Video Games You Loved As A Child But Hate As An Adult

Batman Forever on the Genesis. Although the fact that you can cancel special moves into other specials entertains me.
Batarang >roll=ultimate rushdown.

Yup.

The last great JRPGs were DQ8 and Persona 4.

RoF is good, if you can dig the aesthetic, but that is about it this gen.

The only good RPGs out of Japan this gen were ARPGs such as DeS and DaS.

As for games that I loved as a kid, but cannot stand as an adult…

None.

I have taste. :coffee:

But to be fair, I do not think that I could be arsed to play through NES Rygar again, for anything less that four figures.

And I beat that shite as a kid, too (Heal Power + Speed Up vs the last boss, ftw).

Maximum Carnage / Separation Anxiety

I actually thought DQ8 was really slow-paced and boring. Dragon Warrior Monsters is the best “DQ” game I’ve ever played. It was on Gameboy Color and it made Pokemon look like shit in comparison. It had a lot of depth and randomly generated dungeons…it was crack to me as a kid. I bought RoF for 7$ not that long ago but I haven’t gotten around to it yet, I have no idea when I’ll bother to start a playthrough of that game.

Have you ever played GoldenEye: Source? I’m wondering if there’s anybody who thinks that the original GE aged poorly yet like GE Source.

DQ8 built up slowly.

After you got all four characters, and the cat, it picked up.

Also, I loved how practically every battle could be a serious encounter.

I platted DaS, a couple of months back, btw.

Smash bros

Sonic Choas for the SMS/GG.

The stages are too damn small and if you are playing as Sonic it’s almost impossible NOT to go to the special stages because there are so many rings. The bosses are too easy, the game period is too easy. I don’t know what I ever saw in it.

This mother fucker right here, oh god

WCW/NWO Thunder

Tom and Jerry (SNES) and Battle Toads in Battlemaniacs (SNES). I love both the games still but just hate it since now that I’m older, I realized how fucking hard they actually were. Are we like… brain dead as kids thinking these games were easy?!

dont know why, but I dont think i’ll ever beat this or play this again

t&c surf designs. absolutely ZERO patience for the game now.

The surfing part of that game confuses the shit out of me. I used to be able to do it forever, and I’ve completely forgotten how any of it works.

i cant think of a single game that i actively wanted to play that i dont enjoy anymore

Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest, mainly because of the game design. How am I supposed to know that I have to crouch in front of a random wall to make a tornado appear? That doesn’t even make sense.

dragon quest 8 is great anyone doesnt like it shouldnt even play video games anymore. You forgot Xenoblade. FF series is dead and people should just stop playing them

as a kid that game was 0_0,I stayed up all night playing it when I 1st bought it…then a few yrs back i played it like WTF?!That game felt real loose and all over the place.

Up + circle was broken in that game. Drains all life very very quickly.

After I got all the emeralds in Sonic 2 for all 3 characters, I have a hard time playing that game again. Those special stages are frustrating and I hate to playthrough without getting all the emeralds.
