Virtua Fighter 5 IS online

Even if Sega got exclusivity, does it really mean anything, as Sega’s been shown that they are unafraid to piss off customers- this being an example, as well as their entire PC division. They could easily make a “Special Champion Edition” of VF5. I’m just wondering how much I’d like the series if I played it online. Most of my play was vs the comp- which was fun and challenging enough until I figured out the patterns from playing it too much.

I also hope that they make the items all purchaseable instead of having to fulfill conditions, since some conditions were too hard. (Win 20 matches without backdashing for example)

Ugh, I just find when people try to make this as Sega purposely pissing off fans by adding things to the Xbox 360 version of the game as amusing. As if Sega sat around in a board room and the president said, “You know what? Fuck those Sony bastards and their little dogs too!”

Because of online everyone expects every little thing added to a game to be made available for them too, without even knowing how easily it can be done.

Just take a step back and view it like games were generations ago. No one was saying Konami was trying to piss off fans when they added extra bosses, gear, and a character to Castlevania: SoTN. You just understood that sometimes when you have a later port, they add stuff. They could have re-released that version for PSX, but they didn’t, and I still don’t remember anyone crying about it.

Also for those balking at online play, it may be something that’s not for you, but you have to remember the casual gamer community. If you don’t like online, you can certainly sit there and play by yourself, or if you have friends who play, more power to you, but for a game with this high a learning curve, having online play I think only helps keep casual gamers interested. Online the games are never exactly the same as offline, and by no means is it a complete replacement, but for many it’ll still be fun, regardless of what the game resembles by then.

Yeah I don’t get this fanboy BS at all. Did people get this pissy when online mode was added to Xbox 1 ports last gen?

well duh. the library isn’t huge, nor the fact that there isn’t enough good games to warrant a ps3 purchase.

xbox 360 >>>>>>>>>> ps3

If you are a true Virtua Fighter fan then you should be as overjoyed as I am.

We are getting VF5 with ONLINE and VER. C. I don’t give a fuck if it’s on Xbox, PS3, I don’t give a fuck if it’s on Wii or the goddamn 3DO, the point is we are getting it! We should all be thanking Sega.

We asked for online play, we got online play. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Absolutely.

SEGA is finally pushing more with VF.

Hopefully the VF scene explodes.

“Are you ready for this?”

I am normally wary of this new-fangled extra dimension the kids go on and on about. But if VF5 has online capabilities, count me in.

“You’ll enjoy this. Trust me. Ready?”

“YeaAAAHHHHhhhhhh!”

 …I hate you, Psycho Mantis. You read my mind.

“IT’S LIKE YOU’RE MOVING IN SLOW MOTION!”

Bear - Hell yeah. I got them ESP powers.

 i already said that this is gonna happen

HOLY SHIT

Where the fuck have you been hiding? lol

Outer space, cracka.

Before online was announced for the 360 version I was sort of thinking “I’ll probably pick this up, just probably not right away.” Now I’m thinking “Yes a good fighter for the 360 with XBL vs. mode, now, where do I get the money? Mom?!?!?”

yeah, but you can’t tell me with a 100% guarantee that vf5 online will be frame-to-frame perfect.

I’m all for online play and inclusion of as many people into the vf scene as possible, but all I’m afraid of is the random induhvidual that goes around saying, “000h b0i ! look 11!! I beat a ton of people who havn’t had a lot of practice online !! that makes m3 L33337 3xtreeeeeemmzzz00rz !” The vf scene is pretty laid back from what I’ve seen and the people are nice, I just don’t want it to turn to mush, that’s all and I think that embodies the frustration you’re probably seeing on VFDC.

I’m sorry, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you want the scene to get bigger, you’ll have to accept the fact that you’ll be getting more idiots as well as more cool people. If you make the game more accessible to more people, then it’s inevitable that more of the people who play will be the average “OMG L33TZOR” gamer. If the VF community truly wants to grow, they’ll just have to accept that, and beat them into submission until they stfu like the rest of the fighting scene has learned to do.

VF is cyanide for scrubs. They’ll realize that VF takes skill and patience to play, and they’ll take out VF, put in DOA, and console themselves with fake boobies.

That’s why I’m excited that finally a decent and skillful fighter is going to be online and get rid of the scrubs

What makes it great is that I see SRK’s wanting to get into the game now that its online, soon we might have a grand VF community that VF really deserves in the states!

Maybe online will help VF5 reach the level of popularity that VF2 had in Japan and worldwide. But seriously, the first few people to have the name Chibita, BunBunMaru, Ohsu, or any japanese VF pro (and not living up to the name at all) deserve to get shot!
