Because even tho MvC2 was one just game out of the series, it lasted 10 years and it got all of the VS series glory. Wolverine was nerfed to the ground in MvC2 for a good reason. Even tho he’s waaaay too easy to play, I actually like MvC3 Wolvie because it brings him back to S-tier status that he had in COTA/MSH/XvSF/MvSF/MvC1 (i.e. every VS game that wasn’t MvC2).
Actually since people were on the Noah thing a while back I realized Noah taught me something about Sentinel that I didn’t quite realize before. One thing that he was doing to people that I couldn’t figure out was the amount of times he was able to grab people up with Sentinel’s NORMAL grab. I thought i was seeing things with him grabbing up people during block strings at ranges that seemed like you’d need a command grab to reach people with.
I went into training mode and realize Sentinel has one of the largest if not, the largest normal grab range in the game. Obviously being a young kid he was probably just pressing on forward or back and H sometimes but probably didn’t even realize himself that he was getting people with nasty ranged regular throws. This probably threw people off at tournaments because most other Sentinels usually go for command grab or just try to run the armor. So he probably threw people off thinking the armor was coming and then ends up regular grabbing them into combos from a range that most other characters can’t reliably regular grab from. They were trying to rush in and press normals on him and as soon as there was a gap in their pressure…one frame grab to a bunch of damage or even death if he turned on XF and flew over. Command grab has longer range and the L one is only one frame slower but you don’t get combos unless they’re in the corner usually and the recovery is garbage.
An example is like if Sentinel hits C.Viper at point blank range with a c.L, it puts Viper outside of the range to regular grab him, but he can still regular grab her at that range.
I nkew for sure that different characters had different air throw ranges (Ammy/Modok can air throw you from downtown) but Sentinel’s normal grab range seems to be a cut above the rest of the normal grabs in range.
When it comes down to it I guess Noah wasn’t really doing anything but stacking himself up with lesser technology style Viscant play. Just get characters and strategies together on a team that will screw up people that press a lot of buttons. Which will throw them out of their normal “ITS MAAAHHHVEL BABY I CAN BE YIPES TOO” offense. One frame normal grabs are really good for stopping pressure that isn’t air tight especially after you block an air normal also. Definitely saw a lot of Noah regular grabbing after blocking jump ins.
That’s not what he is saying fool, He is saying when it comes down to it it isn’t even about fun. It is about winning. THAT IS IT!
You don’t go to a tournament thinking “Imma do well, earn respect and not make people salty with my Iron man, Morrigan, Ryu team!” you go to a tournament to win, if not then why are you even there?
That’s why YOU go to a tournament, ‘fool’. I go to a tournament wanting to win, but not expecting it cause guess what, it is a realistic approach. The response to that is “Well, you just don’t want it bad enough.” which is a stupid response. You can be realistic and not be negative, people just assume you are being so. If I went to Evo, and got into top 8 I’d be happy with that.
And yes, he was saying be cheap, and make the other player salty. The way you put it, it is like saying people play Football for just the money, when there is A LOT of other ways to make WAY more money that don’t involve nearly as much work.
If you honestly believe what you’re saying, Why are you not a prfessional football player? or why didnt you win EVO. People like you constantly complain about cheap tactics.
No one will ever say Viscant is bad at the game because he was not the only one using that team, he was not unbeatable either. But at the end of the day he still came out as the best.
No one wants second place or to ‘Just do there best.’ if there best isn’t good enough, everyone wants to win. And that is the reality of things.
If you could ask PR Rog if he thought his level 3 Tron grab on Pheonix was the real victory at EVO im sure he would tell you “No.” because he didn’t win.
And it’s not about the money either. It’s about being number one, if you don’t understand that i have no idea why you’re even still here
I haven’t posted here since the flood came through, but this thread is to funny. Thanks for making me laugh DevilJin. I love all the people that completely missed the point of the original post lolol.
For what it’s worth, though, he was the only player this year to make it into top 8 for more than one game. In fact, he was in the top 8 at Evo for more of the (official) games than he wasn’t: three out of five. That is pretty remarkable, if you ask me.
