Can confirm the first, never found the second game but that first game was the only one that even come close to nailing the loop of story, combat and side scrolling down. I have seen games attempt to match it since, and the original is not a perfect game by any means, but they all falter in some crippling way.
Indivisible actually comes the closest I can remember, but Skull Girls in terms of quality for the genre it is not.
I think VP2 is better then VP1. While 2s story relies on you having played 1, it’s paced better, the combats deeper with more options and more strategy, and cut scenes are skippable, the massive flaw VP1 has. Well that and VP1 hides it’s true route behind Guide Dangit levels of obscurity. Also gives you lots of data that seems useful but is mostly useless. Almost all the war tavle tavle data is useless to player but presented as extremely important.
Yeah, the music in the original 3 Gears games was a bit more dynamic and varied, imo… there’s admittedly less in Gears 5 but I love that main theme it keeps going to, which is normally identified as “Kait’s theme”… it pops up again in that one I posted. It is heard often as you find out more about her and certain things tied to the past. That one theme just really stands out in a good way to me…I think of it whenever thinking of this game.
From the rest of the series, my absolute top picks are “Return of the Omen” which is the main menu theme for part 2, and that “Insurmountable Odds”—these will forever be gaming music classics to me
^I’ve listened to this on a regular basis ever since the game was new…can’t get enough of that…there’s so many little elements in this that I love… it’s like a rolling crescendo of intensity that perfectly fits the series.
Return of the Omen is another one with that very slow, eerie tone to it that I love so much…like some dark, terrible secret has just been revealed for the audience… I’ve considered this to be like my personal theme music for quite a while now… there’s something so deliciously creepy here; I love it
I used to own Valkyrie Project 2 Silmaria(?) but I got casual filtered by a giant Crab? Or a Squid? Something like that but either way, I remember enjoying what I could play but I just couldn’t get by that boss, will give em both a play though.
I vet I know exactly the boss you are talking about because I got stuck there my first time to
It’s really important in Silmaria to switch gear around so you can learn skills and attributes. You really need to play to enemies weaknesses and that boss is a perfect example of that.
Gears 2 was the pinnacle of the series for me. I don’t think I ever had as much fun in a Co-op campaign as playing Gears 2 with a buddy. But in general I have always liked Co-op campaigns even though few companies bother letting you play that way anymore.
I have no idea. I haven’t kept up with any GIJOE- stuff but saw this on hisstank.com.
To be honest, I think this may just be a “simple” game intended to promote the new Classified toys.
Its been on an unofficial hiatus since 2013 with the last movie.
The last cartoon was in 2011. The toys disappeared from Walmart/Target shelves in 2014 (though there were some figures sold at TRU only, that ended when TRU died).
IDW continues to publish comics seemingly uninterrupted from what I hear.
A new 6 inch toyline is debuting this year and a Snake Eyes movie is supposed to open in October (though no news has surfaced about delays) Im guessing this game is supposed to give extra media exposure since its close to the movie launch.
He didn’t go after them; they responded to the review (one with some honest advice and another with a “fuck off”) and he tried to take what his dumb-ass mind thinks of as the high road.
But yeah, if this dude is trying to get back into the game of reviews, he’s not making an already spiky mountain easier to climb.
