Voice Actors for MvC3

You seem to be arguing by yourself because I am not disputing the accuracy of the lines and I have not said that magneto needs to sound young.

To me the va sounds comical, but to each his own.

do you usually end statements with lol’s?

anyway. The va sounds comical and that’s my opinion. There is nothing badass about him anymore and that’s a fact. You see? i too can state opinions as facts.

Actually the first VA was pretty comical too, as I said above.
This is probably because these characters are based on KIDS SHOWS that are based on Marvel comic-books! Why do people not realise this?

You want grimdark seriousness, go play Tekken. (No offence intended to Tekken, natch.)

Wolverine and the X-Men is quite grimdark serious (Xavier’s in a coma during the whole series) and Magneto’s voice is perfect. He doesn’t need to sound like a common street thug. He’s educated, regal, and well disciplined. He loves and respects Xavier despite having fundamental disagreements with his philosophy. That is Erik Lashnerr. A man with a messiah complex who completely believes that humans and mutants cannot coexist. After numerous defeats, he realizes that the best he can do is create a haven for mutants on Genosha. He’s a man in pain who causes violence out of his rage due to the mistreatment of his own kind.

It just blows my mind why anyone would want Magneto to sound like some raspy, hollow, one-dimensional, Snidely Whiplash type of villain. Comics and cartoons evolved kids, its time to grow up and see the evolution.

Just to add to my post, sorry: if there’s one thing I don’t want people to think is that I have no respect for comic-storylines etc.
It’s just that the MVC characters from past series have all been influenced by the animated, child-friendly adaptations.

It’s just nostalgia when you really think about it. There was nothing great about Mags voice in Marvel 2. When he says “BEGONE”, he sounds like someone from Chris Hansen’s How to catch a Predator or something.

this is pretty much what it boils down to.

It’s not WHAT he’s sayiing, it’s HOW. I don’t like the voice, it sounds lame, and no amount of epic paragraphs is going to convince me otherwise. I wasnt a fan of Old Man Sauron being Magneto in the Singer movies and im not a fan of this voice. I read comics all the time, hell, im an aspiring comic artist myself, and Magneto is neither old or stuffy. He’s a smart man, he’s Xaviers intellectual equal (the man designed a helmet that prevents X from reading his thoughts for crying out loud) but regal is not a word id ever use to describe Erik. He’s more of a seductive terrorist EYE EM OH

Didn’t mageneto even say that back in the OLD xmen game?

Ok just looked it up actually. This shit is
I think this voice actor is actually better than the new one hahahaha

Actually a friend just told me that its the same voice actor as the announcer from fat princess :stuck_out_tongue:

Erik and Xaviers’ secret love for each other, obviously. -smirk-

Magneto was in a concentration camp during the holocaust. He is definitely old. (wikipedia: “Magneto was born Max Eisenhardt sometime in the late 1920s”) He is also a grandfather. Even after his “rebirth” he’s still not the MvC2 Mags. I don’t know where you get seductive as a description for him but thats your opinion. He’s definitely old. Ian McKellen was as perfect for that role as Patrick Stewart was for Xavier.

Gandalf mate. McKellan was Gandalf. Christopher Lee was Sauron.

Doesn’t really matter what your particular taste is, but Magneto has undeniably been portrayed as an arrogant bastard who uses bombastic rhetoric in establishing his superiority to the feeble, untrustworthy humans. Tom Kane conveys all of those key character traits. ‘Seductive terrorist’ is probably the strangest description of Magneto I’ve heard. He’s not Tyler Durden.

Like all Marvel characters Magnus has been depicted in a number of ways. Depends whether you prefer snarly, muscle bound ‘badass’ Mags or coldly philosphical, nefarious genius Mags. Personally I find the former a little prepubescent and silly, but that’s me. Both are valid depictions, but you cannot argue truthfully that Tom Kane isn’t a faithful portrayal of the latter.

Anywho, I’m off for a pint. See ya.

Yeah it is. Someone mentioned that on another website. CAKE FOR EVERYONE!

He’s a great VA, but he just doesn’t fit magneto.

oh well. it’s not like capcom’s gonna change it anyway. I’ll just hope there’s a choice to use Japanese voices, which i doubt.

^Marvel characters are English only.

i’m sorry but Mr. Kane’s voice acting for Mags does not sound nefarious nor cold. It sound comically theatrical.

Mags deserves a better voice plain and simple. i also feel he deserves a less flashy costume but i realize this is the mags we all grew up with. Just not feeling the purp diaper  They seem to always get doom’s voice spot on luckily

On a side and somewhat related note. Watch the 90s X-Men cartoon now. Am I the only one who thinks that series is terribly dated with horrible voice acting and dumb plotholes? All centered around a mutant that was made for the show specifically?

the 90’s is dated in its entirety

Batman TAS doesn’t date itself at all.

TAS is awesome still, but the spidey and xmen cartoons are terrible in retrospect

he gets mutants to follow his cause and do terrorist actions on humans. mags is definitely a terrorist. although he hasnt done much “war against mankind” acts lately.

i wish he acted mor elike his ultimate self. ultimate mags > 616 mags.

I was speaking in terms of Marvel lore. But yes. Batman the animated series remains one of the best period
