Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown

the original document is still relevant, it was more about sending SEGA a message that people outside of Japan actually care about their game than it was to ask for a specific version.

Do fucking want nao!!

If sega fucking ports this to consoles and releases stateside, i’ll forgive them…but just a little.

They still have to make up for almost 10 years of shit games. Sonic 4 and a POSSIBLY NOT being ported VF5 update won’t do it.

I’m surprised we’re still getting the Yakuza games…They don’t even get good press even though they never disappoint.

Did 2 even sell all that well? If not, it’s a fucking shame.

Good man.

WhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!

Oh god oh god akira was sick, oh god oh god oh god…OH GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD ITS NEVER GONNA COME GUYS

All we have to hope for now is ssf4 and blaze blue with just 2 fucking moar characters. I NEED A REFINED GAME THAT ISNT JUST FILLED WITH MOAR I NEED THIS!!!

That’s just fucking cold . I laughed then I sighed because this is truth. But to be fair, Sega never EVER made sense. They’re the professional trolls of the gaming industry.

No console release announcement yet…pathetic.

Weird how they felt the need to put hit-sparks into the trailer but not into the game itself.

 Man it just got announced for arcade of course there not going to say anything for console. Sucks but there probably won’t be anything 'till fall if it’s dropping on any of the systems.

If there really are phasing out juggles in favor of ground stuns that behave the same way, the game will look really cool in motion. Should have a nice flow to it.

Good to see that the “Virtua” part of the title still means something to them…

Rather than begging them to release it (which does not seem to work) would perhaps telling them you won’t be buying anything put out by Sega until they do release it be more effective ?

This is the reason we didn’t get R.

Expect a console release last quarter '10 or early '11.

That would be lying though…with Sonic 4 and all…

I was under the impression that the reason we didn’t get R is the same reason R’s arcade release was so fucked: Sega is completely out of touch with reality.

I already do that. If VF5FS gets announced, I will buy Bayonetta.

Man I hope this game comes to console this year.

Waiting for VF5FS…

? R has remained a top 10 staple in the remaining arcades that have fighters.

There’s probably a slew of reasons we didn’t get R. My thoughts would be:
-5 vanilla didn’t sell well.
-The additional content would be lost on the general consumer to warrant another purchase.
-It came out relatively soon after 5 did, also limiting how many would consider another purchase.
-They took a couple risky system changes with R and probably wanted to see how they panned out before acting on a console release.
-SEGA doesn’t care about foreigners ???

Anyway, I can’t wait for more info on it even if it’s just arcade info. Praying for console info eventually but we won’t be seeing it before we learn a hearty amount about the arcade version.

KrsJin: All of that logic is indeed understandable, but not really what was truly objectionable about how VF5R was handled (at least not to me). What was really a slap in the face with R is that Sega became so enraptured with the idea of grabbing arcade operators by the balls with their cabinet-lease gimmick that they completely excluded the foreign market who could otherwise have obtained the game for the limited scenes that existed for it by shelling out for a cabinet import.

It makes so little sense, given that such a model of foreign distribution (“let those poor pitiful few gaijin who play our game shell out for a cabinet”) would require basically no additional production investment on the part of Sega. You already made the unit and money reached your hands for the purchase; it wouldn’t be necessary or possible to hook it up to VF.net, anything that happens to the unit from there on out is pretty much irrelevant. The worst you could say for letting your baby go like that without the link to the mothership would be that the firmware gets cracked, which, let’s face it, is an occupational hazard even with a tight-fisted grip on your property.

I just don’t understand why a company would go so far out of their way to keep a stranglehold on their property at the expense of profitability (AFAIK there’s no evidence that Sega made any significant cash off of this gimmick) when the alternative described above would require so little effort and yield such better goodwill from their consumers.

But what’s done is done. Hopefully Sega has decided to try a much more progressive tack with VF5FS, and we filthy foreigners will once again be able to hear Jacky’s triumphant “YEEEEEEEEAH!” resounding across arcade aisles (or perhaps just over somebody’s tinny TV speakers in a packed apartment).
