Ryan Reynolds as a Coffee addicted Talking Pikachu and Justice Smith plays a man looking for his estranged Police detective dad now missing after he was investigating unsanctioned pokemon fights.
I would call it more of a family movie than a kids movie as some parts get kinda dark for children.

you say family movie like itās bad. I suppose Iāll give it a try but so far pkmn has been letting me down. I know that the movies does give nods to the OG stuff but maybe within a week. Still think the pkmn designs are odd in live action. Its the eyesā¦ 
My hope was for Merio to be fun but Illumination is doing it so that can be random tier in terms of quality.
I had pretty low hopes when I went to go see it, but I ended up liking it. Its worth the watch. Yes a pokemon movie could be done better, but it was a decent first shot.
Gimme a rocky quad-trilogy type thing. what the fuck do you call a 4 movie thing?

No. I say its a good movie to sit with the family, I wouldnāt leave a 6 year old to watch alone unattended unless they donāt get scared at the intense parts of Harry Potter. But if your Kid like 10, they will be fine.

Detective Pikachu was just a 2 hour love letter to the fans of PokƩmon and the franchise in general. You could tell a lot of TLC went into building the world.
Iāve watched that movie probably 6 times and every time Iād catch (ha!) another nod I didnāt the previous viewing.
Itās so good. I donāt give a shit if the story was hella basic. It was just wonderful feeling like a little kid again.

I agree they keep the violence down for obvious reasons but it does have some good action. I would recommend as Reynolds is who he is so if you enjoy his humor you will like the film.

I have only played an hour of Hylics 2 so far and it is a very weird and unique experience. It has been frustrating in the beginning but once you get more party members and adapt to an all-in fighting style the enemies are easier to deal with.
The Iwata Asks book that was released shortly after his passing is getting western release next year. Viz Media is handling the translation and publication.
