Wake up Rochester!

EGS meetup this wednesday at 8PM is in the RIT SAU lobby(where the ben and jerry’s is) and not the cafeteria.

@Chacha: I’ll let the people that don’t visit SRK know about the buffalo tourney. I think we can guarentee atleast 5 people.

This is Jess btw. That’s so weird that we’re going to be in the lobby. Is there enough room there for all the TVs and stuff? Anyway, I’m probably going to be there around 9 or so. I’ve got intramural volleyball practice

You guys going tonight? I haven’t gotten to play much outside of our weekly meets so I’ll be there.

Saturday Meetup this sat is at CyberStorm, get there between 5 and 6 PM, I’ll be a little late, I’m going to the beach with some friends and I’m not sure when we’ll be back.

hey, anyone know if this is still happenin? i’m here with three people right now. any word?

@omg1337core: I wasn’t able to go in the end, but my roomate shoulda been there, were you able to meetup with the regulars?

omg1337core: Yooo. I saw u guys there. Sorry for not hopping over to say hey. We were the guys right next to ya, majority being asians. Most of us thought you guys were just hanging out with each other, didn’t want to bother you guys. I think by the time we were about to come over to greet, you guys already left. Again I apologize for not showing a welcoming hand. We should be back at cyberstorm next next week. If you guys are free, we’re at RIT for EGS night on Wednesday to come out and play some.

Buffalo vs Rochester pre big tourney- tourney, anyone interested? can anyone in rochester host like 15+ players?

get back at me

Do you mean Host as in provide a Tournament venue, or host as in house 15+ people.

just a venue like cyberstorm. I guess what I should have asked, is will Rochester’s actual ‘best’ players make an effort to come play in their own backyard, so it would make Buffalo’s trip worth it?

Between the SF4 and BB groups, we’d get the word out.

Will the Buffalo tourney be running HD Remix?

I’m sure we can produce some people for SF4 and BB, but probably not much beyond that.

What games were you thinking?

We have a OK-sized pool of regular SF4 players. and about 6 for BB lol.

Not much for the other fighters.

Grifter- no HD remix at Rumble, it didn’t have enough interest.

Rorec- cool, designate a place and time and I will spread the word to Buffalo, obviously weekend is good, Sunday being best, since saturday is our local game night.

ok, here we go

Issues:
-Last i checked with the guy that organizes Smash tourney’s at cyberstorm, they were charge 10$ cover and gave around 8 setups, this is quite expensive
-All the setups at Cyebrstorm are HDTV’s

Solutions:
For the case about the HDTV’s, we have 2 xbox vga cables over here that we can bring over to cyberstorm. Anymore that you can provide would be cool
As for the venue price of 10$ per player, depending on how many people we get, it might be cheaper to just buy 4-5 daypasses for 4-5 setups. it’s 28$ per day pass. so say if we have 32 people. That’d come to $3.50 per person for 4 setups for the venue costs.

Would November 1st sound appropriate for you guys?

Rorec, would we be able to have a free venue such as some campus room somewhere that can be reserved, or someone’s house? Paying $10 for laggy TVs and not a huge amount of quality set ups seems counter productive.

November 1st seems cool.

Not sure how reserving rooms work, might be clubs only. But I will get on that, maybe ask the Electronic Gaming Society Club on how things work.

But assuming we do get a campus room, I only have one TV that’s practical to move around, so we would need to figure out who can bring what. I do know EGS gets setups for thier club meetups but that’s far too short. It’s like 8:00 PM to 11 PM on Wednesdays too.

As for someone’s house… I’ll have to get back to you on that. I only know one person with a house around here but I am not sure if he is ok with it.

How many setups do you reckon we need by the way?

Also, regarding HDTV’s

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=174085

The thread there is handy for removing the scaling/de-interlacing and postprocessing lag from HDTV’s. Basically requires a HDTV with a game-mode and a vga cable.

We’ve tested it personally at my house with a 360 version of BB and SF4, and everyone seems to be liking it.

I think we can manage somewhere with 4-7 set ups, 4 being bare bones.

Keep checking, we can also do a saturday, if it’s better for ya.

Rochester meetup this saturday is at cyber storm at 5PM. Hope to see new people there! If you’re not sure who we are, look for the setup with literally all Asians.

How long do you guys think you’re going to be there? I have work from 530-930 or so. I’m just wondering if it’ll be worth it to stop by.

We usually stay later than that
