Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown console thread

Don’t worry, learning to deal with mashers is a hurdle with VF5FR. You just can’t respect them, and in so doing, have to play retarded, but it works.

Yeah, they’re helping my defense and making me maximize my damage on every launch.

I haven’t even touched ranked yet. Just been playing player matches. So far all my loses have been to people who understand the game better than I do. Only ran into two mashers so far.

I guess I am an old school VF player i guess.VF2 but I didnt know what the hell I was doing then. I cheated on it with Tekken though lol.

But my somewhat hardcore Tekken skills helping out in this game.

Man, I fucking love this game. I wish I would’ve signed up for the EVO tourney.
It’s the only game I’ve played where a 60% damage grab doesn’t feel broken.

Hey guys how many raw somersaults have you took the face? lol

lol at Jean’s tantrum when he loses. I let the countdown go to zero before I resume just to see him go apeshit.

anyway I ran through the command list of every character. I liked pretty much all of them except for the big ass dudes like Taka, Jeff and Wolf, but I never liked that weight class when it came to fighting games (I’ve had SSF4 for a couple years and I don’t think I have all the colors for Honda! haha).

I actually like a few characters I didn’t expect to, like Aoi, Blaze and Vanessa. Plus thanks to customs Jean doesn’t look like Dante in Ken’s gi and Lion’s face isn’t as annoying. Can’t fix his voice though. How sick would it be if the robo-Mantis head just made him talk like a robot.

I’m gonna grind more with Lei but I’m gonna explore my interest in those characters also.

I have giving alot of those to the face. Well seriously.

I was getting worked in player matches, like running into dudes that knew the game, and I constantly rematched them since it’s the only way to be better, so the majority of my time was spent getting my ass kicked.

So I go into ranked and win 10 straight making it to 8th kyu fast facing nothing but mashers, where all I did was block launch max combo i know… repeat.

Makes me want to stick to player matchers.

I hate what they did to Vanessa shit is Terrible.

I like letting gf202020 do w/e string he likes spamming then punish it then let him mash somersault like he’s a flowchart ken then launch him for 45%

Alot of people playing aren’t even use to 3-D fighters so it is good people are checking it out.
I am no expert but knowing a the in out of 3-D fighers helps tremendously as expected.

Whiff punishing, spacing and such.

Is there a hub for VF, similar to 8WR or TYM?

Lol at online ranked. You have to play a shitty way to beat mashing scrubs. Thank God for room matches and my guys who actually know how to play. Shit is like night and day. And I’ve definitely missed this series alot since 4Evo.

I think alot of people’s bad experiences with the game come from playing idiots online and not knowing how to get away from the mash-out strings and random 2P, or knowing what to punish and what’s generally safe or frame advantage.

The quicker the randoms sit down and actually learn or play with a brain, the better it’ll be for everyone. Until then, guys might have to just play certain people.

Thank god the training mode is so good man. I’ve gotten a quicker grasp of how Virtua Fighter works in 1 day than 6 months with AE.

Yea haha. Shit is very in depth. I was in awe from VF4’s too. That being said, you still have to be able to execute and recall in real matches. The state of online right now with the majority of players isn’t good for that. You have to dumb down the foundation you’re trying to build just to win matches, and hopefully you don’t develop bad habits. I’m glad I already was somewhat competent in the game beforehand, or else I’d be feeling like some other people feel.

Nessa has this fancy perm hairstyle but all her outfits scream trashy hoe or butch dyke so there is no use for it.

I’m having issues adjusting to this game, I guess im a bit new to 3d fighters in general but I think vf somehow feels harder than tekken 6 and scv.

I can see this game being fun if I ever get a hang of it. At least I can scrub out big damage with taka for now.

Played several international matches online (because there werent many Aussie on) and while there was still noticeable lag, its not a slideshow like most other fighters are. The few same area matches I played were very smooth.
