Also, if people weren’t going to ever replay them the fucking remaster market wouldn’t even exist. The mere fact that it does tells you that people are not against replaying older cinematic games.
Yeh, I mean the PS4 is called the remaster/remake generation for PlayStation for a reason. Lol
I need to be better about taking about what I am playing. I am playing P5R, Nioh 2, Spiderman PS4 and working on more Platinum Medals in Bayo 2 but I never talk about it here, and i should.
Edit: I do wanna play the Uncharted games again but I’m waiting a bit longer, and there is other stuff I want to play first. My favorite cinematic series to replay because it’s cinematic are the LOK games. All of them (except Blood Omen 2 I haven’t played that in YEARS.)
Same. Admittedly I have been slacking on playing this last few weeks. I binged all 10 seasons of bobs burgers recently and have been in a huge funk so I haven’t had a chance or energy to play Xenoblade chronicles definitive (I hate playing hand held)
Once I finish XBC DE I’m either going back to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 or starting DQ XI
Because there’s never a guarantee we can GET the update. Until literally now, Golden was locked on the Vita and The Answer was PSP exclusive. It’s not like Pokemon where it’s generally safe to wait. Honestly, while the updates are great it’s not a death knell to skip Persona updates as honestly they run on a very dubious canonicity as it is as Atlus usually doesn’t hesitate to make some type of “sequel” before actually finishing the updates.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the story of Persona 5 and don’t mind going through it and was even considering going through it again. The issue is that the game does not let you skip NEARLY enough cutscenes and the like in a traditional sense. If you could skip cutscenes that you’ve seen before my game time would probably be cut in half.
And the other reason, is as I mentioned, because the game just got easier because of the gameplay updates. Even on Hard Mode it’s just simply not much of a struggle to get through the game. The funny thing is that they seem to acknowledge this by throwing in curveballs for the Palace Rulers by having them do completely different shit towards the end of their fights compared to the original Persona 5. Why they didn’t manage a rebalance for the rest of the game is beyond me and on top of that, some of those curveballs also ended up making fights easier. Kamoshida was easier, Madarame and Okumura I admit did fuck me up but that’s because their changes force you into a war of attrition and I often had to restart rather than me dying because I just got burned out on SP, Kaneshiro wasn’t that far off and Shido by FAR was easier because of his curveball.
I was expecting to have to take advantage of both the new stuff and my knowledge of the old game to push through. Instead it feels like I’m bullying the game half the time with shit like Showtimes.
I bought P5R hoping that the game would be tougher on average (making the actual gameplay cycles force your attention) and that the new content would be weaved into the game a bit more gracefully. Instead the new stuff is just jammed into random spots until the end and as I mentioned, it’s just easier.
I don’t want this all to come off as me saying P5R is shit or anything. The game is still fantastic for the most part. I certainly will give a far more indepth review when I actually finish it. But I just think a better job could’ve been done on Atlus’ part to make the experience of getting through the game smoother.
I believe TLOU2 bumps up the difficulty for New Game+. So normal is now closer to hard and hard is even more challenging.
No one replays or talks about most “AAA” titles shortly after their release because they aren’t that great. People forget about modern hits and a majority of them get sold back to GameStop because they’re coasters 99% of the time after that initial playthrough.
DMCV is a modern classic. It has a ton of replayability and is a game that stays with you even after you finish it, because it’s actually that good of a game. You’d hear about it all the time after release, you didn’t forget about that experience and it was something you’d want to go through multiple times. DOOM Eternal as well. These games will be remembered fondly and will be talked about for years to come. I can’t say the same about TLOU2. No one will be talking about it in a few weeks and it’ll stay that way until the inevitable 3rd game when they introduce a new robot tranny character.
Diablo II is a timeless classic and is so good that, games in the genre are still drawing inspiration from it years later, including Diablo 4. I can’t say the same about Diablo III and if it wasn’t for Million I’d forget it exists.
Shit Fighter V. As soon as the new one releases, 99% of the community will abandon the game just like they did with IV. Why? Because the game is shit. It isn’t a classic like other SF games. SFII, 3S, MvC2, etc. etc. still get talked about, played and hailed to this day as great games.
Yep, this should be obvious by my pick-up posts over the years.
Sarcasm if it wasn’t obvious.
Obv those releases are for people who missed out on the games the first time around.
Obv those remasters of yesteryears classics are better than todays “classics.”
Yea they are just directors cuts, it’s like with movies, if you’ve seen the movie then the directors cut is the same movie…with some extra shit. I Like replaying my games, so I haven’t minded 5R at all. Been a fun revisit. But that might just be me. I am also playing other stuff at the same time.
A straight up cut scene skip would be good and I’m not sure why they insist on this fast forward feature. It was cute in 4 cuz of the whole TV/VCR thing, but in 5 it’s just kinda like why?
I also agree on the difficulty.
The thing is every time Atlus does one of these directors cuts this how they do it. It’s always awkward so I kind of don’t get why people expect it not to be. I guess I understand hoping it won’t be but I expect it to be. The Answer isn’t even integrated into the game it’s a separate start menu option lol. P4 jammed it’s new content in awkwardly…literally jams Marie into your Velvet Room Limo! Like bitch leave, you suck lol. So 5s pacing with the new content was totally expected by me, I’m not surprised by it at all. Bit saaying you where just that I got what I expected.
This is legit one of the silliest hot takes I’ve ever read about what is classified as a classic or a good game or not. Ffs. Lol
I and everyone else will continue playing and replaying what we want to play. You do the same, okay? Good talk.
Speaking of which maybe I should try 7R again. What a great aaa title that is. It’s gunna be talked about for years to come due to how great and memorable it is.
Stuart you get back to me when you actually play some gaemz instead of talking about being too depressed to play ANY.
Srsly doe buy the recent Ys game…it will bring you joy. A kind of joy unique to golden era JRPG’s of yesteryear.
Naw. I don’t really give a shit what you think about the games I play or talk about cause we have vastly different tastes.
No thanks. Your constant dick sucking of the series never makes me want to touch it. I’d rather play an JRPG I know I’d enjoy.
Im down with the 12 to 15 hour games. Those are the only games I tend to finish anymore. If they’re longer than that I get bored of them.
Tagging @Volt after seeing the last posts in the previous thread
You’s a bitch bruh, I expected better of you
Gonna have to take screenshots because quoting stops working when threads close.
You expected better of me because we interact in a bunch of different threads and I don’t peace out like that.
I don’t deal with this kind of bullshit though. Y’all can keep your echo chamber.
Yes, I wanted to shit on Tlou2. It’s a controversial game, the story is super divisive and in my opinion, shit from a technical standpoint.
I never shut down discussion though. If anyone wants to talk about the good things in that game, I can even bring up some stuff too.
Same deal with SwSh.
But that post was dismissive as fuck and was the exact same bullshit @Stuart_Hayden accused me of doing.
No one called out @RadiantSilverGun3 on it tho. So y’all can keep your echo chamber. I don’t fuck with double standards.
All these people who “watched” play throughs thinking they have a clue and their opinion matters lol.
I don’t know what is worse - someone playing a 30 hour game they don’t like, or someone watching a 30 hour play through they don’t like. I think it’s the latter.
Diablo 3 season 20 ended, so I’m off that game for a while, at least until season 21 begins apparently next Friday, which is conveniently when I have a day off finally thanks to the Holiday! Hell yeah I’ll powerup another level 70 something immediately… most likely Necromancer or Demon Hunter; they have really good stuff going on with the latest patch and upcoming season.
…so on this short break I’ve been back into Streets of Rage 4; tried Arcade mode recently but didn’t get all the way. I’m still mostly playing with either Adam or Axel… occasionally Jax-I mean “Floyd”. I have all the original 3 unlocked now along with Max, though I haven’t played him yet… I’m really looking forward to unlocking Shiva though. That dude was one of the coolest bosses in gaming history.
Almost all of the discussion about the last of us 2 has been about it’s story and character. I don’t need to actually play the game to have an opinion for that portion of the game.
Take my post into context.
Dude was talking about how many buttons are being pushed.
you should stick around man. it’s the different perspectives that i find interesting around here. i for example love turn based games but i know there’s a dude that hates that shit here. try not to let it get you too heated there has to be a reason you liked visiting the thread right?
