Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

How much grief did Hiruko give you? I found going after S-ranks after finishing the game on normal to be a lot of fun. So satisfying to land the 1 hit kill on bosses. Unlocking Moritsune will make it a bit easier- more damage, but faster Akujiki drain.

A LOT. Everytime I had a charged up sword, I would never reach him in time, or I didn’t time the last hit of talsmin to the last part of his attack. A lot of it was down to camera control, then it was actually hitting the talismans.

Started using more kunai on the larger crowds and made sure to rush him when he was about to use his teleporting attack. It was definitely required multi-tasking, between keeping track of Hiruoko, having enough talismans for a charged up sword, and timing of being able to land a hit with a charged up sword.

I didn’t’ know you could change magic until a couple hours ago. Gonna collect coins on the and unlock the more stages.

Oh yeah, lightning magic makes those sword charges so much easier. One Hiruko strategy that helped me a ton was to use lightning right when he’s starting the teleporting attack, killing minions during it, then hitting him when it ends. The limited vulnerability windows he has is the worst thing about that fight.

this week’s challenge rift was another easy one in Diablo 3 so I made sure to get on just to get that reward… still haven’t even gone to 70 on my Switch Demon Hunter … my XB1 Demon Hunter is ridiculous though; already hitting for trillions in damage criticals…and he’s still not fully geared up yet. haha he doesn’t even have top-rank emeralds equipped yet.

I haven’t thought about Lost Ark for a while… but checking around I see there’s quite a bit of new stuff including new character classes like THIS awesome shit

^apparently some still have hope this might come to North America?! Ehhh I’ll believe it when I see it…

This would’ve helped so much haha. I guess I didn’t read the manual thoroughly. I thought they were scrolls you had to come across :man_facepalming:

I’m on Nightshade right now. Read the manual for that one and they even give a flow charts. I’m liking this game so far, and I’m on the third stage.

The kick being given it’s own button for combo extenders and as AOE blasts when used in the sweep -> jump -> kick link are interesting touches. The spin attacks and the homing attack were other additions I liked. The demo mode when you let idle at the title screen is a pretty beast guide, too.

The tone is ummm…familiar, lol. This is Bayonetta pre-Bayo. The first stage was mindblowing. I looked up the trailers and the semi-truck level was another one. The tate finishers. Oh man. I dig it. I can see why people would be pissed about the tonal shifts and the gameplay additions, but I don’t think they are bad.

I just finished Yakuza 5.

This is going to be a long one.

Pros:

The graphics, gameplay, and menus all feel like a Yakuza 0 prototype.

The choice to have 5 protagonists and 5 towns was very ambitious.

Oddly enough, my favorite parts are Saejima’s hunting in the mountains, and Haruka’s rhythm gameplay and Haruka and Akiyama teaming up with his action stuff blending nicely with her section imo.

The brief relationship between Park and Haruka.

Akiyama being the defacto leader at the end and getting the respect of those 3 families was cool.

Also, Akiyama’s air combo! BALLING!

Snowmobile chase was fun.

Cons

Despite having 5 areas, I didnt feel like there differences were that different(barring Saejima mountain stuff)

The cutscenes are WAY TOO LONG!. I usually like story stuff, but my ps4 controller was disconnecting due to inactivity too many times. There is a lot padding. Shinada’s confrontation with Sawada and all their dream talk was repetitive. I almost fell asleep one day.

Storywise, I feel like there are a lot of setups, but little follow through for a satisfying conclusion. Kiryu finally has a ho, but this is kinda submerged due to the plot.
Majima has an ex wife! But he never mentions her AT ALL during the game. Granted hes barely in the game but still. Also, did anyone truly believe they would kill Majima? lol

Shinada is kinda blah. The setup of him being framed and banned is interesting. It was funny to see him writing adult features, but I didnt feel that much for him. The best thing about him was the loan shark buddy, Takasugi.
Gameplay wise, he can twirl a traffic cone like a color guard girl , but whhop de doo.
He has some of the least interesting heats in the game. Also, dude is broke.
This was the first time that I couldnt just get money for a basic taxi ride and had to go pawn free energy drinks to get money. IIRC this was the first time in the series that beating up random thugs didnt get me money.

The bosses feel kinda bland. esp Shinada. One guy has a pipe, now another guy has 2 pipes! The final battle with 4 bosses was a war of attrition. I got through Baba and Majima w/o much problem. But Kanai and Aizawa were tedious. I had enough life restoring drinks, but I only had a weapon in my inventory and Heat drinks for Kiryu.
Aizawa would have been too long. I usually like to fight bosses hand to hand, but he had too much life bars. I pulled out the wooden katana and used 10 heat drinks to reduce his life with heat attacks, because just plain physical strikes would have made me get sore lol.

Aizawa as the real final boss was lame. Dude dindt really command any repect and even Morinaga would have been better. Also, this trope of someone getting shot and coming back later is wearing thin. Also the fact that they always shoot them in the abdominal flank or leg is just lazy.
Also, in chapter 18 or 19- ā€œHey guys lets all 4 of us fight to the death to draw out an evil mastermind who may or not show his faceā€ YAY! lol

I like how Kiryu the beloved Tojo 4th chairman doesnt use a phone to call someone to get him at Tojo Headquarters. Nahh homies I ll just lose blood and walk topless in the snow. Y’all dont worry about me.lol

I can understand Haruka missing Kiryu and all but why announce his name all over Japan during the concert. I guess shes going to be broke and someone will go after her or Kiryu in Y6 lol.

Kiryu’s taxi missions were boring. The devil killer ones were ok, but the ones wth regular citizens are boring as fuck. From the guys who made Crazy Taxi, heres driving in a narrow lane with an invisible wall and we have to use turn signals and stop for red lights. LAME!

Overall: 7.5/10. (It would be 6.5 if not for the core gameplay)

It took 36 hours (with minimal substories)

I just realize that isn’t a top, its a bib ready to pop off.

Not really.

I am super picky when it comes to Juri cosplay. It’s difficult to cosplay Juri, her hair is tough to pull off.

She’s fit man. She actually have abs. A lot of cosplayers are just skinny girls.

We already know her name. It’s an old cosplay. But I haven’t really seen videos of this cosplay which look good!

Yeah but that would have ruined my joke man. I had the Jim Carrey gif ready and everything

How is the combat in FFVII Remake? Is it better than FFXV? I’m debating on whether I will pick it up from Best Buy for $30. Need a new game to get into as I draw near the end of Tsushima.

There was a demo of FF7 Remake at some point on the PS Store, may want to check that out first to give u a feel

I highly recommend it tho, the combat is like the perfect blend of real time action and RPG mechanics. Most ppl that may dislike the story and characters atleast seem to agree the combat is fantastic

In my opinion its league better. FFVII:R battle system is like a fighting game. The better you get at it the more rewarding it is. I was doing things in hard mode that I wouldn’t have though possible during my first run through the game.
