Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

I agree. With that said I just did the fight in the Well again and that fight can totally piss off forever.

New respect for the SNES Port of Doom, considering the dude had to rewrite the engine from scratch in Assembly, had all he had was some paper, an Amiga and a hacked Star Fox Cart.

Still much better of a Port than the 32X and 3DO versions

Best combat of this Gen, hmmm… That’s a tough one.

I’m assuming fighting games are off the table.

Sekiro is definitely up there. DMCV was wild too.

… Kinda hard to beat those honestly.

I own the first one on Switch. Just need to set aside the time and finally start it. Need something new to start after finishing Last of Us anyway so…maybe that’ll work.

GoTsu came in today. I’m jumping on that right now.

Edit: YO THIS DUDE (mongol leader) IN THE OPENING IS A GANGSTA…LOL

Edit 2: You can die so fast in this game if you’re not careful. At least in the very beginning.

4k/60 ā€œperformance modeā€ probably means it’s 4k/60 with resolution dips to maintain 60. For a launch title.

I thought the exact same thing when Demon’s Souls was said to have a performance option. Why? I understand a few years down the line, but a performance mode for a LAUNCH title? Dafuq…

As I’ve said before, I’m betting $$$$$$ that there will be a PS5 Pro.

Yea the guy who likes to kick and jump around like a jack rabbit. Camera and lock on lose their GAT DAMNED MIND in there lol.

Also the Performance Mode is for.people who don’t mind a decent resolution hit for better performance. NIOH 2 has a performance mode and it’s plain as day the difference between the two. Some people just don’t give a shit and would rather the game look prettier and be harder to play for it lol.

I remember GoW had the same thing. I was fine with the resolution hit and played with better FPS. My TV upscales shit decently, and I hardly noticed a difference, if at all, when toggling between the two modes. I’d much rather have better performance.

It’s so incredibly obvious in Nioh 2. All the detail in the game washes out and becomes grainy but it locks into a solid stable 60fps so it’s well worth it.

I just unlocked dual wielding for Erik in DQXI and got to the town that basically has UFC fights. I feel that’s a good stopping point for the night. I’m at over 30 hours.

It’s kind of annoying though cause I seem to be super over leveled since everything runs from me. It’s weird too cause I feel I’m at a level I’m should be.

I haven’t actively done any grinding except for one spot where I tried to grind for Metal slimes but only ran into 2 of them after maybe 30 minutes? If even.

I know that’s a thing that happens with monsters in DQ games once you reach certain levels but it still makes me sad. All I want to do is murder them and ransack their corpses for gold and trinkets. They should know it isn’t personal.

Oh wait until you reach the second ā€œhalfā€ of the game, you’re quickly going to change your opinion on being overleveled

Oh I know. I don’t expect dragon quest to break its own tradition. I just got to the tuxedo mask UFC town and I’m level 30 almost across the board.

Hey can you spoiler tag that, thanks.

playing a lot more of Gears 5 lately… the music in this series, man… it’s always been on another level for me

In part 5 it takes on even more of a sinister, dark vibe on tracks like that…as you find out even more disturbing things about your enemies and how certain things are connected…it sounds like you’re in a horror/sci-fi film and something especially terrifying has been revealed.

One more point of disappointment though—I’ve noticed that ā€œCo-op vs. AIā€ apparently always puts you in control of hero characters…that is such a damn shame, considering how badly I and several others have wanted another ā€œReverse Hordeā€ mode to return, where we play as Locust/Swarm enemies (or Robots and Lambent creatures too)

Horde mode though— now I have Kait at level 10 or 11…got more skill cards so she’s even more OP. It’s funny they’ve never toned her or JD down after all this time (considering how often developers like to tone down things) Kait and JD on your team make the mode a cakewalk, really. Great thing is that since Paduk, Dom, Cole and UIR soldier are relatively new, I usually have free reign to pick Kait all day.

Find your take on the ost for 5 interesting since I only watched a walkthrough of the game. There wasn’t anything for 4 and 5 that stood out music wise for me personally in comparison to the original trilogy’s music. You’ve actually played through the game though so if you had to present 3 tracks from 5’s ost as that you thought were the best what would you put forth?

So I’ve been playing Indivisible on boner pass the past few days here and there, I’m about 6 hours in and already have like 7 characters!? I really wish the game would slow it’s roll a bit but then I’m not sure if I’m going to care since the writing is absolute arse and the VA is middling at best so I’m finding the story kinda hard to sit through, I’m not quite sure of the target demographic and all but jesus it really does make me cringe sometimes.

The platforming is simple enough so far but I’ve found that, while only happening 3 times, the FPS just drops to crawl and also sometimes Ajna just doesn’t seem like platforming anymore and loses all of her momentum. OH and also the axe climb just doesn’t connect sometimes either despite Ajna being all glowy and hit sparks appearing at the wall. Level design seems to loop to shortcuts/previous areas for whatever dungeon your in, which I like, but areas haven’t been too interesting yet and the puzzles are standard fair though there was one ā€œshoot arrow hereā€ bit that had me puzzled, because I didn’t realise I was supposed to use an arrow and legit thought I had missed something. I put that down to kinda bad sign posting though because it really didn’t seem like an arrow would’ve worked.

Combat seems fun enough? I dunno I have all these characters and I haven’t really played around with em all too much yet. I do really hate trying to attack just to whiff a block and then eat the damage anyway though oh and also having characters big enough to block others from site so you can’t see them being hit by ranged shit.

Gonna try and stick with it because I do want to like it but I dunno. Also Pirate Lady design is <3

tldr; Any games that are like Indivisible but… good?

Valkyrie Profile 1&2. They where the inspiration for Indivisible tho it doesn’t seem to live up to those standards sadly.
