Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown console thread

And yea, alot of mashers online. I played this dude that literally did nothing but Vanessa’s K,K string lmfao.

You gotta work the knockdown yo, WORK THE KNOCKDOWN.

A few people do that herpy derpy shit to me online but Taka destroooooys mashers way too hard.

Just “Bought” (As in got it for free -not including the dlc bundle for £20- on Playstation Plus! Dayum Straight~!), and to be honest, it feels like they’ve deducted more than they added (Only two new modes, two new characters, stages, balancing, etc, but downgraded costumes to disc locked content -Sega, money grubbing whores!, £9.99 for each character pack, reduced to £4.99 each if you buy it along with the game-, got rid of career mode entirely, customizable profiles, and mind you, they could have added a story mode as well like Skullgirls did). Pretty easy on your wallet though, especially if you got it for free on ps3, and is one of the more balanced fighters with planning sidesteps, blocking and attacks accordingly in a match.

I’ve been steam rolling ranked but I find it hilarious that my most complex matches are against noobs  I LOVE fighting good players, it’s music

STAY AWAY FROM NOOBS

trust me, just go to custom search and find the higher ranked people to fight against, it could turn degenerative for you if you keep fighting spammers

they did this with tekken 6 aswell, allowing people to play retarded

That’s what I like about Virtua Fighter, it focuses on hand to hand combat and technicalities more than projectiles and super moves, making it more fairer for most players and moreso avoiding mashers. (I’m looking at you, Super Street Fighter IV, yeah, I love you forever, but all those hadouken spammers, and the shoryuken spammers as well are touching my Ranked Matches in a bad place, especially when I’m using Ibuki or Dudley. Even Fei-Long is becoming a cheap ass character to fight online!)

Saw a glitch in player match, loser didn’t fall to the bottom of the list, so he got to rematch. Only saw it happen once, nothing special about the preceding match.

Edit: Other than it was a mirror of two kage’s

This must be like the only fighting game I remember playing where it feels like I’m actually fighting a human when I fight the AI on the hardest difficulty…

While there might be an exploit somewhere I’m not using, I feel like I actually learned things while playing the AI (in particular, how godlike Akira’s 214P is… as long as it isn’t sidestepped or whiffed).

If anything, this game’s AI doesn’t feel fray like every other fighting game’s (Tekken included).

Let me be the first to express a few dissapointments towards this game.

-No introduction movie, no demoes, no attract mode, nothing.
-No customisizable introes for the characters!!! WHY SEGA, WHY?
-No profile card with stats, icon, comment, etc.
-Player Room 30 second unskippable waiting time before matches is annoying.
-STILL no “1 hit guard” option in training mode to test natural comboes and such.
-Points based customization is still dumb.
-Goh is still ugly.

Other than that, game’s godlike, practice mode framedata display is awesome, online works great, Sega focused everything on just playability and I like that. Very good value for money, 25 euros is a steal.

It was discussed earlier, but when the combo counter changes green, this means that it can be teched?

Unless the explanation has changed since then; I’m not sure.

Yup, green on the combo counter means that you can tech. By definition it will only show up during juggles, because the only other escapable “stun” is staggers and depending on the move most have guaranteed followups.

Don’t get this confused with the other info from the frame advantage portion of the advanced info viewer.

Well, game is purchased but I gotta wait for my monthly CANADIAN bandwidth to reset and for exams to finish before I can play this game.

You people in the states have it much better when it comes to current video games, honestly.

Yeah, I’m quickly learning that ranked is mostly button mashers. Player/Room matches are almost always better, the spectator mode rules.

This is so true man. You won’t learn much by playing button mashers (I don’t even feel they deserve to be called scrubs). I won 4 matches in ranked today by just using 2P. Thats it. They just kept trying to hit buttons, and never guarded low once. Not. Even. Once. It blew my mind. I can just see the poor kid now…

“WHY ISN’T COOL STUFF HAPPENING LIKE IN MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3! MOM THIS GAME SUCKS!”

Aren’t most 2P’s special lows that can be blocked mid or low?

so i’ve been a (very) casual vf player in the past…
trying to take it a little more seriously, now.

the notation is like a foreign language to me. its difficult to comprehend what i’m reading when i look through lists of bnb’s for certain characters.

especially when ppl post shit from japan. they have katakana or whatever mixed in with the already “foreign” notation.

lol makes me miss tekken.

Keep in mind that in training mode the combo counter resets whenever someone can block or if a string isn’t NC. Stuns and other stuff you’ll just have to know. Like moves that give +frames you’d have to know the frames of your moves to see which ones give guaranteed followups or if you simply get a mixup. And of course, once in the air or in actual juggles it’ll turn green to let you know they can recover.

Haha dude I know it. Even if you gotta dumb down your game, it’s worse on them because his scrubkilling shit is launchers or moves that do a chunk of dmg or give +frames. And he just hurts too bad for fools to try to herp derp him. I love this guy.

That being said, I do player matches because then I can at least do mixups, setups, and put people in various situations. Online ranked mash warriors don’t respect shit, even when they’re getting smashed.

Exactly. Ranked is pretty pathetic right now. I don’t see how you can endure it for long honestly.

Haha yea it’s way too easy if you just anticipate and punish. So much so, that it isn’t fun. So I’m sticking to player matches whenever certain people are on.

Yes. Also gives frame advantage on hit too I believe, or maybe that’s a similar special low.

Like if you set your config to 3 buttons only

Why players in ranked can’t TR
I mean it’s fine up to the 1-2 dan rank, but a HUNTER rank player???

But it’s worth to go through all the button mashers to find a realy good player
So Potemkin15 or something like that who uses Jean if you’re on this board i hope i run into you again

Played a Taka player yesterday for five matches straight and all he did was spam the punch string, some people on ranked have some knowledge of the game or went to practice in the tutorial others don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Thats fine cause they’re contributing to be fast point acquisition.

On another note I played against a 9th Dan player who could even do a simple Wolf combo or grapple it was pretty pathetic if you ask me.
