Automatically writing off games that actually care about their narrative makes as much sense to me as automatically writing off games with any amount of turn based combat.

Story driven games lose me when the actual gameplay isnāt engaging.
Last of us 1 being the first to come to mind and recent Shadow of the Tomb raider.

Iām not sure what point you were trying to make. Plenty of people donāt wanna sit through turn based stuff. Are they supposed to play it just because somebody swears its gonna be good?

My larger point is I just think itās silly to write off a lot of really good games just because they have whatever amount of focus on the story. Itās one thing to have a preference of genre. Not wanting to play games because theyāre turn based at least makes a little more sense to me.
I would argue the āadultā thing would be having the patience to absorb and consume a narrative, if anything.
Not if thatās not what heās looking for. The man just want to play a game with the limited time he has.

Last thing I wanna hear about in a game is w/e drama mofos are having in life. Gotta be in some really short bursts or I donāt care. Iām loading up games for gameplay. Iāll appreciate the story on the way there, but if i have an hour at the end of the day to play something, last thing I need is 30 minutes of voice acting that doesnāt involve me doing something.

Well, Iām not the one that brought up the āadultā pretense. I thought it was a pretty stupid stipulation to add to the conversation in the first place so, yeah, maybe you understand why now.
Dudes can play whatever games they want. I donāt like nor often have the time for RTS games, doesnt mean I havenāt had them surprise me from time to time. You canāt ever be surprised if you close the door on games before even trying them, is all Iām saying.
I feel like the solution is pretty simple here thoughā¦ Instead of not playing these types of games at all, how about I dunno, skipping the cutscenesā¦?
Trying to even think of the last game I played that had cutscenes actually longer than 2 minutes tops. Probably Metal Gear V to be honest.

Tried that with Last of Us and was bored to fucking tears.
Being story driven is fine, but donāt make me watch a movie. Keep the gameplay fun and engaging or itās wack.
