Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

Yeah man. The whole lease only and within Japan only thing confused me tremendously. You know damn well they would have been able to sell cabinets to China and Korea with ease.

and yet Street Fighter IV get’s a console “sequel” nearly a year and a half later:bluu:

Oh well, still keeping my fingers crossed.

I wasn’t referring to its popularity or financial success, but rather its distribution method which made any sort of global scene literally impossible and was still pretty hard on arcade owners in Japan.

Capcom know they have to justify SSF4 for the casuals so they added 10(!) characters to the roster. (Actually for us hardcore it’s kind of a bad thing since there’s no way to keep 35 characters both unique and balanced)

GGXXAC added no characters at all, just had huge changes for the existing cast, but it was more than enough for its hardcore players.

Innumerable tears of not-hype burst out of my eyes and stream down my face PWaaahhh

Ryo should have been driving a fork truck instead of a motorcycle

Haha, that would have been classic.

Also, WTF on the Jacky/Akira team-up. I didn’t even know VF made it into this kart game, and seeing Akira shoulder slam a frickin’ sports Lamborghini whatever car to make it go faster is…well…WTF.

My heart just skipped a beat. What the hell sega!

He does. Both as his All-Star and as a secret character as well.

Man, Sega is fuckin up.

Ryo Hazuki = INSTANT HYPE.

If sega is smart hahaha they will release it on consoles with online play.

I would love a port for VF5:FS.

The VF series is not very well played here in America.
IDK why so many people find the series so “boring, unattractive”. The gameplay of most VFs were excellent.

The series as a whole is mostly seen as dull here in America.

I hope this version gets ported to consoles. I have the PS3 version of VF5 but for some reason the game hangs randomly. It puts me off playing the game. Anyone else have this problem?

^^^^^^^^^^

no I play on XB360

I think you’ve got a bad disc man. I’ve never had a problem with mine, and I’ve played at other friends’ houses who have the game and the problem has never occurred.

Thought so too, but the disc seems perfectly fine. No scratches or anything. Either way, it’s a pretty bad port. The load times rival T6:BR

It’s because there are no air dashes. lol

Seriously though, VF is one of the best fighters ever. I’ve been playing since the first one came out and it’s the game that got me into fighters. It truly is a shame that VF is looked down upon in the U.S.

It’s looked down upon in the US because it still has 90’s style presentation with minimal effects, boring and uninspired character design (debatable, but that’s firmly my opinion), cheesy, cheesy voiceover, some very boring level designs etc. And to be honest, I could never get into it for that reason. Call it a minor issue but presentation is a part of the whole package. If it’s not appealing then… it’s not appealing. That’s my biggest issue with it. It *feels *like a 90’s arcade fighter.
