Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown console thread

It runs on a board called Ring Edge, you are probably thinking VF5 Vanilla to VF5R.

EDIT: Unless you know this from personal experience?

Some tips on how to use training mode in a way to learn how to play the game?

Use the reaction and details options to test offense (aka how to fuck up scrubs mashing 2P and wakeup attacks) and defensive OSs. Guard and counterattack 5 is essentially made for the latter, so go get those crouch dash fuzzy guards down pat.

Is there any form of advanced movement similar to tekken’s back dash and sidestep cancel?

I have found that db,db+g multiple times will create some space quickly and relatively safely.

If anyone got any links they can share that would be appreciated.

I remember having this difficulty when I played Blazblue. Here, this should help.

789
456
123

This is how the numbers are referred to. 5 is neutral, 6 is forward, 4, is back. etc. So, a QCF input would be written as 236.

Right now, I’m still liking just Eileen and El Blaze. Some of the other characters are cool, but I’ve finally realized what it is about why I’m so picky with my characters. A lot of the VF cast “feels” rigid to me. This is a good thing for some, but it’s not for someone like me who likes a fighter that’s light on their feet and unpredictable. For example, I find Akira cool and all, but there’s something about him that doesn’t make me feel “free”. At least he’s not Lei Fei who, for me, is a boring ass tightwad. He may be more boring to me than Ryu.

hey there! I would recommend using 448 or 442 which is a backdash then cancelled into an evade. it can sometimes get you out of trouble vs linear attacks but only at a small disadvantage. You can also cancel evades by forward dashing or forward crouch dashing and those dashes can be cancelled by tapping G. so either 866g or 833g and once you hit G you can also repeat it. ie 866g866g or 833g833g. Hope this helps!

2 can also be used instead of 8 but for me its easier to tap up first if the next input is going to be a crouch dash. naturally I do use 2 though if the opponent is trying to capitalize on my evade direction.

L_A_Akira? I saw your vids with Ultrachen. VERY useful and complete! Please do some more!

Hey there, thanks a lot! I would like to do some more but it’s up to James and David. If there are enough requests for it, I’m sure they will make it happen.

Just discovered that you can dash into a grab if your wake-up attack hits. YES. Anyway, to those of you that are discussing the visuals:

Due to size restrictions on XBox Live Arcade games, both home versions of *Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown *use lower-quality texture and sound files.

Source? Not that I doubt it, I just want to see the article.

As I’ve said, thanks to Microsoft for fucking everyone up

I spent a lot of time in customization mode making different characters. I made:
[]SSJ Goku (Jean)
[
]Akuma (Akira)
[]Robert Garcia (Brad)
[
]Samurai Champloo’s Mugen (Brad)
[]Kazuya (Jacky)
[
]Road Warrior Hawk (Wolf)
And I attempted to make Ronald McDonald (Shun), but sadly there weren’t enough options to pull it off entirely.

Thank you tons, this is exactly the type of info I am looking for.

Keep up the good work and if there are any other advanced topics similar to this please feel free to share when you have time.

The window to tech throws is 10f before it executes and 10f after.

Almost all throws (high & low) execute at 10f.

That is not guaranteed. Your opponent is most likely freezing up after getting hit.

Rising attacks are +3 on hit, +6 on counter.

Wakeup attacks are -15 on block correct?

Only if they did a back roll before the rising attack. All other times they are -6 on block.

In earlier games they were also -15 if you delayed the rising attack. You can’t delay rising attacks in FS.

Oh so then the vf.com system guide is not fully accurate for this version?

The guide says there are only two wakeup attacks, delayed or back roll.

Er… how many weight classes are there again?

The combos I can do seem to be able to do differ between Kage, Eileen, Wolf and Taka x_x

today I gave a try to Akira and I expected to find a simple and complete character… like SF Ryu, instead he seems one of the most difficult characters to play…
