I drew the scientists from Necro’s stage, based off of official art. I found them in necro’s backdrop art. But the small guy, I think he is in the crease of the Street Fighter III art book. Does anyone have the backdrop art, hi res, and with no crease in the middle.
By the way, Aerialgroove, the small midget guy here, looks like the scientist in one of Vega’s Alpha endings, he also looks alot like Dr. Jones from the Svc Chaos comic book. I’ll post scans tomorrow.

Hey thanks. I’m a bit lte in replying because I found out from someone else who has the books what I needed to know.
Frame data refers to the actual phases of the move in frames. Of those pics scanned, it seems only the AASFZ3 book has frame data. It’s the “DATA” page. It lists start up, hitting, and recovery frame data for all attacks. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have hit advantage or block advantage, which are arguably more important, but oh well.
Now I just have to go about finding a way to get my hands on the All About Zero books. Any tips?
Oh, as you have those Sodom pics up, a quick request: Can someone translate the names of Sodom’s crouching Light Kick, his jumping Medium Punch, and his Close Standing Hard Punch (Nijitte something)? Also, please confirm for me that his Standing MP (Samurai Punch) and his Close Standing MP have the same name. Thanks.
General tip yes, yahoo japan (All About Books for about 200-700 ). You can get your own account or let one of the many services buy them for you. I strongly (!) dissuade from akibado.com though http://princess.cybrmall.net/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi/7mnub?ubb=get_topic&f=18&t=000197&p=2#000073. JapMart.com is a little too hectic for my personal taste, they want you to have every item sent right away which I find annoying.
Huh. How does that help someone who barely speaks any Japanese and can’t work his way around a JPN site?
Did I also mention I’m a total newb at ordering stuff online? The last time I tried was in 2003, and the book I tried ordering (Capcom Design Works) never came. I lost $42.
Probably Off topic, but I’ve found something interesting regarding the whole name swapping thing with the SF2 bosses and I don’t know a better thread for that other than this one :razzy:
If you go to the M.Bison (cape) entry on Wikipedia and read the section of the name change, aside of the whole fear of a lawsit thing we all already know, another reason posted is that when the game designers presented SF2 for the people of Capcom USA, the later thougth that Vega sounded like a name for a weakling. Now the interesting part is that whomever inserted that to Wikipedia also put a source, but that source appears to be some kind of interview with Capcom of Japan, so if anybody here knows some Japanese maybe could help to translate the interview and who knows what other interesting stuff we may find out

This news is everywhere so in case you don’t know Capcom announced that they will be making a new version of SF2 in HD in the Summer of 2007 with new Studio Udon based sprites for Playstation Network (PS3 server), Xbox 360 and PC. If you scroll down on this link you can see a pic of Ryu’s new sprite!

Oh and Harvey Birdman Phoenix Wright game, OH HELL YES!!!
wow wtf capcom doesnt even know its own colors anymore. That “championship” color is his normal ST color. lame
Rioting Soul: Balrog may have also been considerably disfigured after SF2 but still continues to slaughter. Theory from considering the old SF2 pic of him bashing the mirror he gazes upon, and more strongly his “iron man” Revival ending portrait.
dialupsucky: About the only NxC art I can think of was those assortment of pages I was asked to translate back when the game first started coming out. The pages introduced characters and game mechanics mostly but there were quite a few supers shots and such. They’re in this thread somewhere but I don’t know if the links still work. If anyone wants those pages, PM me with an email address and I’ll send them. Yeah I also noticed the SSF2T HD colors error.
Spoonman: the interviews are amongst the Capcom Sound team. I wouldn’t quite say the name Vega sounded like a weakling thus Capcom USA didn’t want the final boss named that, but the interviewees did say that the overseas maket went along the lines of “no way! no way!” for the name transition of Vega to Bison because “Vega” just didn’t seem “pedastalish” or “stable” for the leader. Sagat BTW remained out of the name flips due to SF1. I’ll keep checking out the rest of the interviews for anything else new.
Ultima: PM me for help on locating AA books through Japanese sites if you want to go that way. Invitation’s naturally extended to anyone else of course. Anyways here’s what you asked for Sodom’s moves:
crouching light kick: foot sweep in Zero 1 and 2, sneak kick in Zero 3
jumping medium punch: lower trucheon sweep in Zero 1 and 2, reverent truncheon thrust in Zero 3
close standing hard punch: face truncheon smash in all 3 (gammen jitte kudaki); nijitte sashi is his Zero 3 regular standing hard punch (double truncheon stab)
Yes both of his standing medium punches are called “samurai punch” in all three games, but only in Zero 3 do they have different animations from each other.
I’ll pm you about it.
Sano, thanks for the link. The picture shows that the poster was done by an idiot. Obviously they were too lazy to cut out Ryu’s shape properly so they tried to use one of many shortcuts to cut paste it on the background, the highlight on his leg is transparent instead of white. Pay me Capcom, I can do that better!

Thanks. I’ll get back to you on the AA stuff later. I’m in the process of ordering AASFZ3 from another place with less hassle. I think I’ll still need to get my hands on All About Zero 2 Alpha though, if that has frame data like AASFZ3 (same with AASFZ, though I’m not betting on that one having frame data).
Concerning Sodom’s moves, though, thanks a lot. However, I need the romaji equivalent for the non-english moves, not the actual translation. So I need more stuff like “Nijitte Sashi”, not “double truncheon smash”, thanks. So just like his crouching medium kick translates to “Ashibarai” (got this from the Versus SFA2 book), I need the equivalent for crouching light kick.
So wait: The move order, from left to right, is close standing moves first, then standing ones? Drat. I thought it was the other way around.
What I really need is a name translation for every single normal in the game, but I’ll probably have to wait until I get my hands on the book myself for that. That’s probably too big a job to ask anyone to do, plus I need the frame data myself.
Still cant find any pics(or any links I have found seem to be dead, besides one link I found that had the pic when reiji kills saya)but this page has a lot of stuff. At least reading wise if you want to read about story, or all the characters lines, so its neat in a nerdy kinda way. Plus if your japanese sucks like mine a lot of times i miss hear stuff but its all there in case you missed a word hear or there. So cool in that way. Of course its all in japanese though, and if its old well then never mind.
Special thanks to Gamefaqs poster Will Smith for pointing this out! Been having fun playing Capcom’s recent Japanese fighter (Developed by 8ing, produced and possibly supervised by Capcom) History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi based on the manga and anime of the same name. Here’s a fun thing that Will Smith had noticed.
Here’s the drawing you unlock if you beat Score Attack mode with the character Hermit, I took a picture of this after reading Will Smith’s post. As you can see, it’s very similar to the drawing you see of Ken in his Super Street Fighter II Turbo ending! Here Hermit is shopping with Kenichi’s little sister Honoka, in ST it was Ken with Eliza.
Ha ha looks like someone on the Kenichi staff is a Street Fighter Fan. :lovin:
Will Smith also pointed out that the Score Attack drawing you got with Valkyria is a homage to Cammy’s ST ending drawing, with a cat and a similar coat. Me, I don’t see it as much as the Hermit / Ken one but here’s a picture of it anyway -
If anything to me, the pic of Valkyria that can be viewed during story mode is a little closer, at least the pose is.
You’re welcome, but you should’ve said you wanted romaji Ultima; those can be hairier to pinpoint with multiple kanji readings.
AASFZ2A has the frame changes from Zero 2 to Zero 2 Alpha, so you’d probably want AASFZ2 also.
Yes that’s the order presented in AASFZ3.
Anyway:
crouching light kick: ashi barai in Zero 1 and 2, sune keri in Zero 3
jumping medium punch: kajitte barai in Zero 1 and 2, ogami jitte tsuki in Zero 3
Thanks for the response vasili!! well, probably the “weakling” thing was somewhat exagerated by that Wikipedia editor, but the central idea seems similar, although you made it way clearer anyway, thanks again!!
But we still don’t know why not two, but three names got switched and why names got switched at all instead of just replacing “Vega” with something new?
Well, keep in mind that the first character who needed a new name was the Boxer, and the potencial legal issues probably put the Boxer on priority. It seems to me that after that they (Capcom USA people) also realized that “Vega” didn’t sound to good for a leader (like vasili told us from the interview) so at that point they got two characters to change. My guess is that they were really lazy to think for two new names for the Boxer and the leader/Boss and they just opted for switching names, taking the advantage that they had a Spanish character involved and “Vega” was a good fit for him (I know that Vega had a reasoning for the boss and that the word has diferent origins by itself but in reality people asociate it way more with being a Spanish name/ last name). Of course, all of this is a guess of mine, but it seems the interview doesn’t give much more information anyway.
vasili10: re: romanji
Thanks a lot.
As for the the AA books… There’s a plain AASFZ2 as well? With frame data? Drat. Well, it’s not as important as the frame data for SFZ1, since that’s considerably different to SFZ2, but SFZ2A isn’t that much different to SFZ2. But does AASFZ1 have frame data? I somehow doubt it. I really need hit/block advantage for those attacks though, which I don’t think those older books have.
You’re very welcome Spoonman.
Sure thing Ultima. Yes there’s an AASFZ2, and like I said above, AASFZ2A only gives the changes between Zero 2 Alpha and Zero 2; to have a complete set of frame data for just Zero 2 Alpha you’ll still need both books. AASFZ1 also has frame data. And contrary to AASFZ3, the previous three books do have somewhat inconclusive hit/block advantages listed: max hits & max scrapes (blocked hits) for every special and super.
Drat. sigh Gonna have to go hunting for those books as well now. I don’t have that kinda money, dammit! Bah…
Oh well, thanks a lot.
Say, can you check something quick for me if you have the time? If AASFZ has it, what’s the data for Guy’s standing Hard Punch and Hard Kick? Data would be start up, active, recovery (normally in that order), as well as hit advantage and block advantage. Also, what’s it say for the hit/block advantage for Adon’s Jaguar Kicks? Thanks.
