.

Saiki did post the Japanese version of that conversation where Oro said something like ā€œhere let me rough you up a littleā€ to Gouki, I distinctly rememeber seeing it.

Okay didnā€™t see that last part.

Saiki did post up the Japanese Oro-Gouki intro in the old thread, theyā€™re almost exactly the same, word for word. There are a few minor differences, but you can get the gist of it. In the American version Oro says ā€œEvil Intentā€ whereas in the Japanese version he refers to it as ā€œSatsui no somethingā€ or other. In both versions Oro greets Gouki, compliments him and jokingly mocks Satsui no Hadou. Gouki then brushes him off/ threatens him to which Oro replies that it isnā€™t so easy to become a master and states that heā€™ll teach Gouki a lesson/ rough him up a little. If you know one version, then you know the other.

All right, I think we should get to the bottom of what Gillā€™s capable of. Questions:

1.) How is Gillā€™s immortality justified? And does the fact that his body can be harmed come into conflict with this?

2.) Is it true that Gill has to die in order to perform the Resurrection? Or is it just restoration of the body? (Just curious, because this concept of Gill dying at the hands of a mere martial artist seems kinds ridiculous, even if he is just holding back.)

3.) Is it true that Gillā€™s ability to create and uncreate fire and ice is symbolic for his power to control all opposing forces and create other things? Or was Gill simply implying in Yunā€™s Third Strike ending that it is his mission to unite the two powers and not that he has the power to do it at will?

4.) Would he be considered a universal source of his own energy? If not, how good is his stamina, and how much of it is required to perform his two Super Arts and to resurrect/revitalize?
