Its still about the consumer. Microsoft went the extra distance to get Sega to put online on their console to have something that the competitions version did not. Microsoft is giving more to the people who are buying their products so they will be happier. The consumers get what they want, an online virtua fighter, but only if they go to the console that went the extra distance to give it to them. If their is anyone you should be mad at coffee its Sony for not going the distance to give the consumer what they want.
You’re not grasping what I’m saying. I’m saying that it’s more of a pissing match between companies than it is trying to please all consumers. That’s what 3rd parties should be doing because they’re 3rd parties. They are free to make games on all platforms, or make games for only 1.
If you look at Namco, they have Soul Calibur IV on both consoles with both online. So they are giving each system the same feature and not alienating one or the other. Right now, my experience with that is Rainbow Six Vegas. Has online and achievements just like the 360 edition, with mappacks the 360 got. So really you have to take a step back and look at what’s going on here.
edit:
Another prime example. Armored Core 4, by SEGA, both online, just like the 360 version. Is it any coincidence that Sega’s flagship tennis game and Sega’s flagship fighter goes online for one platform and the other one doesn’t? Yet they support AC4 and Sonic for the PS3? It’s all gaming politics man, there’s only so far to where it becomes more of a company battle then it is for gamers. You essentially have to pay 1149.97 before taxes to get the entire experiece and looking at that number, I could buy a computer and do more things with it than buy 3 consoles and having to pick and choose between all 3 of them for who has what. I don’t mind when they are first party games, but third party games? gimme a break man.
So companies have to be bribed now in order to get the good stuff? Seems to me they were just unwilling to invest in a model until MS came along and chucked them barrels full of cash. Back in the old days, it never took bribing a company to get games to play the way they should. Paid for exclusives? definitely. Paid for features? A whole nother story.
It’s not about you.
You’re also not seeing the big picture. It’s business, the companies are doing whatever it takes to survive, because you can’t please everybody. Companies stay around as long as they can, trying to please and make life easier and entertaining for as long as possible, including themselves in order to maintain that.
That’s why it’s not just about you.
360 owners are extremely happy right now.
PS3 owners are upset cause they didn’t get those features, yet they have the game like 7 months earlier.
Some games don’t even last a week in the mainstream. People rent a game and that’s it, or they beat it one time and return it, PS3 owners have a 7 month headstart on that process alone.
Also, the game wasn’t even going to be online. But seems as though Microsoft made Sega an offer they can’t refuse.
Why are you hating?
It’s not just about you.
PS3 owners are pissed, buuuuut… now 360 owners are happy, Sega is happy, Microsoft is happy, VF fans(which to include even ps3 owners) are happy, new VF fans(which to include even ps3 owners) are going to be happy,
What is wrong with you?
Armored Core 4 isn’t made by Sega, it’s published by them.
I’m more upset about VT3 not having an online mode on PS3. AM2 can suck it.
You guys can keep the WTFLAGPPPKPPPK spam (I have a 360, I just refuse to play VF online when I have local comp).
All the better for you. It’s great to have local comp, but when the local comp exists solely with myself and my two brothers for about 100 mile radius, I’m more than happy to put up with “WTFLAGPPPKPPPK spam”.
I don’t see why you would need to buy all 3 consoles.
I mean to play VF5 and get the entire experience I would just have to spend $329.98 (360 + memory card). well i guess you could chalk up the extra $50 for Live Gold, so $379.98.
I’m the consumer. It’s about me as much as it is about you. Ever heard the saying that the customer is always right? Well, I am right. I think that most developers would agree with me too.
I think that you’re not seeing the big picture. I made examples of how multiple companies ARE trying to please everybody and they are successful in that. But due to game politics, SEGA shunned their PS3 fanbase.
Lemme correct your statement that it’s only the VF5 owners that are upset. And we have every right to be. Sure we got the game 7 months earlier, but the game can be patched, just like how Oblivion on 360 has been patched w/ 2 expansions as of late, and they got the game 7 months earlier too. I just have no problem paying extra cash for it, to make up for dev costs and to make a little profit. They’re not even giving us that option. But hey, I’m done with that argument, so I won’t comment on it any further.
In the case of VF5, sure, but you gotta think that not everybody are hardcore fighting gamers. People just want to have fun, and a way for them to have fun is online, we aren’t getting online, and people know that. So a rent is all that they give VF5 and the game is gone 7 days later. Can’t knock that man, it’s how it is.
Because game politics got in the way of my fun. It’s not even a matter of Sega can’t do the feature on the PS3, as online is standard on all consoles. It’s a matter of sega getting cash and a dev team handed to them just to get a feature up and running, when they could do it themselves. In which generation do you know of, that has someone else’s dev team help another dev team out, and getting paid for it? Doesn’t that tell you that the original developer themselves were too lazy/cheap to do it themselves? Wheres the excuse in that? There is none. It’s unforgiveable.
PS3 owners are pissed? More like VF fans are pissed I think you are getting the wrong picture here. As a PS3 owner, I’m happier than I ever could be. We’re getting Lair and Warhawk next month, Heavenly Sword month after that, Call of Duty 4, Uncharted Drake’s Fortune sometime after that, Unreal Tournament III in November (which is btw exclusive to PS3/PC until mid 2008). We’re also getting MGS4 early 2008, so right now is an exciting time to be a PS3 owner. You can have your Virtua Fighter, but I’ll be playing Tekken 5 DR/Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur IV online as how it should be.
I don’t see why you would need to buy all 3 consoles.
Well I meant games in general. Essentially to get the entire experience of the best 3rd parties, all 1st parties, you do have to buy all 3 consoles. When you get a multiplatform game for instance, you’d have to look to see which one’s better on the 360 or the PS3 and pick one. If you only have 1, you had better hope it’s the best one and it’s not missing anything. Oh, and please don’t buy the tard pack. Look at your calculations, just add 20-30 dollars more and you can have packed in headset, 1 month free of XBL and a 20gb harddrive.
vf.net helped out the tekken 5 team for the character customization and card save feature, on a sidenote u3 only matters on pcs pads blow for fps
I can deal with that. VF5 online >>>>>>>> T5DR/6 + SCIV.
Agreed…and it’s not even close.
Unreal Tournament III for PS3 features keyboard/mouse support as well as user addon’s just like the PC version. In fact the addons you find for the PC can be used for the PS3.
whatever floats your boat man. But I think VF5 can’t hold a candle to Tekken or Soul Calibur. To me, they never have. Tekken and SC are much more furious and faster paced and are more fun to me. I always loved Tekken’s juggle system, it’s a lot harder than any other 3d fighting game’s juggle system and Soul Calibur just has that mass appeal, I also like the medievil fantasy setting w/ weapons. It’s currently the best weapons fighter out there. I think all VF5 is, is a 3d SF w/ down punch to balance out the game.
some of what cofeerox has said makes sense, but you deffinetly are underestimating virtua fighter
tekken and soul (especially) have a more epic gameplay. but vf5 is something that people will always come back to, its gonna be in there blood once theyv settled in.
personaly my moneys on soul which is multiplatform.
ps3=tekken online
360=VF online
btw since u hav to pay for xlive the server for vf will probably be nurtured as much as it needs to be.
everyones happy.
p.s: i personally prefer UC2 to UT
loling at people saying VF isn’t fast paced or furious. Pull your head out of your ass.
Coffe, get the sand out of your vagina. How long have you been gaming, supposedly? This shit is nothing new.
ver.C update for PS3 @ TGS. Bet it.
Watch a VF5 Lei mirror match. Then tell me VF is slow.
I love it when people pull this shit. VF is not as “epic” as someone else stated, but it’s a hell of a lot faster as far as the engine itself. Please, don’t spit shit you have no understanding of.
VF 5 is tremendously slow…
Until you learn how to play it
The $50 for Xbox Live is a constant on either core or premium. And if I were buying solely for VF5 (which I know now isn’t what you were talking about but it was what I was talking about) then for $329.98 I get VF5 with Memory Card (That I can take to gatherings). The 1 month free of XBL is with any 360 (core/premium/elite), and you can get a headset for $9.99 at any EB/GS.
So for a guy like me, who doesn’t have much money these days, and wants to save up for a 360. I could see it takes less time for me to save up and get a 360 at $339.97 and put the remaining $59.99 towards VF5.
If I were to buy a Harddrive, I’d save up for the $179.99 120gb one than pay for a 20gig. Since I just need the 64mb save for VF5 I’ll worry about a Harddrive later.
Wtf, so this whole time you’ve been complaining about ps3 not getting online play for a game YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY?
Hell, in a sense, isn’t EVERY fighting game slow at low levels of play?
