Virtua Stick High Grade & Hori Fighting Stick 3

Yeah, my custom sanwa gives me no problems whatsoever when I play DR on PS3. So it’s definitely not Sanwa pushbuttons at fault here, maybe AM2 told Sega engineers to screw over Namco games? :looney:

I got two brand new ones for sale.

I’ve also been selling the elecom converters on TZ also.

I rarely check my pm’s cause I’m rarely on SRK but you can reach me on TZ if you want.

Apparently with the new PS3 firmware the VSHG is now working on PS2 fighters.
I’ve not had a chance to download the new firmware yet, and don’t actually have any PS2 games to try, but I thought the information might be useful to somebody!

Supposedly the Hori RAP 3 still doesn’t work though.

Anyone else other than brightsons get the Fighting Stick 3 to work on a PC? I’m using Vista and the drivers installs. but nothing works when I press the buttons.

Thanks

Anyone know if a spring from Happ Competition will fit in the JLF for the VSHG? Doubling up springs just makes it sluggish as opposed to stiff and responsive.

Reposing some info I put in the other thread. It is probably more interesting here since it has to deal with VSHG.

So yeah, I did some testing just now with just my VSHG. Here’s some “interesting” info. It does work with BC (I tried it only with Tekken 5).

The real interesting point is that many people know that there has been some issues with the VSHG on DR. 3 button presses were inconsistent. I wanted to see if it was the stick’s problem or not so I tested with DR AND T5 (PS2) after the firmware update.

DR still had the same problems. 3 button presses like Bryan’s taunt were still very much inconsistent. When I tried it with T5 using BC, not only did the VSHG work, but it worked with no issues. I could taunt with Bryan freely. I can’t say if there is NO lag but I can say it’s at most 2 frames. I was doing taunt into f,b+2 over 50% of the time and that is pretty strict. I didn’t feel any lag either. So I think there is no lag, but at most it’s 2 frames.

So in conclusion, there is nothing wrong with the VSHG alone. It is either a problem solely with DR (probably not since HRAP3 works fine) or a weird handshaking issue between DR and VSHG.

I will do some tests with PS1 digital and analog to help reaffirm what has been said in here already.

I did some testing my self and came to the conclusion that the VSHG is always in analog mode including the buttons when playing DR which cause the buttons to be extra sensitve or just not as responsive, This is an issue that is with DR VF works perfect another thing I did was pop in Tekken 5 (PS2)and the VSHG auto switched to digital and button inputs were much improved, I would almsot say perfect. In short there is certainly an issue with the VSHG not switching to Digital mode in DR automatically which is most likely the reason for failed response on button inputs.

This is also very fixable through a FW update. All we would need is the option to switch our controllers/joysticks between Digital and analog and save the option. I dont think sony knows about the problem we need to write to them or get there attention on this, The VSHG wasnt cheap and I am sure we all would like to use this Awesome Stick with all our fighting games for me especially tekken DR and Tekken 6.

Can somebody confirm that after the 1.7 firmware update the VSHG is also backward compatible with a European PS3?

Also - was the backward compatibility problem only in PS2 games and not in PS1 games? I though I tested a PS1 game and couldn’t use the VSHG but now I’m not sure that was the case. I can’t test it anymore with the 1.7 firmware (in which the stick works). Weird question I know…

I wouldn’t mind signing a petition to Sony to ask them to fix the VSHG problem for DR considering that I own two of the sticks myself. I agree with inforcer, considering the sticks were expensive, this issue should be fixed.

I meant to buy a different stick, but the place i ordered from sent me FS3 instead. Waiting for them to get back to me about this but in the mean time I tried it on my pc as well. I can get the stick to recognize but none of the buttons register with windows xp sp2. Weird, wonder what it is.

i just read a review of the sega stick on 1up.com, which i think is new and they say the stick will most likely work with the 360 version of vf. the home button will act like the 360 guide button. so has anyone even tried using this stick on a 360?

I just plugged my VSHG into my 360 and it’s not recognised at all. Absolutely nothing. :frowning:

does anyone know the best ps2->usb converter
completely lag free

Whoever wrote that review doesn’t understand how Xbox 360 controllers work. If a controller does not have a Microsoft license in its PCB, it will be ignored when connected to an Xbox 360, as El Viento experienced.

It’s possible that Sega could license the 360 wired controller tech and make a 360 version of the VSHG, but it’s all contingent on whether Sega believes it’s economically viable to release one. 360 has anemic sales in Japan, but the joystick could do well in the US and Europe where the system is more popular. However, the shipping costs will probably raise the MSRP of the stick close to $100.

For the hori stick people I found this driver for the sixaxis, it might work, didn’t for me but this thing seems pretty random.

VF5 isn’t getting a X360 release in Japan, and considering the VSHG is Japan only, I doubt we’ll ever see a X360 version of the stick.

Could an owner of a European PS3 confirm that now after the 1.7 firmware update the VSHG is PS2 backward compatible in a European PS3? I need to be sure.

i think he meant the stick not the game

Yeah, but the regions still don’t match up. They’re not going to make a version of the VSHG for 360 in Japan as VF5 isn’t getting a 360 release over there.

Japan’s the only place they’re releasing the VSHG too.

If Sega wanted to oficially release the stick outside of Japan they would have already done so. VF5 not hitting the 360 in Japan makes the chances of a US / Rest of World VSHG for 360 less likely.
