Video Game Music Thread Ver. Once More With FEELING!

OCR doing remixes of OCReMixers songs have been happening more and more as people from that community land jobs in the gaming industry.

Yeah, I know, it was just odd seeing it on an actual OCR album. And outside of OCR, there’s remixes on songs that people who are/were from there did. I mean hell, I swear there’s a crazy amount of remixes on stuff the Aversa’s (zircon + pixietricks) did.

I actually got to see him live.
One of the best nights of my life.

Yo! You were at Magfest this year? I posted about my first time experience in this thread a few posts up.

Yeah, but I spent most of the time in the game room shamefully. I did see Powerglove live and did the Russian Dance when they played Tetris.
I wanted that colossus hoodie so badly…

god damn man…Powerglove did a number on my ears but they were fucking amazing. When I wasn’t in concerts or panels I was in the game room mostly playing AE. Was this your first time?

It was, and it was AMAZING. Good lord Saturday night was like… As soon as I heard Streets of Rage, I went on the floor, found this girl, and danced with her till he went offstage. Frickin’ magical. If I go next year I’ma try to do more musical things. Also I got a CD by Blind (or however you caps/lowercase his name, can’t remember right now) and he’s one of my favorite remixers, so that was nice. On;y thing I’m pissed at was missing my chance to get some Powerglove swag.
Geez, I’m rambling. I should do a write-up.

Dude yes…do a write up for the people who haven’t been. When I was at DJ Cutman’s booth to get some of his CD’s I saw bLiNd’s stuff there too and I talked a bit about how I liked some of his stuff to Cutman and the dude was chillin right to my left. He fist bumped me lol.

Guys Magfest is fucking awesome and again my only regret was that I came completely unprepared financially for the event. I’ve been having serious withdrawals about that weekend…WOOOOOOAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!!

Didn’t bother reading the thread but I’m sure nobody posted this and for that you should all be ashamed

I’ll try to get on it tomorrow, right now I am wiped.
And since this is a music thread…

Always felt like Twilight Princess’s music was under-appreciated compared to the other Zelda games. Maybe that’s just me though.

If I remember correctly the Triforce quartet at magfest actually played some of Twilight Princess in their Zelda set

I’m sure we can all agree that Capcom and Konami came the hardest when it comes to NES music. But I want you all to take a listen to this. I don’t think the any other musician pushed the NES’s chip generated music harder than Tim Follin. I’m sure this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I want you to sit, close your eye’s and really listen to the complexity of what this guy was able to create.

While I really enjoy the newer music that is out now, I still enjoy rocking 8 and 16 bit tunes the most.

That’s awesome.

Tim Follins is one of my favorite composers actually.
Have you heard his Spider-man and the X-men in Arcades Revenge work?

Hellz yeah I have. I’d have to say that Gambit’s stage is by far my favorite.

That’s my second favorite one, my first being Spiderman’s stage.
Absolutely love that nod to the old Spiderman show he snuck in there.

SRK ate my link, Here’s Yoshi’s Island (70ish MB)

I’ve been running into OSV of old rpgs and just running them through the background as I read the net; currently, I’m on Chrono Trigger.

personally I like the Orchestral version of some old (pre-PS1) games, :shake: alas I’ve only found a handful.

I actually didn’t have Yoshi’s Island in my Mario folder. I’ll have to shift through it and decide what to put on my store’s playlist.

Sonic & Knuckles ‘Airborne’ by Devastus

Source is ‘Flying Battery Zone Act 1’. I find it interesting that nobody on OC has touched Act 2 of this source. I know they’re similar in plenty of ways but they have a nice amount of differences in terms of sound…could just pull a Housethegrate. Anyway, this is another nice rocking ReMix of this tune. Source is easily familiar and I like the way how the track started out. I definitely dig the small swtich up at 2:18 as well. It’s probably going to awhile before something tops Snappleman’s version of this theme for me though…I think it could be the bass line in combination with everything.
