from what i see in the video, it looks like open and shut self defense, perhaps give him a manslaughter charge at most for knowlingly inciting highly aggravateable people and then shooting one… but yeah, he warned them, he held out the gun for everyone to see. he stated that he was in fear for his life… just cause hes in fear for his life/health doent mean that he has to back away… why should he when hes obviously in the right (the neighbors shit was LOUD)

I highly disagree with the Young Turks.
They don’t mention that the firefighter dude sounds like an elderly man. He was recording the video over 200 feet from the property. He was only recording the video to prove how loud the music was at the time that he called the dispatch to complain. The only obvious thing is that the intention of the video was to show evidence against the loud noise so the dude could justify calling the police. He’d know as a firefighter that you can’t just complain to the cops- some of those in the department could even be his friends! The turks also point out that the LOUD NOISE DUDES drove TO the old guy with the camera. Someone probably spotted him with his camera down the rode so they drove to him from the party to see why some guy was filming their house.
Then the situation is a truck full of fit young men approaching a lone older man. After the old man tells them he isnt going to talk to them (hes waiting for the cops?) they’re out of the car and walking towards him. After the firefigher indicated he wasn’t going to talk directly to them there was no reason for the dudes to get out of the car towards him and they were still telling him to “get down” in an aggressive manner. Only then when they started coming towards him- how close were they going to get? did he show the gun. When they showed that they were willing to get physical he showed that he wasn’t gonna get physical- hed get shooting. Even the dude who put his arms up to the gun continued to walk towards him around the 2:50 mark- being held back by one of the other dudes. Not sure what that first bang was at 2:55, but there is one clear thing:
Right before the gun goes off you can clearly hear someone charging toward the camera laughing maniacally- in that instant you can totally see where there can be a preceived threat. There were what 5 guys there? And one of him? I don’t get why the Turks keep repeating that he’s “obviously not in danger”.
As far as the video and shooting the guy that charged him- yeah the firefighters in the fight. But it’s impossible to tell if he was right to shoot the other 2 after the video- did they also charge him? Try to gang up for revenge?

Cops ALWAYS ask you “Did you try going over there to ask him to turn it down?”. This is why you never should. They get belligerent, want to fight, and if possible, try to play their shitty music louder, and at all times of night just because they know it annoys you and you had the nerve to tell them their behavior is is inappropriate. Poorly-raised idiots these days don’t seem to understand that it’s okay to play your music so that everyone in your house can hear it…but when people 4 houses away watching tv in the part of the house farthest away from the offender can not only make out the lyrics, but have their window panes vibrating in time to the bass, that shit’s too loud. The key is to bother the police until they bother the offender. You aren’t the only person in your area who can’t stand that shit. Doesn’t mean you also have to take it like a little bitch. Bother the police until they bother the idiot. It helps if the police have a history of complaints you’ve made against that person. You have a right to live in a peaceful, quiet surrounding (outside of the hood. Cops don’t care there). It may not fit with a “REAL nigga” way of handling things, but it’s really the best way. Don’t go over and try to start shit cuz it will just get worse, and you might get shot.

They do shit…you just have to keep bugging them until they remember their job is to maintain the peace, and part of that is enforcing noise ordinances. Make sure the operator can hear the music when you call, and tell them how far away you are from it.
Not for nothing but wouldn’t pulling out a gun make the situation worse than making it better? I’ve seen situations like this happen with neighbors butting heads over loud noises and it usually turns into nothing but a yelling match and till the police come. If you’re gonna shoot a gun at least do a warning shot showing that you mean business. You don’t kill a guy.
Warning shot? You mean like shooting up in the air, cowboy style? Those bullets eventually come down you know and you are liable if it hits someone.
Same with shooting into the ground, you risk a ricochet especially if you’re on asphalt.
Call me a pussy, but I would have beat a hasty retreat back to my house if a truckload of douche bags rolled up on me, It doesn’t matter if I was armed or not. Of course I would keep recording the events until the cops showed, but pulling a gun should be the absolute last resort.

If he wanted to prove the music was loud, he would have recorded from inside his home. He needs to prove it was loud at his home, not near their driveway.
