Angry is not a word I’d use to describe him at all actually. He has never been portrayed in the comics as angry, he’s actually a very calm and calculated person, very much like Doom. Just because he resorts to violent acts of extremism and has a very frightening wrath you don’t want caught up in doesn’t make him angry. Namor would be an angry person, Magneto not so much.
That’s their relationship on the most bare bones level. Magneto is angry for what happened to him as a child in Auschwitz and now he’s angry that he’s seeing it again. That doesn’t mean he’s snarling and rabid all the time, but the exact opposite because being angry would simply show how like the homo-sapiens he is (while he is HOMO-SUPERIOR). He’s got the passion of Malcom X and he’s the aggressive protest/terrorism style that you could draw comparisons too but that in no way reflects how he sounds or collects himself. He thinks he’s superior to the humans around him, that’s where the arrogance comes from, and he sees himself as a messiah for his fellow mutants, which is where the regal air comes from.

Magneto has turned into a lame-ass nerd with voice acting and lines like “What hope did you have against the master of magnetism?”. oh well…
That’s what I was commenting on. His voice conveys a supercilious sense of greatness. You can’t have a ‘theatrical’ personality. You can have theatrical intonations and overall demeanour though and that’s how he was in the 90’s cartoon.
Are we talking about the same character? His entire role is of a false messiah for God sakes, of course he’s arrogant. He’s not some simple minded thug or generic ‘badass’.
They haven’t changed anything, they corrected a false idea of who people thought he was from a failed brief portrayal. His voice acting in the previous games was out of character completely.
Part of the quality control of voice acting IS personality. If you can’t capture who a character is with your voice it doesn’t matter how good you’re saying the lines. That’s like saying I can give Wolverine, Spider-Man’s VA and give him the exact same lines. It. Doesn’t. Work. And either way, you’re talking about personality just as much so don’t bar a part of the argument that’s not keeping weight on your end.
Also, if you think that the “What hope do you have against the Master of Magnetism” is a line that appeared because of the currents cartoons and movies than you know even less about Magneto than I thought. That line is famous, that’s why they put it in there. Unfortunately it’s the Marvel games and the Evolution series that have shown a generation (obviously you and Nick Guy) this misconception of who Magneto is. His past is dark, his actions are gritty, but how he presents himself (which INCLUDES how he talks) is not and has never been.

It seems that you have a problem understanding what the issue actually is and it’s the va’s voice NOT the va’s voice acting. The accent and vocal tone of the va’s voice makes this magneto sound comical.
I find it strange that you would use assumptions to drive your point.
As i’ve said before, magneto’s mvc3 va sounds corny, cheesy, and comical no matter what he says.
See and the big flaw in your argument is that how you think the VA sounds, and how you interpret the accent he’s chosen is your opinion. How accurate the lines are and how well he delivers them, that’s fact. I don’t think Magneto sounds comical at all, his accent is what it should be (He’s old again, not like in the 90s where he was reborn) and the vocal tone is that grandeur boom that he needs. Now what I just said, that’s also an opinion so we’ll never agree on that obviously, but as for the lines they’re accurate to the comic and how Magneto has always been portrayed. That’s solid fact.
About as strange an assumption as you believing that the films have in anyway skewed how we see Magneto’s character in our eyes, so I simply just turned that around and said that it was those who thought the voice was wrong with the misconception. You didn’t recognize a well used quote so I pointed that out to you. If you find that you still believe the VA is comical sounding that’s fine, I don’t think it does, but if you say it doesn’t fit his character, that’s just plain wrong lol.
You actually made a direct reference to a quote that is a staple of the character. I don’t think lame-ass nerd is by any means even close to how his voice sounds at all. Unless you’re considering him a lame nerd because he sounds intelligent and arrogant instead of straight-from-the-streets gritty. Then your argument would make a lick of sense, yet still be invalid. Then again, you just changed your opinion from sounding like a nerd, to sounding comical, so it’s hard to keep track of what you’re actually trying to get across anyway.
Magneto’s new voice is CLEARLY as close to Ian Mckellen as they could find (as they did for IM etc.)
Plus, the old one was like Cobra Commander crossed with Starscream.
