Well hopefully customization is the name of the game and I can configure Capcom voices as I wish
TOUCHDOWN!
Right?
As much as i dislike some of the voice actors(like Magnus), we shouldn’t worry too much about it. They know which va’s work and which don’t.
Eventually they’ll find a va with a sinister gritty tone for Magnus, An epic va for Captain America and whatever else they need.
another problem they have right now are the lines that Marvel wrote for their cast, because they are somewhat cheesy.
What we SHOULD do is make a list of generally approved va’s and put that list on this thread’s first post. So that anyone from marvel can quickly see what we like.
I’m still confused
He sounds pretty much how I’d expect an American soldier to sound. Is it because it’s quite bland? I think that’s more a problem of the character. It’s not like you can give Cap’n a zany, eccentric or plain memorable voice.
I don’t think they’re worrying too much about what we think of the VA’s, that’s probably the least of their concerns when it comes to user feedback. Personally though, I think that Magneto is fine, anyone who thinks that Magneto should sound gritty or sinister doesn’t know the character. The man is educated, he doesn’t believe he’s evil but more like he’s supposed to lead his oppressed people like a messiah. He’s supposed to sound regal just like he did in the 90’s cartoon, Ultimate Alliance, the latest X-Men cartoon and finally the films. Marvel has never wanted him to sound like he did in the V.S games, most people who know Magneto from that have this wrong idea of him.
As for the writing being cheesy, I have to disagree. The dialogue is so in character for all of the Marvel characters it hurts. I couldn’t see Spider-Man or Deadpool saying anything else and wouldn’t want to as their lines are amazing as is (and disgustingly in character lol). Captain America is dry and patriotic, Iron Man is as sarcastic as he is narcissistic and Thor can’t stop talking about Asgard for 5 seconds. It’s who those characters are and the lines right now work well with that.
So I guess, in the end, as a long time marvel reader I’d have to disagree with the complaints I’m hearing. Most people want the MVC1-2 voices back, but that’s just a lot of nostalgia.
Wow, I think you covered everything quite perfectly.
I agree whole-heartedly.
WHY?! It doesn’t make a lick of sense! The English is fantastic! Do you enjoy not understanding half the cast?
Edit:Paper tank knows what’s up.
Oh god, Paper_Tank… I think I’m gonna cry. You hit the nail on the head, wow. Thank you.
If anything, Felicia’s JPN will be about the same as the English, you simply won’t be able to understand her.
Chun’s English VA sounds ok, I suppose. Ryu English VA is also good, but… it’s Ryu. He’s probably the only character that never seems right speaking perfect English, regardless of the level of voice-acting. It’s like Japanese Dudley. The VA sounds pretty good (I guess), but it just doesn’t fit the character.
he could speak clearly, not like his mouth is full of cotton balls.
When I hear Magneto VA from MVC3 I think about this who knows maybe it is the same dude doing the VA “The Legend Of The Curly Mustache”
Lol, yeah I see your point now.
I’m sorry, but in the 90’s and current cartoons, his voice has dark or gritty tone

X-Men (1992) - Season 3, Episode 48 at Marvel.com
You might need to check your ears because magneto’s mvc3 and ultimate alliance va’s both have a bright and cheesy tone.

Magneto in MvC3 = Magneto in Wolverine and the X-Men. That’s the current VA, deal with it.
I agree word for word
Did you watch the same 90’s cartoon as me? Magneto exudes regal arrogance and superiority. Gritty? Dark? Nothing of the sort. He’s positively theatrical! In Evolution he’s a little coarse, but Evolution changed A LOT of character details!
Now I remember why I never liked Jean, her costume in the 90’s cartoon was terrible!
In evolution he was a much younger Magneto, not the 616 counterpart we have in MVC3, he was more along the lines of his darker, more sinister Ultimate Universe counterpart. In THAT case, the grit your teeth growl makes sense.
As for the 90’s X-Men, you should watch the third episode of the series, Magneto’s debut and there in you find the Magneto I’m talking about and the one that everyone who ever watched the X-Men in the 90’s knows. That regal, Shakespearean voice which wasn’t sinister but simply bloomed with this self-confidence.

The only difference is that the 90’s voice was far more throaty, more of a growl than the booming we see now.
Agreed. Magneto shouldn’t be gritty or dark at all. Ian McKellen portrayed him perfectly in the films.
