Abe and I would prefer to host the meetup somewhere else. Who’s hopping aboard the Abe/Dave bandwagon? Im boycotting EGS’ faggottry as much as possible this year.
Whats your deal with egs? They give us a big place and tvs to play. What’s so bad about that?

Hello, I’m Oscar; that guy who showed up in ZeroFest tonight and looked confused. I’m a freshman under University Studies Program, currently dorming in Ellingson Hall.
I started really getting into fighting games after I found that Daigo “Evo Moment” video in Youtube. Yes, I’m one of those lame Street Fighter scrubs who wanted to play fighting games after watching that video.
I had no modern consoles (a Wii doesn’t really count), so I opted for SF3 emulation with a keyboard.
Yes, not even a pad.
Someone referred me to GGPO.net, and I scrubbed my way with a keyboard for a year or so. Granted, I used Yang (All you really needed to know is cmk into qcf qcf qcf), but I practiced parrying, found someone who’s willing to teach me game mechanics online, watched countless hours of 3rd Strike matches ,and really got into it so much that I bought myself a PS3 TE stick. Even if I didn’t have a PS3 until a year later. SFIV PC came out and dabbled 40, 50 hours or so into that. I really disliked it.
Bought a PS3 this summer, bought and played SSFIV (maybe 15 hours online with a lot of hours put into Challenge mode), SFII:HD Remix (10, 15 hours online?), and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (0 hours online, it’s too hard to get even remotely decent with so many good players. Just mostly did practice mode).
So, yeah, I’m still trying to get better at fighting games in general. I’m still primarily playing 3rd Strike (because I didn’t bring my PS3/a TV from home.) over in GGPO.
I love fighting games, I’ve tried to pretty much tried what I can find. Garou, Guilty Gear X2 #Reloaded, even Melty Blood:Act Candenza. For some reason.
I’m really happy there’s a community here in RIT, and I’m pretty stoked to getting destroyed by all of you in SSFIV/any other fighting game.

Oscar - Hey Oscar! nice to meet you. We never really got to talk but I was the guy yesterday with the blue hoody who runs the fight blog here in Rochester. You can call me Vinh. I call the shots around here (I still love saying that!!). Yeah, our SF3 crew is willing to get the scene back up and running here in Rochester. Our 3rd Strike scene is pretty hardcore so We’d love new additions as much as we can for the revival. Just don’t mention 3rd strike to the fresh new fighters like Dave and Jess. Their minds will explode. That’s right! I just trolled both your asses! WHAT NOW! >:-D
Yeah, we’ll teach ya new things you’ve never even seen here in Rochester (I’m just boasting). You’ll definitely learn a lot here in Rochester when you play against us since we’re a small group. We’re trying to get better and better every time we play.
Aww wish Ed was still here cause he plays melty blood too! He’s pretty hardcore in his playing style. Getting destroyed here in Rochester mean’s you’re growing as a player haha.

Okay so I think we need to talk about the Syracuse tournament because we haven’t really. We need a final list of who’s going and who is offering to drive.

Jess - haha jess, we totally talked about this when you left haha. Looks like Almost everyone is down for going to the cuse tournament but I’m still not having that awesome feeling of playing $30+ for entry. Gary say’s he may or may not make it. I still have to talk to him. We still got a couple of days to plan ahead.
Bernard - Haha, Sup bernard. Nice meeting you the other day, I was the guy who was playing Vega with ya for that one match haha. I totally owe you a real match next time, you can call me Vinh. You’ve got a pretty solid Cody and I hope we can get to play more

Why even post at all? I would like to meet at egs because I will not make it to many weekend meet ups due to my lack of car. I don’t see why you guys want to do it differently this year. I’m sure the new players would agree with that as well. I think I remember one of the freshman saying they didn’t have a car either. But if you want to “boycott egs faggotry” for reasons you don’t want to state then go ahead.
Jess, weren’t you talking about hosting some this year? Would solve some of your problems. I’d understand if certain people were banned…
i also posted a welcome. if others don’t want to go to EGS during the week, that shouldn’t stop you. I’d just prefer to have more private meetups during the week, if any. Especially this week, since the tournament is this sat/sunday. I have no classes on Fridays so if anyone wants to meet up and play LET ME KNOW!!

Gary- Yes i can host meetups but only on the weekends as my roommates get to bed early on weekdays. Also I would like to do it no more than once a month so I’m not a bother to them that way either.
I’m slightly annoyed that Syracuse slapped the ‘major’ title on it and then charges us 10 extra dollars for entry. They’ve put on some good tournies, but not major worthy. I understand they wanted hype and a better turn out, but really?!
Jess: i’m not sure what’s going on with EGS or Abe/Paul’s tomorrow…so, i might show up, since i’ll be on campus til 8, which is when EGS starts? And yeah, wow. if it isn’t really a major, i’d be pissed about the syracuse tourney, good point.
