Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

I immediately started cackling as I saw this tweet as I know how much it’d piss off @radiantsilvergun3

That dude is a bad ass. I watched a few videos he did of Jedi Fallen Order combos. Insane stuff.

Finished Blasphemous yesterday, gonna grab everything I can before I ascend my file and start NG+ for the DLC. I remember reading that the game suffered with really tight platforming and I’m not sure if it’s been patched but I honestly thought the platforming and control was near perfect for the type of game, think I only failed a wall cling that killed me like twice overall, compared to Indivisible where the axe hang/spear climb would just whiff sometimes.

Combat is simple but satisfying and parrying feels super impactful though I do wish there were more execution chances. Level design is great and it helps that you can put custom markers on the map, not that I did that I ended up losing track of where I was going because I kept opening up new areas and getting sidetracked but I found my way eventually.

The bosses are all super fun imo, all very unique with quirky mechanics to figure out. Esdras(?) took me a while, I kept trying to parry something I should’ve been jumping over and I was needlessly in harms way every successful parry. The Final boss was pretty easy but I thought it was still a worthy final challenge overall though it maybe could have done with another phase or maybe adding in Crisanta or something.

I can’t praise Blasphemous enough, does everything an open ended platformer needs to with a soulsy type approach. Tight old school platforming, vicious combat, a beautifully vulgar and oppressive world and a giant baby that tears your arms off.

cheh, so I was listening to an ARPG(+other gaming stuff) podcast recently and someone posed the fun question “which Diablo power would you pick to have in real life?”… it disappointed me that the hosts just kinda glossed over it like they barely gave it even 2 seconds of thought… sheeeeitttt, personally it would be a tough decision for me— all the characters have some form of “cheat death” passive ability so that’s easily a top-rank pick right there…you’d effectively be immortal unless someone/something made sure to kill you again before the cooldown reset on that ability…and usually by default the cooldown is only 1 minute on those, if I recall. Aside from that I’d likely go with the wizard’s teleportation, or Witch Doctor’s “Spirit Walk” ability… or keep a pet golem like the necromancer, since those last indefinitely…then there’s Wizard “Archon” form, where you become a being of pure, limitless magical energy. There’s a lot of cool supernatural powers in the world of Diablo; it would be tough to decide on just 1.

edit–and mirror images–I forgot the wizard has that ability too…in fact there’s a version of your teleport where you automatically create mirror images when re-appearing.

GEARS 5— the bonus exp weekend is actually still in effect, I think… I got in a lot of quality time on that over the weekend… Kait is level 17 now on both accounts, and I got other characters leveled up nicely as well.

From the comments, it’s possible they may censor something?

I think you should, maybe you’d come around to it, like I did with this Shinobi :+1: I’m loving the change of full Tate + charge attack, for the the finishing blow in this.

Just finished the freeway level. Might do some previous levels before calling it a night.

CB2077 weaponry looks sick. I love that they’re doing it Borderlands style when it comes to Legendary weapons, in that every one of them will have unique quirks or features.

Shinobi on PS2 is the bomb

Single segment WR run from 2008 (it’s a whole 2 mins shorter now), if you download the video there’s commentary by the runner on the 2nd audio track that’s real fun to listen. Just him constantly bitching about the game lmao.
