Warning! Turbo Buttons used with Madcatz TE Stick/Pad in Tournaments!

I think macros should be allowed when you use a pad without debating. Macros for anything else doesn’t matter, turbo doesn’t either since you lose FA, throw, and taunting.

who cares

Anyone who has ever tried to use turbo in a fight knows that it hurts more than helps. I’m glad turbo is on the te stick cus it help get through some of the trials much faster. Like the trials that make u link 4 lp then something else. And one other thing I noticed while using turbo to do trials. A lot of times the turbo isn’t even fast enough to do 1 frame links. It actually only worked on some combos like 30 percent of the time. Example: I used it on kens hard trial to get the link crounching lp crouching hp, hp dp. I would hold down hp immediately after the lp and get the crouching hp then do the dp motion on the stick then let go. It only worked like 20 percent of the time. The wierd thing was if it worked once then Id mess up do it again mess up do it again it would usually work like four times in a row then it would go back to not working for like 15 tries then all of a sudden it would work for three more tries. I worked on that damn trial for a month then one morning half awake I got it on the third try. I almost cried.( I know I’m a total dork.) I say let people use turbo cus I bet it will screw them up anyway and then we can all make fun of them for using turbo.

You guys aren’t helping the pad players out here.

No srsly, just stop. =[

Really I don’t care if pad players use 3P/3K macros, so you guys can stop crying. I’m more worried about stick players using 8 buttons, it’s just hard to say that pad players can use 8 buttons but stick players can’t. I think if macros are allowed they need to be 3P/3K only (in the rules) to prevent possible stupid tricks from becoming accepted. If you guys went to a basketball tournament and got charging called on you you’d be crying about how offensive fouls are elitist. Play the game how it was meant to be played when the stakes are high. Nobody gives a shit when it’s you and 10 other kids playing for a $60 top prize (example, 99.9% of SF4 tournaments), do whatever you want.

Macros and turbo should always be banned in all tournaments, pad and stick players alike. You choose to play pad than learn to press your buttons, yea all 3 of them at the same time just like stick players do.

Thank you Justice. My thoughts exactly. It seems that people like to throw that elitist word around just because they can’t play the standard way… if you don’t know how to play then you should’nt be in a tournament anyway.

People throw the term “elitist” around because in the context of videogames it sounds nicer than “annoying retard with the cognitive abilities of a 5 year-old”. Count your blessings.

Button bindings have been used in games for a long time in tournaments, and nobody’s bitched about it before.

You’re right though, since I play on pad and use a default configuration at a console tournament, I have absolutely no idea how to really play.

I still laugh at this fucking argument, because now us pad players should be destroying you stick users because of this magical advantage, where before SF4… using pad made you an inferior player because we couldn’t possibly be as good (for whatever reason that might be). Now we have some sick advantage that breaks the game somehow since we’re able to hit 3 buttons at once with 1 finger, never mind the bazillion other things that factor into who wins the match. Footsies, mind games, basic understanding of matchups, thorough understanding of your character’s normals/specials… fuck all that, I have a WIN BUTTON.

PPP/KKK binds don’t bother me. I dunno just seems trivial in the grand scheme. Use em, don’'t use em, whatever. Macros for full on combos is something else though. Turbo’s pretty dumb to but I loved having it on my DC Stick. Alleviated many an hour of carpel tunnel while playing my shmups.

Are there seriously any people advocating FOR turbo use at Evo?!?!

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

You know what? If someone is caught using Turbo in a match I want them THROWN THE FUCK OUT.

Period.

Whats next? If people are losing the match can they just unplug thier stick and run? Fucking mulligan?!?!

I don’t think anyone has argued for that.

I would certainly hope not, am I correct in assuming that Evo has a 0 tolerance policy in place for this?

No-one has; people need to at least keep up with the damn thread. Its been pretty unanimous from page 1.

I’m actually all for turbo, if people wouldn’t use it as a game exploit, and just use it for mashing combo’s (e.g. Chun’s Legs), IN COMBOS, because yesterday, I played online, and met up with some Honda. I went for a tick throw that round, but no, during my links he was holding down punch, and when I watched the replay, it scared me how my screen was being raped by MP. I can definitely see how turbo could be used effectively but not in a way that would take out human error (e.g. turbo should only be used, if even used, for things like Chun’s cr.lk > cr.lk EX legs).

Turbo should definitely not be used for one frame links, because that my friends, is an exploit.

P.S. in the official EVO rules, there is nothing saying you can’t use turbo

EDIT: To all of you stick players who think us pad players shouldn’t be allowed to use PPP and KKK macros, pick up a controller right now, set the controls to default, and do Ryu’s ultra. Ten times in a row without screwing up.

“Is Rapid Fire/Turbo allowed?
No.”

Holy fuck, why was this thread revived

Why

i’m a pad player, and you’re dead wrong. in fact, I’m pretty sick of hearing this argument in general. I almost straight up flamed you without giving you the reason

I use a PS2 pad, which isn’t even suited for that type of pressing. 3P/3K press is very easy to do if you’ve got pad skill. I don’t even have the fortune of being a tourney player and I’ve done 3P presses more times than I can remember. on GGPO, I once played THawk and Vega exclusively and forgot to set 3P and 3K. so during the matches I tried doing them the old fashioned way. to my surprise, I didn’t miss a single dive or flip. it gets harder in stuff like MvC where you have to wavedash but I’m sure that could be done with practice. the most I could get was 3, but that’s probably because I didn’t master the movement

The fucked up thing is, I didn’t really seriously practice this or anything, I just fooled around with it a few days. I don’t have any set technique for this, I just do it; thumb between square and triangle, index on R1, then squeeze. I don’t know the input for what you’re talking about, but chances are that the problem lies with you, not the pad.

if it’s so hard for you and you want to do it, why don’t you just get a stick?

Third place last tournament went to Inthul who perfected Sanford with Fei using a pad, cut the excuses.

This is why the American fighting game community is a joke and Japan is laughing at you. Also, no, I’m not a fan of Japan. I bet on Daigo every time but I want Justin to win.
