I suggest you guys get an earlier version of VF, like 3 or 4, in the meantime because the learning curve is the widest in any fighting game IMO.
The fan base is pretty large becuase of being able to play SF on XBL and the PS3 costs way too much.
Anyways this is good news. As long as it at least has CFJ or HF netcode i think it’ll play fine. It be even better if it had GGPO netcode hint hint
Might have to go reclaim VF4 EVO from my neighbor, or go to my friend’s house. He’s got VF5 on the PS3, gotta get back into it
Sup man chuck me ya msn addy XD but we should hit up some VF for the mean time i got 4 and EVO on ps2 for some practice like
VF imo is the most indeapth fighter there is there are just so many things going on , I have yet to play VF5 so i await the 360 version and a stick so i can really get into it :lovin:
Phix
VF4: Evo on PS2 has a really good training mode. A lot of the character specific stuff still applies to VF5 and it teaches you things like open/closed foot stance, evading, evade throw escapes, crouch buffering, fuzzy guarding, etc. There are also exercises to practice each technique. The combos have changed a bit for VF5 - they have for Pai anyway - but it’s really good for getting the basics down.
It’s a shame more fighting games don’t have training modes like that, it actually makes the learning part pretty good fun.
(and thanks for the rep save guys, much appreciated!)
Are there region lock outs on the 360? Because I don’t think VF5 for 360 will be available for the Japanese market.
Yeah there is region lockout (I think it’s up to the publisher whether to enforce it or not) but VF5 is coming out for 360 in Japan as well.
I’m very happy about this. Can’t wait intill October.
It won’t be perfect, but it dosn’t need to be to be fun.
My Shun Di, let me show you him.
Yup yup. I was one of the nah-sayers. I will never challenge Magic-box’s godlyness ever again.
PS3 early adopters got shafted pretty hard on this one…
Glad I waited it out though. All that’s left now is to hope the netplay is smooth. Even if it isn’t though, I’m glad they at least bothered to implement it.
Though if the netplay thing is received well I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get it online on the PS3, whether it be through a re-release or some kind of patch.
Dear AM2:
THANK YOU. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou. I take back all the shit I said about you a couple of weeks ago. I absolve thee. This is all I wanted. Just this. Nothing more. Even if it’s laggy as shit, it’s better than the CPU. Keep up the good work. You can bet I shall have this in my 360.
Love,
Your devoted fan

Good things does happens to those who wait
This is the best news I heard this year, well besides that SF HD that is coming soon!
I still in great joy that a decent fighter is finally going online, no more crappy scrubby DOA4 matches anymore :bgrin:
Even if its not perfect online, C’mon its freaking VF5 with online play :bgrin:
I’m glad I still have my 360, now getting a decent joystick is the one thing on my wish list!!
Nice.
yes, but some part of me wants to believe that they may at least TRY to make a better stick. That and I like VF more than DOA therefore VF stick>DOA stick, but that’s purely subjective so I guess that last one doesn’t matter as much.
Also on another note, the advent of online on VF seems contradictory on AM2’s part. In previous interviews they seemed pretty rock solid that they wouldn’t do online play because they’d sacrifice the frame-on accuracy. My bet is that Microsoft must have paid some money to get this to happen and Sega Sammy HQ forced the online feature. I can’t think of any other explaination for such a contrast in claim and feature. I welcome online, but to tell you the truth, it’s really puzzling me as to what changed their mind. Kudos anyways I guess.
Also, from what I remember, VF5 is regionally exclusive. Meaning VF5 is really only exclusive in the region that really matters when it comes to VF5 (financially) : Japan. So I’m not sure that we’ll get to play real Japanese players. And if what Perfect Legend said about DOA online rings true for VF, skill won’t matter as much because of the more inherent randomness of online play anyways.
prays for ver.C update through PSN
Up in WA we have the best NAF player so online is no concern for me.
Just glad more people will pick this up.
VF=most underrated fighter.
If Sega cares anything about making money, they’ll surely release the Version C and online patch for PS3 in some point in time.
But, something tells me that Microsoft has at least timed exclusivity on this.
I’m banking on that too.
Also, with the 360’s up and coming stick. There is a chance that it might be a bit higher quality than the DoA stick. Price of it falls in between the DoA stick and the HRAP3, so we’ll see. The current fighting stick for the PS3 is very playable, I prefer the HRAP3 and VFHG over it without question, but in all fairness, I can execute everything I’ve learned on it.
ok ok ok…everyone keeps saying VF online is contradictory, but VF2 has been playable online for YEARS now…
Well, Doa is just inherently random and even moreso online.
Remember when most reviewers were shafting the PS3 version of VF5 because of the “things” it lacked? Let’s see how they react to VF5 360 now. Same goes for the casual people (no matter how “unimportant” they may be).
This seems awesome, but the guys at VFDC are extremely pissed. AM2 must’ve been payed tons of money to pull this off, but I’m glad that they did. Laggy or not, we at least get to play online WITH OUR CUSTOMIZED CHARACTERS! They eventually seem to be fixing all the flaws of the PS3 version (how minor they are) for the 360 release, which would probably result in the greatest fighting game of this generation.
You can bet I’m getting a 360 on my B-day and you can expect to see me on XBL.
I never got into VF series, now its time!!!
