Something came to my mind today. When I was little I used to go to a game shop regularly. SFII was very big and they had a giant Blanka in their window, it was one of those flat displays. The style was the one of the American SFII game cover (Blanka vs Ryu and Chun-Li) but the pose was different. He helt up a sign saying SFII over his head (the stance where you look like an “H” if you know what I mean). A few years after they didn’t have it anymore because the sun had bleeched out all the colors I saw the exact same one in a different shop but this time it wasn’t his usual SFII color but his Blueskin-yellowhair color from SFIICE. Has anybody seen that thing too or even has a picture of it? I wonder why they never sold it on ebay. It looked really good.
Sano…
is there a way we can get that comic here in the US?
Aerialgroove - Thanks! I may have to resort to that, but let me see how much of the free space I can use up first. And I don’t remember ever seeing that Blanka image.
Killer_BB6 - It’s really hard to buy now since the Ryu Final Manga is out of print. Check Ebay, it shows up sometimes.
I don’t think that’s a speech bubble next to the servant’s head; I think that’s the mask he’s wearing. Can’t make out any words on it.
Oh, ok.
You can also try the online store Acclimate Solutions; I managed to get my copies from there.
Sorry it’s not what you thought, aerialgroove. That’s happened to me too many times. If you like, I can translate for you the short caption for that particular pic. The SF2 pre-mook and the SF2 Complete File each have one.
Here’s the Hong Kong SFZ2 Comic cover and Gouki vs. Goutetsu fight from that book. Tomorrow I’ll do the drama CDS, and Monday I’ll do Vega’s master, along with a few surprises.

Damn… :wow:
Noob question, whos that guy in the green? I take he’s Gouki master?
Sano, Keep em coming for the US fan
Yeah, that’s Goutetsu, Gouki and Gouken’s master.
That would be awesome!
HK sf comic …is worse than that RS comic which you guys complained about .
eeew , i can’t stand when they made alex the son of M.bison .
Chun Li is also Vega(dictator)'s daughter in the HK comic, which I guess makes her and Alex half-siblings. And Ryu and CL are married, and Ken was evil for a time…still is? I dunno. Anyway, the art is pretty good…

A friend’s website; please be nice.
Here are those old SF2 Images in the CD Drama. To SF Eternal’s credit, the drawings of Mike Bison and Dhalsim are in there.

And my surprise for the day, the “Street Fighter Zero 2 Amusement Anthology Series 22” is one of many many many SF Anthology books that contain comedic comic strips and gags of the characters by various artists and most of the time it features really really bad art this side of Dilbert, but there’s usually one or two good drawings in the book to make up for it. Anyway, what’s special about this book is that it featured artwork by Itoh Mami! Itoh Mami has done Mangas for SF2, SFZ3, Vampire(Darkstalkers), Vampire Hunter, Vampire Savior and even Warzard! Anyway, in this book you’ll see his SFZ2 stuff, even if it borders on comedy it’s actually drawn very well compared to the other crap art in the book. Here’s his color drawing of Sakura, a one page gag plus a story of Ken interacting with, some guest stars from his SFZ2 background!

Just in case you’re misled, the links to HK SFZ3 pics on the previous page are actually from SFZ2, the one HK SF comic series that follows Capcom’s storyline, no messed up relationships that the others are notorious for.
Ok, I see what was missing from Eternal (they can also be seen in the US Gamepro SF2 Turbo Guide art section if people have that one), and I already have that Amusement Anthologies manga you chose, (hey Goutetsu’s not half-naked in the HK man hua!) nevertheless awesome scans sano! Keep’em comin.
Ooops! I edited my post to reflect that they are from SFZ2, but I’m not changing the names of the links!
Anyway, tomorrow you’ll get scans from the real HK SFZ3 comic where you’ll see Vega’s Master. The reason I’m using that book is because I don’t have that many issues, easier to sort through, and it kept many of the Hong Kong comic themes like Vega’s master and the love triangle between Ken, Eliza and Balrog(ninja), and another surprise HK origin you’ll see tomorrow, heh, heh.
THe HK SFZ3 comic also featured Maki, a lot, as if she was a main character of SFZ3 or something. It was obviously influenced by “Sakura Ganbaru!” and Nakahira bringing Maki back into the lime light. Who would of thought way back then that Capcom would actually put Maki in SFZ3 for the Gameboy? But Sakura Ganbaru! was probably one of the reasons Maki was in CVS2 in the first place, and then added to SFZ3 for the GBA.
Thanks for the kind words everybody!
Slight edit to my post above; all the artbooks blending into my head, and can’t tell what’s from where.
Uuck, must have official art that people mention but haven’t seen or can pinpoint. (pre-SnH Gouki, you-know-who, etc., etc.) Must get people to respond, but how except wait and hope? :shake:
Ok I’m better now. Vega’s master and Maki next? Can’t wait.
The first two scans are of HK comic’s version Satsui No Hadou Ryu and Satsui No Hadou Ken. Yeah, HK Comics have been rocking an SNH Ken long before SVC Chaos’ came up with Violent Ken. When they used the Satsui No Hadou their colors changed. The HK SF3 NG Comic, the HK SF EX Comic and the SFZ3 comic all used the same exact colors. Well, I’ve never cared about Color Edit Mode, but here’s something you can try out -

Here’s one of my favorite covers of the HK SFZ3 comic. Mostly because R.Mika doesn’t have a lot of artwork and this drawing has a nice… use of color…

Here Ryu appears on the cover of the HK comic Blood Scorpion, but only the cover. It seems like the company was playing around with the SF license they had. Heh, heh, with all the crossovers Ryu’s been in, this match up doesn’t feel as unbelievable as it did back then.

The rest of this stuff is from the HK SFZ3 comic.

Pissed off towel wearing Chun-Li fights Ryu, and he gets a boner! Don’t worry, they partner up later. But the previous scan upsets me. Not only are my two favorite characters fighting, but BY ALL THAT’S HOLY WON’T SOMEONE SAVE THE DREAMCAST! :wow:
Now here’s Vega’s(Cape) master.

And some Maki images. She almost fights Ryu until Cody pulls her away.

This is not Gouki. In this comic, Goutetsu had an extra pupil.

And here’s Goutetsu sporting the same colors he wore in the HK SFZ2 comic. He’s here with the young Gouki and Gouken, plus that other guy and he decides to train -

- A red headbanded kid over a long haired one. And this red headbanded kid grows up to be -

RYU’S FATHER! Ryu’s father has shown up plenty of times in HK comics and he always looks like this! And that long haired kid is Zeku, Guy’s master! The Zeku/Ryu’s dad friendship is only in this comic though.

Above’s Ryu’s momma! She picked Ryu’s dad over Zeku. Oh, those dangerous HK comic love triangles…

And there’s Ryu’s origin! By the way, how Ryu’s father looks in the last pic is how appears in the HK SF3 NG comic, like he needs a shave. Apparently in both books, he’s still alive and out there. I don’t know what’s up with Ryu’s twin, looks like they’re saying Guy is Ryu’s twin brother! Um… WHOA…
Anyway, this is just about all the HK comics anyone can stand! Next weekend I’ll scan some more stuff, but from Japan this time around.
Ah, missed this post earlier, everyone go with those explanations and not mine since I can’t read the comics!
sano, I just can’t believe you could stand this much! Thanks a lot for the scans, and yeah better go to to Japanese stuff next time before people start shooting themselves!
A few points amidst the madness if people care within the HK SFZ3 comics (and most likely a few other titles minus Zero 2):
-If you were to read the kanji in Japanese:
-Ryu’s father’s also named Ryu, different kanji, this one is the same as dragon (as in shoryuken).
-Goutetsu’s third student is also named Gouken, different first kanji, same “gou” as Gouki’s name, and this has occasionally been used in Japanese sources too, along with the first kanji used for Ryu’s master Gouken used in Japanese Eternal, apparently Capcom can’t decide a standard way to write Gouken’s name in kanji. Strangely enough, Goutetsu’s is always the same.
-Ryu’s long lost twin is Sakura who’s adopted by Zeku.
sano, do you have the last issue of HK SFZ3 (#40)? If so, is the cover showing Vega or his master? Couldn’t tell because he looks green. Thanks.
