Warriors Fate: Street Fighter story thread, revived

Don’t worry vasili10, I asked a few people in the Premium Bombardment board only us Premiums can see to hook you up, your rep seems okay now.

Vasili10, what exactly is Gamest World and how does it differ from Gamest Mook and Gamest Magazine? Thanks! I just realized, Abigail is on that FF2 cover too. I wonder if it’s available without the lettering covering it. And the guy on the ground could be Axl. Pure spekulatius.

Ryuguu Rena says “Sugoi sugoi!”:lovin: Just okay? Dude I’ve been reborn!!! Bigger, stronger, faster. Holy smokes!!! Sweet!!! And here I thought people were going to get me and my little computer too.

Thank you to all responsible minna-san.

Zombie Belger, now that you’re back from the dead you might want to translate the stage story?
More to come.

Gamest World was a spin-off title of Gamest Magazine that saw 25 issues. It focused as mostly the fans’ gaming fever perspective, heavy on the coverage of doujinshis, cosplaying, individuals’ letters, comments, artwork, and the like as they apply to video games. But it also included insider material such as development sketches and developer interviews from time to time.
Gamest Magazine’s major stride is on widespread coverage and news of arcade games, and it’s continued that way today with Arcadia. Mooks specialize in concentrated topics, whether they be on one game like the Zero 3 mook, one theme like the Gal’s Island mooks, or one company’s archives such as Capcom Illustrations.

I’m assuming you were referring to me here. I do want but not quite yet; it’s on my list of things, but it’ll be after I post the breakdown of the complete Zero 3 character chart (Eternal’s plus Capcom Japan’s posted site chart), when I’ll go into SF3 material. When I do get to Necro, it’ll be a lot more than just what the mook calls his stage story. Look forward to it with patience.

Is the art done by Mike Mcginty? if so ask him for the image.

I’ll wait with patience (like a kid the night before christmas).

No it’s not, it was in the interview, he doesn’t know who did all the FF covers.

“No, I didn’t do them, but they definately look Western/American”

Thank for the scans! When do you think you’ll be done scanning the rest?

I did already I’ll upload em tomorrow.

Thanks so much!

Everybody’s favorite miscarry (tongue pierced on both pictures, I learn so many new old things I overlooked)

And the judges!

Thanks! Is that everything?

Yes that’s all. The other art is the usual art, select screen, lost, and so on. I don’t scan that, you can find it on the web. I can check in some other books if I find more Necro art, when I got more time.

You will? Thanks a bunch!

No problem, but I need a few days. Who kows where I could find these drawings without the “game watch” logo covering the characters? Thanks!

In that size, the art looks great, I never cared much about it.

You will need to make an account to full view the images, but it’s free.

Thanks, Scissorman!

While cleaning up I found an old German Nintendo magazine. It has an interview with the creators of Weaponlord (2D fighting game). One of them is the creator of Dee Jay and worked on various SF games. I scanned it and I’ll translate it if anybody is interested.
http://fightingstreet.com/pics/temp/various/weaponlord.jpg

His name is James Goddard, who also made SF II’ HF.

Oh, and please translate this interview.
It seems really interesting.

I always though that game looked interesting.

I found another article that says SFZero was first planned to be called SFLegends (at least in the Western World) before it was changed to Alpha. I still think “Zero” is stupid because SF0 would be before SFI and Zero happens after I. Anyway on to the WeaponLord interview:

The text before the interview speaks about WeaponLord and the differences between SF, Mortal Kombat and WL. Here are some things that are mentioned:

James Goddard and Dave Winstead moved to Namco after working on SFIICE and SFIIT. For WL they work with Visual Concepts (Clayfighter, Madden '95).

They wanted to make a Conan like game with swords (also gameplaywise with breaking the other one’s guard by pressing/pushing the swords against the other one’s). The collision of each characters move is very important in this game.

Characters have at least 10 special moves. With the normal moves that’s 138 different possible cases of collision, while SF has 20 and MK has 10. There are also Finishing moves, not as violent as in MK.

The characters are hand drawn (like SF, unlike MK) and have more animation frames than any other 2D fighter (at that time). They are about 88 pixels high. They all have a story, intro, ending and “inbetween sequences” (don’t know how to translate that). They were not (unlike most 2D fighters) drawn on the PC with DPaint but hand drawn with acrylic colors! This makes em more detailed than the competition.
