Those dates sound about right. When you stop and think about it, Oro’s really really old. There were Samurais and Cowboys back then!

hey guys! i have red the cannon guide and just about this whole thread, and i have a couple questions that i don’t think were addressed on either.

  1. is hugo actually andore jr? i.e. he seems kinda young, so does his age by sf3 match his age in the Final Fight series? wouldnt he be like 50 if that’s the case?

  2. is sakura’s ki manipulation level really as high as kens in alpha 3? i know ken’s hadouken’s have always seemed weaker than ryu’s but in some games, akumas and ken’s fireballs both seem weaker than ryu’s, so would that put sakura near akuma in that aspect at any given time? and doesn’t ken’s fire shoryuken count as a form of advanced ki use? just wondering…

  3. would you guys happen to know if anyone has taken the time to write a cannon guide for the kof games? i remember reading one that had the info from 94 until 99 but i can’t seem to find it.

i had one more question, but i can’t think of it right now…meh
thanks in advance

  1. Hugo might be related to the Andores but at the moment Capcom doesn’t seem to know or care. Hugo rocks by the way, I cleaned house with him this weekend. However, Final Fight takes place roughly 10 years before SF3 so it’s not impossible if Andore Jr was around 20 then. Hugo isn’t that young.

  2. Can’t really answer this one.

  3. I guess you’re talking about Lantis’ KoF guide, but I don’t know of another.

Anyway, for Tiamat, here’s a letter I got:

First, Im extremelly impressed with your street fighter FAQ. I had started something similair for my self trying to collect as much official Data as possible. So when I read your Faq I was impressed to se many things I had seen before. You have done an incredible job.

The second reason I am writing is about Chun-L’si style.I was quite surprised to see that Chun-Li’s style was listed as Tai Chi. I am have no way to back my information as you have done and none of this is official. Some of the moves Chun-Li does in SF3 are Wushu. I have been a Wushu and Wing Chun Practitioner for 5 years and am currently in Shanghai.

Wushu is Kung Fu. It is one and the Same.

The pose Chun-Li does in SF3 during one of her victory pictures is from a form Called Chang Chuen of Long Fist. The rest seem to be a mix. At one time when she is crouch blocking it seems simliair to Long fist as well.

At the same time Chun-Li does a forward Stomp and hits with both hands. This does relate to Taichi. Ot maybe possible that Her Style is justa an amalgimation of differernt kinds of Wushu.

I do not know if this can help you at all. but if it does I am glad.

  1. Not an official answer, but my own personal spin on it is that you fight so many ā€˜Andores’ in the Final Fight Games, Hugo could of been any of those. I feel that when Hugo was put in SF3, (this is my own personal opinion that I can’t back up in any way, but given the Mike/Mike Bison deal it seems likely to me) Capcom was trying to avoid a law suit by the Andre the Giant estate and switched his name to Hugo. His name is Andore in Final FIght Revenge since the Game never left Japan. Since AAC does not cover Final Fight since it only mentions Final Fight Revenge (It only discusses fighting games not side-scrollers) we won’t get an answer. And the hole thing with Hugo and Andore having seperate bios in AAC is because AAC only works with the names the characters are given in the games. That’s why Ryu and Satsui No Ryu, Wolverine with Adamantium and without Adamantium, Spider-Man with Armor and without Armor, etc., etc., etc., appear in the book even though they are the same people. Well, I have a lot of respect for Dash No Chris who really argues they are 2 different people so I’ll drop it since he knows more than I do. Funny thing, when Hugo was first announced for SVC they said he was from SF3 and Final FIght! I knew Playmore didn’t read AAC! HA!

  2. Sakura’s Fireball doesn’t travel across the screen, correct? Ken’s does. Ken owns Sakura for free.

Hmm, well it depends on the strength of her fireball. Sakura’s fireball on Alpha3 can travel across the screen depending on it’s strength. The single punch fireball she does can makes its way across the screen, while the double punch one makes half that distance. The triple punch one is a surge of energy but it barely leaves her hands, though it takes more damage than Ryu’s, Ken’s, or even Akuma’s ā€œstandard fireballā€ for that matter - It’s just harder to pull off ( the Triple Punch one ).

Yeah, I think ken owns sakura also - but that’s in strength wise depending on the game. In Alpha3, I noticed that Ken’s attacks damage more than hers. Her Hurricane Kick on A3 is just horrible to me.

re: Sakura & Ken’s FBs

It should be noted that Ken’s FB has a limited distance span as well, though it’s longer than full screen. If you throw a FB with Ken in the corner, then walk forward so that more than a screen is traversed, the FB dissipates eventually. Ryu’s own doesn’t. I don’t think Akuma’s own does either. So it’s a little better than Sakura’s own, which dissipates right at around full screen distance.

re: Hugo

Regardless of his actual in-game appearances, or lack theoreof, isn’t Hugo officially affiliated with Mad Gear, or at least was at one point in the past? There MUST be some connection between him and the various Andores you fought in Final Fight. Even if HUgo isn’t officially Andore Jr. it’s possible he’s a cousin from Germany or something that you may or may not have fought in-game. I don’t think it matters much really if he has officially appeared, since it seesm obvious that there is some connection between him and Mad Gear (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

re: KoF canon guide

Fenix over on HerV (http://www.highervoltage.net) has attempted to create a Kof equivalent to the SF guide, though the going has been pretty slow. Fenix doesn’t have the equivalent to Saiki to translate from Jpn. books like All About SNK to help him. That, and there’s probably a lot of contradictory stuff in the KoF series that SNK has never bothered to sort out. :\

That letter… doesn’t really seem to indicate anything new that isn’t already in the guide to my knowledge  At least, I’m pretty sure I updated Chun-Li’s section to include that Wushu was Kung Fu in a general sense and that lots of Chun-Li’s moves had wushu in them, most likely for that reason.

Hugo in Street Fighter Eternal is stated to come from Final Fight, too.

Regarding Hugo: All the unconfirmed background information I’ve been able to gather about Hugo completely contradicts him being an Andore. This information is oooold information but it included Poison being a guy long before the plot guide came along, and the writer (K Megura) said he got it from his friend who read lots of official sources. Also, I believe this information was repeated by someone else in an e-mail to me a long time ago but I forget who… although it’s in the plot guide so I must have got it from SOMEWHERE (though K Megura basically confirms that the info in the guide is probably official).

ā€œIt states in his history that he left home at the young age (Probably
16), a home consisting of him and his mother, Father and his Two Sisters.
He was Firstborn, First Son too. So that means he had no brothers (Then).
And he left home and went straight to Pro-Wrestling. And lost his partner
through some scheme of his rival’s. This history is not something an
Andore. could have had for a variety of reasons (no brothers so he can’t be
Father/Uncle Andore and he can’t be Jr.'s brother, and it’s stated he went
straight to pro-wrestling with no mention of being in a gang).ā€

Anyways His official measurements don’t match with Andore’s, too (not that that necessarily has to mean much since I only have Andore’s measurements and not the rest of the family).

My own opinion regarding Hugo and Andore: Capcom are idiots.

  1. Sakura having the same chi manipulation as Ken in SFA3 was stated by Saiki. I dunno if chi manipulation and chi POWER are one and the same, though, but since Sakura can vary the strength of her fireball like that, she must be pretty good at literally manipulating her chi, I think (manipulate her strength).

  2. See what Ultima said.

It says that Hugo is from Final Fight in SF Eternal? What the…

To me the most confusing thing is that in SFZ3 the Andore Poison is standing next to in the Metro City Stage is stated to be Andore in AAC. Then, on the Billboard in SFZ3 it states that the Andore there is Hugo. I guess Poison just likes to hang out with pink shirted Ogres…

Rechecked the Plot Guide and I stand corrected regarding the Sakura/Ken Fireball issue. He will still kick her Ass though.

Hey all, couple of plot guide questions & comments since we’re mostly on the subject. This is for particularly our Japanese-literate contributors (hope you see this Saiki) about some points that range from the not so noteworthy to the more significant. Also, I’m not saying I don’t believe the following material in the guide; I’m just trying to force people to come out with info and reasons that’ve been unintentionally left out, and remember that my points are valid because I bring them up after several times going through the oldest source listed in the plot guide:

ā€œOn a side note, although the ā€œdislikes young womenā€ thing was added to his bio only recently (come SFZ3), Zangief’s been officially gay ever since he was first designed (the statement can be found in a source as old as the Official Street Fighter 2 Fanbook).ā€

Although the stereotype appearance has often been used to indicate (understood) homosexuality and the winning quotes now confirm it, I haven’t found a statement in the book saying that Zangief’s gay. It says under his profile that he’s very serious, but nowhere can I find gay. Comments anyone?

ā€œHe used to be a martial artist who wanted to be the best and
strongest. He was trained under someone, who at the time was the only Psycho Power user. He also trained along-side two other students. Bison killed his master and went on a rampage. It’s unknown what happened to the other two students. This is a fact that Capcom seems to have forgotten about (you can’t find this fact except in oooooold Capcom official storyline guides) and thus will probably never resurface.ā€

Ok, this info I definitely have not been able to find in the book. Did I skip a page or something? The book mentions Vega (Bison in the US) wanted to be the best and the strongest, but nothing about two other students. So where does this elusive statement come from? Which ones are the old Capcom official storyline guides? Anybody?

ā€œRyu didn’t see Gouken battle his brother Akuma. Gouken’s daughter saw it, but she disappeared after that. Gouken’s daughter has no official name (though Ryu and Ken called her ā€˜Little Miss’). There are two official arts of her, though they differ greatly from each other so it’s hard to tell which one’s supposed to be correct. Ken also arrived near the end of the
battle and was able to witness it. The fact that Gouken had a daughter seems to have been forgotten by Capcom and thus will probably never resurface (the official arts of her come from ooooooold official sources and you can’t find the fact that Gouken has a daughter except in really old sources, too.ā€

The only evidence of Ojou-san I found is from the short manga story in the book, which doesn’t even deal with Gouki. So how do we know that she saw her father’s battle with his brother and then vanished? Again any clarifications on the old official sources?

Finally to Saiki: have you read over my second set of questions yet? Will you reply to me sometime soon? Please try your best; your answers would make a great upcoming B-day gift. Thanks everyone.

Quick Question ( I should know, but forgot…:frowning: )

Guy’s fighting style, isn’t it called the Bushin fighting style? ( I want to see if everything’s correct and if it’s the right style name )

Thanks.

Guy practices Bushinryu Nippo. For Fan Fiction purposes, you can just call it Bushinryu since he’s called a Bushinryu Master. I don’t think calling his style Bushin would be right.

I just got my copy of Capcom Early Days. It’s basically a Reprint of Capcom Illustrations, but it has LOTS of new stuff. Missing from this new book are lots of sketches and most notably those of Belail. But there is plenty of new cool stuff. My favorite new pics are one of White headbanded Ryu playing Megaman at the Arcades while Chun-li, Ken, Roll, Captain Commando and others look on. Ryu looks like he’s loosing! Another is a pic of a bunch of Capcom Characters Jam Packed on a crowded train, where Rolento caresses Resident Evil’s Jill Valentine’s Face as he puts the moves on her! And there’s an SF3 style sketch of Ryu and Chun-Li, and any drawings with those two pleases me! I got my copy from Tokyo Central but already the book is out of Stock.

as far as i know , capcom got inspiredon astro boy and created Rock man series … and this legendary game is still keep on going …

will capcom get inspired with Naruto

Yeah, Capcom took a lot of stuff rom Astro Boy in creating Megaman/Rockman. Astro Boy even dies in the original Anime Series, and it’s hinted that Megaman dies too. In order to silence people’s complaints about Astro Boy dying, Osamu Tezuka created a story in the Manga of how Astro Boy was ressurected. He went back into the past (World War II) and did not die, but when time caught up to where he was created, they had to destroy his body that time traveled from the future because two of the same can not coexist at the same time, so they have to kill Astro Boy again! In short, his life is an endless loop where he’ll still die.

Naruto is cool but I don’t think it’s that great. I like the Manga a lot better even though I’ve only seen a few episodes of the Anime. I hear that later on the Anime becomes exactly like the Manga. It’s just from some reason, the character designs to me look a lot better in the original Manga. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly why. The original opening and ending tracks to Naruto are really good. I can do without the song during the show of the people screaming ā€œHA! SUYA! HA!ā€ every five seconds though.

'Sup. Haven’t been here in a little while, but I picked up some more info from a couple japanese fan sites while I’ve been gone. I visited a site called Street Fighter World and another site called Red Cyclone. Here goes:

RETSU
He’s a Shaolin Buddhist monk (he WAS, atleast). I might’ve said this before, but Shorin-ji means ā€œShaolin Templeā€ in Japanese.

ADON
He was invited to join Shadaloo several times. The MueyThai stadium which appears in his SFA2 ending is called Lumpini Stadium.

IBUKI
Her ninja village has existed since the Sengoku period.
She’s been practicing Ninjitsu since preschool.
All the residents of the ninja village practice ninjitsu. Ninja lessons are given in school as well.

GUILE
He’s a major during the SF2 series and a 1st liutenant during SFA3.
During Guile’s SF2 ending, M. Bison says something like, ā€œAre you Guile? You’ve become stronger.ā€ Therefore Bison and Guile must’ve fought before, right? If you’re wondering when they first fought (that is, if you haven’t assumed it already), it was during SFA3, right before Guile and Charlie chased the fleeing Vega into his Shadaloo based and started planting bombs.
Before he chose to participate in the SF2 tournament, Guile took Bison to court and attempted to put him in jail. Unfortunately, the court was under M. Bison’s influence, Guile lost the case and Bison was aquitted. I guess Bison bribed the court or something.

KARIN KANZUKI
Ishizaki was assigned the job of baby-sitting/watching over Karin while she traveled the world, in search of a rematch with Sakura.
Shibazaki is the Kanzuki Family’s steward. While steward usually means butler, it has many other definitions, such as a person who manages another’s affairs and/or finances.

KEN
A little while before leaving Gouken’s dojo, Ken suggested that he and Ryu compete to see which one of them becomes a famous street fighter first.

GILL
Apparently, the Organization of Mystery has controlled/managed the world from the ā€˜other side’ since the times of B.C.
Gill is the owner of the power of miracle, whatever that means…
Gill doesn’t wanna wait 'til 2200, so he’s trying complete his dream of a utopia now.
There are 66 secret techniques of the Mysterious Organization, including Resurrection. It’s impossible to master all the fighting techniques of the Mysterious Organization.
The reason Gill was elected president over Urien is 'cuz Urien was considered emotionally unstable. Urien became vice president instead.

CODY
In case you didn’t know already, Cody used to spar/train w/ Guy.
Cody’s height was listed as 182cm during FF1, and his weight was listed as 85kg.

SAGAT
Sagat weighed 78kg during the SF2 series and his 3 sizes were listed as B130, W86, H95.
SF mentions the thing 'bout Sagat developing the Tiger Uppercut to counter Ryu’s shoryuken.
During the SFA series, Sagat dissappeared from Thailand for almost/exactly a year.
Sagat is/was considered the national hero of Thailand.
Btw, Red Cyclone’s webmaster says that SFA1 & 2 are the same game storyline-wise (just like the FAQ says). He also says that SFA1/2 takes place several months after SF1 and SFA3 takes place a year after SFA1/2. He says SFA1/2 takes place in 1987 and SFA3 takes place in 1988.

ZANGIEF
His height was listed as 211cm during the SF2 series and weighed 115kg. His 3 sizes were listed as B163, W128, H150.
He and Gorbachev attended the same university, probably at different times. They both wrestled there. He left the professional wrestling 'cuz of the lack of competition. He was undefeated.

SEAN
Supposedly, he played basketball in college. This is strange to me, since I always thought Sean was around 16 or 17. Sean’s grandfather trained him for a while, before he became Ken’s pupil. In case you didn’t know already, his grandfather is Japanese.

SODOM
After the Mad Gear was destroyed the first time, Sodom left America to do a little soul searching. He began practicing at a Zen temple in the heart of the mountains in Hida. For those who don’t know, Hida is the old name for a mountainous area in central Honshu.

DHALSIM
Dhalsim’s backstory has him deeply meditating somewhere in the surrounding area of the Ganges River. The people of his village suffer from poverty and illness. He needs money quick in order to save them. He considers street fighting, but he knows he’d be disobeying one of God’s principles, which is not to physically hurt others. After deep meditation, Dhalsim reluctanly chooses street fighting as a way to make money in order to rescue the village, realizing that negative energy is increasing within him…

CHUN-LI
Her height was listed as 170cm during the SF2 series and her 3 sizes were listed as B88 W58 H90. At 18 she began aspiring to be a detective.

BALROG
3 sizes: B120, W89, H100 during the SF2 series.
Balrog grew up in a tough neighborhood and wanted to be rich, so he aspired to becom a boxer. Even though he didn’t receive any formal coaching because of his poverty, there was excellent power in his punches. He was the youngest child of a poor home in the slums in the United States.
He reluctantly began working as a bouncer in a casino bar after he was banished from professional boxing. During this time, M. Bison approached him and promised Balrog a large amount of money if he worked for him. Balrog accepted Bison’s offer and joined Shadaloo.
Kimala The Bouncer participated in the Vale Tudo tournament Alex and Balrog were in, and was defeated by Balrog.

CHARLIE
He studied physics in college.
The weapons warehouse he was sent to was located in Frankfort, Kentucky.
One of the officials/superiors there was a scumbag or something.
He used the army’s money for his own personal use and bought many illegal airplanes, which is a serious crime.
The superior framed Charlie and held him responsible for the crime in order to discharge/fire him. Charlie gathered the airplanes & weapons he found in the warehouse and fled.

HUGO
Hugo lost his tag partner because of some false rumors spread by a rival wrestler. The tag-team tournament is in 3 months, so he enters the SF3 tournament in search of a new partner. All that stuff Tiamat said about running away from/leaving home is true. I have just a few things to add. According to the Red Cyclone, Hugo IS Andore, not Andore Jr. He grew up on a farm in Germany, which consisted of him, his mother, father, younger brother (Andore Jr.), and his 2 sisters. He left home to vist America at 20 years old and eventually wound up in Metro City where he joined the Mad Gear Gang. He hasn’t returned home once since he left. He’s the Andore in the pink outfit in FF1.
Red Cyclone acknowledges that ALL ABOUT CAPCOM and the SF 15th anniversary book say 2 different things, regarding whether or not Hugo is an Andore. Y’know, ALL ABOUT CAPCOM says they’re 2 different people, while the 15 anniversary book says they’re the same guy.
In FF1, Hugo wears the same outfit as he does in the SF3 series. Uncle Andore wears a black outfit with white dots on his tank top nas a moustache, Andore Jr. wears a red outfit w/ black dots on his tank top, and Grandfather Andore wears a blue outfit w/ black dots on his tanktop. He also wears eyeglasses.
In FF2 Hugo wears red overalls, even though his portrait has him wearing blue overalls in the japanese instruction booklet. It’s actually Andore Jr. who wears blue overalls in the game.

FF1 Andore:

FF2 Andore:
http://www1.bbiq.jp/red-cyclone/syokaifile/hugo/andore-ff21.gif

FF3 Andore:

Uncle Andore:

Andore Jr.
http://www1.bbiq.jp/red-cyclone/syokaifile/hugo/andore-jr1.jpg

Grandfather Andore:
http://www1.bbiq.jp/red-cyclone/syokaifile/hugo/G-angore1.jpg

The RC webmaster doesn’t understand why he’s Andore Jr. if he’s Andore’s younger brother…Neither do I.

M. BISON
His weight was listed as 80kg during the SF2 series and his 3 sizes were B129, W85, H91.
The drug Shadaloo sells is supposedly called SH11. It brainwashes the user.

MAKOTO
Her family dojo is called the Rindou Dojo/Mansion.
She was apparently born in Tosa. Tosa is a district located in Kochi, Japan.

URIEN
His nickname is the ā€œApostle of Treason,ā€ or the ā€œApostle of Rebellionā€.
He has been a potential presidential candidate since he was 6 years old.
I guess the Aegis Reflector is one of the 66 secret techniques of the Mysterious Organization.
In Urien’s 3rd Strike ending, I guess his name is written on one of the capsules. This is new to me since I’ve never seen his 3rd Strike ending. I think Gill is inside one of the capsules as well…? I couldn’t really make sense outta the translation, so if anyone has seen Urien’s ending, could you please explain it to me?
He destroys the brains and then declares a new age/era, AU (After Urien).

YUN
His fighting style is listed as Chinese kenpou learned from his grandfather. It’s based on a Chinese boxing style/martial art called Baji Quan". In Japanese, its hakkyokuken. A direct translation would be 8 Extremes Fist.
He likes steamed meatbuns.
He dislikes easygoing people or easy opponents…I’m not sure. He also dislikes pitan (fermented eggs). It’s a chinese dish.
Yun was raised by his grandfather who ran a restaurant in Shanghai.
Eight bosses who reign over the underworld in Hong Kong entrusted the village’s/communitys safety to Yun & Yang.
SF World mentions that Lee is their uncle.

RYU
His 3 sizes were B112 W81 H85 during the SF2 series.

RAINBOW MIKA
She became a pupil of Yoko Harmegeddon around the same time she graduated from junior high. It’s either junior highschool or highschool. In case u didn’t already know, Yoko’s a former pro wrestler. Yoko injured her waist 3 years before Mika entered the professional wrestling community, and retired. Her injury might explain why she’s always on a scooter. She never planned to return to the ring in any way, shape, or form…that is, until she met Mika! Yoko was impressed by Mika’s natural talent and returned to the professional wrestling community as Mika’s coach. ā€œYour dream is my dream,ā€ said Yoko. She was sure that Mika would soon take the spotlight and go straight to the top. Yoko went on to say something about rainbows and the sky…the translation didn’t make much sense. The name Rainbow Mika was created w/ the thought/idea of 2 peoples’ dream!
Yamato Nadeshiko - Another female pro-wrestler and Mikas tag-team partner.
Here’s a picture of her:
http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyerdb&subpage=flyer&id=3564&image=1

ROSE
She performs her fortune telling in Genoa.
Her fortune-telling is very popular and she has a good reputation because of it.
Aprile’s brother’s name is Maggio. He’s her younger brother.
The Mansion/Palace of Mystery - Rose’s home and base of operations. She performs her fortune-telling here.
Tiamat, I made a little typo in your FAQ. In Rose’s bio I wrote, ā€œHer SFA3 nickname is located in the Palace of Mystery (Italy)ā€. I meant to write SFA3 STAGE, not nickname. Just wanted to let u know.

ROLENTO
Shadaloo was investigating Rolento at one point. I’m not sure when or why.
Rolento was in charge of selling/distributing weapons and drugs when he was a Mad Gear member…YES, the Mad Gear gang were drug dealers.

TWELVE
When he isn’t running errands for the mysterious organization or on a mission, he’s kept in a capsule at their research institute.
His bio in SF World mentions something about Twelve waking up to his true self and his memory being erased. I can’t really make sense out of the translation. Perhaps he had a past life? If any of u guys have seen his ending, could you please explain it to me? Maybe we can shed some light on this.

POISON
Birthplace: Los Angeles
Height: 175cm
Weight: 52kg
Three sizes: B88 W66 H89
A favorite thing: French fries
Poison grew up in an orphanage in Los Angeles. Somehow she wound up in Metro City and became a member of the Mad Gear Gang. She lives with her cat in an apartment facing the back streets of metro city.
Roxy is Poison’s brother. She’s also a new-half.
Lately, Hugo has been having trouble finding decent competition because of his amazing strength, so he and Poison plan to start their own wrastlin’ organization, the H.W.A.

GUY
The Bushin style has existed since the Sengoku (Warring States)period.
Guy’s english is bad, but he was born in America.

FEI LONG
He began practicing Kung-Fu when he was around 6. He was a stunt man before he became a movie star. He appeared in his first movie when he was around 18 (as a stunt man).

MAKI
Maki’s official birthday is August 28.
Maki likes Guy, but Rena is Guy’s fiance. Therefore, Maki can’t tell Guy how she really feels.

Phew! Took me a few days, but it’s finally finished!

This was from page 4 of this thread. I didn’t find an answer on it so I guess nobody answered it. In FFR which has American voices but was kind of ā€œsupervisedā€ by Capcom Japan they say it like ā€œAn-Do-Reeā€ with a short Do (not Dou) and a spoken E and the end. Go ahead and tell me to stop bringin up old posts.
