Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

purbeats a frothing a foaming tlou2 stan. Even if you say people legit didnt like the game the dude says “they never played the game” or “they never intended to play the game” but then you tell him that they played it through and he says “nah, they watched spoilers and already formed a bad opinion”. lol shit is whack

edit - shit I said I didnt like tlou and that mofo assumed I never played it so my opinion didnt matter.

If you can have a logical discussion about the game I’m willing to have it. I have yet to hardly see anyone in there or here add any “real points and problems” with the game. Give it some substance and real thought and have a discussion. Give it more than “this is so stupid she did X LOL WHAT AN IDIOT!” which most people have been doing up until recently in there. Thankfully that discussion has started in there so it’s moved direction a bit.

I mean even Angry Joe’s argument was…

Summary

That you can’t kill Joel “like that” because he was the main character (which isn’t really true as Ellie is the main character) and that he was killed with a golf club by a new character early on in the story. “You just can’t do that” is literally his argument. And this was before he even saw her side of the story and as to why she killed him. That is the kind of “substance” that is basically all I have been hearing/reading about in the criticism.

Or things like “the lesbian stuff felt forced” and that is a reason someone doesn’t like it. Like WTF is that really what bothers you about the game In a ~30 hour game that is all you can think about and can’t get over?

@Hecatom are “all of these friends” and other people you read about who have bought the game and tried to return it also brand new to video games? You haven’t been able to return a video game that is open in over 25 years since Babbages changed their policy.

@drizzt360 go look at TLOU2 thread. Most people commenting on it haven’t played the game. Sure you can comment on the story just fine but you can’t say anything about the full game. You can also tell that pretty much everyone knows the spoilers before commenting due to all the “yep the leaks were right” comments in there.

As someone on a video game forum you can’t sit here and tell me that watching a game is the same as playing it. It’s simply not true and not as engaging and makes a huge difference on how you take in and experience the game.

Quoting this so people remember.

I do think playing the game is extremely important to forming a real opinion about the game. I can’t argue with that at all.

Also Joel and Ellie where Deuteragonists. They are both the main character.

Summary

When has killing a beloved main character in favor of a new character has ever worked out? Naughty Dog setup Abby for failure from the jump by having her kill off Joel so early in the story. I can see why most fans are to say fuck this character. Having to play her for half the game will feel like salt on the wound.

…since beating a dead horse is fun, it’s time to laugh at Fallout 76 once again with Skill Up’s latest vid

The more I’ve seen of this game…the more it looks like the absolute worst of the past few generations…and it’s funny that anyone was surprised. Even if you ignore Bethesda’s poor reputation already going into this; the first presentation I remember from E3 or one of those industry shows…any reasonable person would’ve immediately concluded this was trash just based on the previews.

…it’s amazing that anyone bought this shit. I actually know at least 3 people that have this game. One of the 3 is no surprise though, because that dude has always had horrible taste in most things.

edit—I’d actually expect a better, more solid gaming experience from a first-year design student…a person that hasn’t even produced a game before. Their first try at a “make a game” first semester project would be far beyond this unbelievably terrible shit Bethesda has passed off as a “game”.

I spent a year telling my boss not to buy this and all the reasons why.

He bought it two months ago. Guess what. He hates it. Now I just make fun of him for it lol.

Watching TLOU2’s playthrough stream(s) from InternetHistorian was the best decision I’ve ever made. Was actually a fun ride. Ending’s still wack tho

I could understand fans buying this at release, unaware of the future shitstorm that awaited them.

But at a certain point with all the fuck-ups, I lost all sympathy for the fans hanging on. Like, if you’re still supporting that shit at this stage and you’re mad, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I need to get back to Sakura Wars. I put it on the back burner to replay Spider-Man and really should go back to it. I’m not trying to forgot where I left off.

I been playing some of the Mummy demastered and this is great. Whoever idea was to make a metroidvania out of a run and gun I applaud whoever you are.

So I haven’t really posted about it because I don’t like using SRK as a place to complain about my life shit, but I hurt my left eye last week. It’s been a bit of a chore doing anything but one thing I have been able to do is play an hour or so of Videogames a day. I bought Indivisible last week as well for 15 bucks cuz it’s got something akin to a Valkyrie Profile combat system and I love that shit.

I can’t get past the very first fight because it’s so bright and colorful it wears me out before the fight is over lol. I had to go back to darker games like Nioh 2 lol.

I was hoping to get to talk about Indivisible since I want to talk about what I play more in Here but I just haven’t gotten to actually dig into it yet. Hoping for next week.

I started playing Panzer Dragoon Orta, cos it’s on boner pass, never played a Panzer Dragoon game for more then a few minutes before and I gotta say I’m really enjoying, hard as balls for me atm though so I’m only at stage 4, I killed a boss and then 5 dragons showed up and sent me packing.

Orta is so fucking beauriful. I treasure that game. The whole PD series is kind of breath taking imo.

Dude the game is so fucking pretty. How do power up drops work? Is certain enemies that drop them or killing certain groups? I know environmental items sometimes drop them but beyond that?

Did you try the remake btw?

For the most part its exp based. When you earn enough points by killing shit an enemy will drop a gene code. The form you are in when you pick it up will earn the level up.

Yes I have the remake on Switch. I really like it, especially after the big QOL patch that added a number of needed features.

PD1 is unlockable in PDO by the way. It’s in the Pandoras Box and is based on the PC Port.

Oh ok cool just need to git gud then, and I guess I’ll be going straight into PD1 port once I unlock it, had no idea PD1 even had a PC port.

Yea man it’s just a matter of practice and figuring out what wings to level up when as well as where you should be looking and when.

Also yea its a pretty decent PC port to. Does some thing better then it’s Saturn counterpart like transparancies. It does other stuff worse tho. It’s a good port tho, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the series.

Gonna be honest, do to it’s age, Uncharted 1 is gonna be a little rough. But the series is very enjoyable. I bought the collection before UC4 released. I played through all of them. I agree with the 2 is the best camp. 3 and 4 are still very good though. I also found Lost Legacy enjoyable. Although given this current ridiculous voice actor situation, Laura Bailey damn good work as Nadine is bad because isn’t black apparently
