Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

Ghost of Tsushima? Game of the Year in my opinion.

I’ll have to wait for my new TV then.

Apparently my dad is gonna get a new TV and give me his old one. So I’ll be able to enjoy some visuals in a better way than before. Gonna be a hassle moving the PS4 between rooms but we’ll see.

Still gotta play Horizon Zero Dawn; hopefully there’s less story in GoT than there is in HZD.

Oh about making the Xbone presentation more on watching the NFL than I don’t know Video games?

I’m gonna keep it 100 with you. Ghost is a long game. I’m probably only half way through it myself. I have to have like 25-30 hours in. The game is like crack. The first time I played it, I put about an hour. I thought it was solid but didn’t see what the fuss was about. Next time I booted it up my whole day disappeared, game is like crack.

My brother told me that it’ll make me question how good God of War is. I’ll start playing it the week after next.

Ghost of Tsushima is legit!!
IT IS THE GAME OF THE YEAR!!!

Mhmmm…

If it’s any consolation; the story is good, as is the voice actors (English VA are really good), and the combat, which is crown jewel of the game, will keep you engaged!!

Well kinda glad that lady got told. Also immense Good Shit kudos to Sucker Punch on this game. I’m still playing through the game and my wife is farther ahead than me but yeah I think this game is a GotY contender thus far and unless the end shits the bed I don’t see that changing. I don’t think its gonna dethrone FF7R for me this year but I am enjoying my time with this game. Only gripe ai have with this game is I wish they had more standoff animations since they’re the same 3 and it can get kinda stale despite the fact that enjoy doing it. If they had more animations for people coming in at dif angles, it would go a long way to making it more dynamic. This is SP’s first try at doing a game like this though they get some slack on it but I’m gonna be expecting a lot whenever a sequel happens.

I don’t put Ghost of Tsushima above The Last of Us 2, but it’s awesome. Keep in mind I’m not a fan of open world games really, and a lot of the side missions in this game are the exact reason I am not a huge fan. They are just super repetitive and you are doing the same shit over and over just with different characters and locations. There are so many side missions that I’ve lost track of who is who when doing a lot of them, other than the ones where you have like 5-9 side missions all dealing with the same character. But even those feel repetitive.

The main game though if you follow that story doesn’t feel repetitive. There is definitely more variety in what you do going that route, which makes sense though.

I’m midway through act 2 and I don’t feel like the side missions have been a chore though. I’ve done them because I’ve wanted to go out of my way to do them and keep upgrading. I really like the way they did the upgrade trees in this game. I’m also a completionist generally speaking on games that I really enjoy, but I don’t know if I’ll do everything in this game. Like I probably still have fog of war on like 60% of the map.

And then you have the typical bugs, dumb ai, and the standard stuff that comes with any open world game. The camera in the game is terrible too when in battles where you are in somewhat close quarters.

But that all said, the game is awesome. And it’s hard to just play for like an hour as mentioned. I always play for like 2+ hours at a time. And the game makes you feel like such a badass no matter what you are doing.

I just prefer story driven linear games over these games. I would have preferred it was more polished and not open world and just story driven with even better graphics rather than the open world concept it went with. Right now it feels fresher than God of War to me probably since it’s new, but I don’t think I’d put it higher than God of War on my list either. But God of War has a lot of history too and I’m biased towards that series where as this is a completely new IP.

If you have a PS4 this is a must buy. But then again so is TLOU2 imo but we won’t get back into that lol.

anyone here play P5 royal? Does it add that much?

Playing P5 now and I’m really enjoying it. Just tryna figure out if I’ll have to get Royal when I’m done

Yeah I did the whole spiel earlier.

Uh, if you want to get Royal you’re more than entitled to so directly after P5 but it’s not a necessity no. It adds about an extra 10-15 hours with a new Palace, the gameplay is refined (though arguably too easy due to that) and a lot of Bosses are reconfigured.

Thanks, glad that it doesn’t have any ā€œcan’t missā€ stuff

Saw some of the game play changes and could see why you’d say it would make things too easy.

Guess I’ll see how burnt out I am after I beat it, or if I’ll want more :woman_shrugging:

I might be the only one who’s hype about Marvel’s Avengers using Matt Fractions version of Hawkeye.

Wait, Hawkeye is in the game!?

Alot of slamming the ground I see in Avengers…

I’ll wait until it hits bargain bin.

It is easily the best game released this year so far.
And probably one of the games that would remembered as part of the best of this generation.
