Warning! Turbo Buttons used with Madcatz TE Stick/Pad in Tournaments!

I apologize if this is already known but it’s new to me…

With any Madcatz TE stick/pad you can do 1-frame links without any timing.

Example:
Ryu Daigo Special
F+HP(2 hits),cr.HP~HP SRK

With the the turbo button locked on HP, you can perform the above combo simply by holding down HP+the required motions.

Yes that’s right, no plinking, no raw link timing, just by holding the button and the SRK command at the end (or SRK shortcut for the execution impaired)

There is nothing game breaking caused by turbos/macros in SF4

HOWEVER,

Execution is part of the game and so is the human output towards pressure situations.

Eliminating human errors with a program such as turbo is cheating IMO.

EVO is the only tournament that bans turbos/macros.

I think all tournaments should follow this standard.

What do you think?

Pretty sure most tournaments imply that turbo is banned

Macros are just lazy shortcuts. Whatever happened to ACTUALLY pressing ALL 3 punch/kick buttons? :wonder:

I made a RSF macro for Fuerte on the PC version of SF4. I press this button and you die.

Macros are fine!

whats plinking

AFAIK, Turbo won’t actually allow you to insta hit 1 frame links.

I recall trying it for Fuerte’s 4th Hard Trial, and it still not working.

I think it’s used more for Button Mash specials (Blanka Electricity, Chun Lightning Legs, etc.)

Turbo buttons actually hit every other frame (if they were active every frame it would be the same as holding the button), so it gives you a 50/50 shot of nailing 1-frame links.

Otherwise, yes, macros of all kinds should be banned in all tournaments. I don’t even know why they put the stupid turbos on the things in the first place, although it does help to show some neat possibilities for links if you don’t look at frame data at all.

Every tournament I’ve ever been to in the South East, both local and major, ban turbos/macros.

Hell, for years at Final Round even punch/kick x 3 buttons were banned, since those buttons don’t exist in the arcade.

But, yeah, turbo and macros should be banned without question.

might as well have a discussion about the shortcut for dp’s, i hate those… but i say no turbos for tournaments!!! :nono:

People who play on stick and need multi-button macros are stupid. People who get mad at pad players for using them when they are at a so-called disadvantage already are even more stupid.

Turbo is just retarded and people should get punched in the face for using it.

So you’re calling me stupid?

And how do you figure pad players are at a disadvantage?

I believe he was talking about Multi Button Macros, aka 3 punches / 3 kicks.

And I don’t think he was saying they are at a disadvantage, he was saying that people who say that they are, and don’t want them to use the 3 button macros are stupid.

I’ve yet to see anyone using Turbo’s at my tournament. If I did I’d have them turn that shit off. That shit dont fly!

Makes you wonder how much of SRK could recognize Turbo being used on a TE/SE if they saw it.

Though, a crafty person could always just spray paint the underside of the panel so the turbo lights can’t be seen anyway. You’d have to actually see Turbo doing it’s thing ingame, notice your opponent turning Turbo on, or risk being an asshole and call your opponent out in front of a judge

No, this really does work on some links.

It works better using an HRAP3, though. (Faster turbo, imo)

How it works - When you do a link such as low jab to low fierce punch , the fierce punch will come out on the first possible frame after the jab.

Assuming the Turbo does “30 shots per second”, it has a 50% chance of connecting the links. More often than not, it’ll connect from my experience.

Turbo should be banned in all tournaments, period.

EDIT: I think CaliPower wanted to made this more aware, before it becomes a potential problem.

It’s meant for shump players, who also prefer arcade sticks. Need all the help they can get in some of those crazy “bullet hell” games.

To my knowing, almost all tourneys follow suit with the no Turbo/Macro rule, and I completely agree with you.

Execution is a huge part of the game, you use a peice of equipment to make it easier to a huge degree, and you’re a bitch.

Simple as that.

I too am 100% sure all turbo functions you could do on a TE/SE are banned for use in a competitive atmosphere, so I don’t know where you got the impression people might be getting away with this other than the fact of them trying to do it without people knowing. In which case judges and spectators should be policing the situation to make sure such turbo functions are not being used.

Besides, if I noticed you were using Turbo in a tournament match you shouldn’t be worried about getting yourself disqualified, you should be worrying about me noticing and knocking you right on your ass out the door.

it’s silly for TOURNAMENT EDITION sticks to have turbo at all imho

I use a Hori that has no turbo function, just to reassure everyone I play that I don’t cheat to do my HHS combos ^___^

Yeah… turbo is for ****.
