Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown console thread

HEY WAIT – VF characters aren’t strong or distinct! They all have the same moves and they are all takes on tropes from 1992! You’re a lying liar and character diversity cannot be reconciled with balance at all, ever! Seff Killian said so!!

YES.
Learning only 1 character, especially early on, is nigh-on ESSENTIAL if you want to get competitive at VF.
But learn whichever character appeals to you.
In between games, notations generally stay similar but the speed & animations will be very different.
Also, you’ll really want to look at the system changes, stuff like 0f-throws & Throw Clash mechanics are gone in FS; and the combo system is revamped (don’t worry about it for now though).

Stream from STA is live. Go watch!

Get in on that right now! It’s really amazing gameplay going down at Southtown Arcade in San Francisco!

According to the stream they are basing the netcode off Daytona USA port on 360/PS3. A quick google search gave mixed reviews about DUSA. One blog site said that the netcode in DUSA is based off VF5 on 360. Right now this is all speculation but I hope they know what they are doing.

Best info was hearing all costumes/items in the arcade will be available for the console port. They didn’t specify if it would be DLC or not but it’s a day one buy for me regardless.

i’m honestly surprised they can fit that much into a dlc title without it simply being unavailable on 360

Anybody know why Version B was released on PS3 instead of C? (Regular VF5, that is)

Because Sega is fucking stupid that they made the PS3 version so that they can’t upgrade it. IIRC Ver. C was the latest arcade version when they released the PS3 version, so it doesn’t even make any sense why would the make the PS3 version Ver. B. There was no initial Xbox version of VF5, mind you, it came later, and then they decided to make that one Ver. C with netplay.

So again, Sega is so fucking stupid. Oh well, still high hopes for FS.

Sega rushed the PS3 port due to pressure from Sony I believe. The Xbox version came out 8 months later.

That’s really… Shitty.
I was told by somebody at Gamestop (He’s a FG player that’s part of my local scene) to not waste my cash on the PS3 version when I was first going to get it last January. I know why now.

Unfortunatley for me though, right now my only stick for PS2 is a Mayflash… and GUESS WHAT!? It registers as analog and doesn’t work with Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, so I have no VF until the summer. that pisses me off because it’s the only 3D fighting game that I really like.

I think you should get it for now. It’s only 5 bucks

As I haven’t kept up on price, you’re probably right…

VF5 vanilla got a version D but it was just an item pack for arcade only. That’s our Sega.

In less than 12 hours, VF5FS Final Battle Audition event will be streamed on not just one channel but four channels (nicely organized to display all 4 streams on http://www.aou2012-sega.com/). For more information and a countdown timer, please check VFDC.

Also likely to be streaming this weekend is 3on3 Railway Series Tournament.

The thing posted above is starting!

Because I can.

That’s pretty baller

Thank you. When my internet is having a good day, I can pull two different streams off.

You don’t need to watch KOF13 match streams that game is too simple. Heheh I’m kidding.

hahaha Of course. Real men play '98 or 2002.
