Video Game General v8.01D : PC Gaming Golden Age, Big Box (Part 1)

If they just dropped the HD Metroid Prime Trilogy that supposedly has been done forever and the 2D Metroid in the works, I could have something to do in the mean time. Chad has me contemplating turning my Wii U on for the first time all year and popping in my copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii.

Itā€™d be interesting if being tall out there on that side of the galaxy wasnā€™t out of the ordinary.

Got to try 3 new titles last night.

Started with Carrion. That game is somethinā€™ else. It immediately feels good to navigate in that game. The animations they gave this monster really add this satisfying layer to the game where sliding through air ducts and tight tunnels already feels deliciously evil.

Combat only adds to the that feeling. You can rip through an entire room, cleaving through steel doors and human bodies alike as debris bounces between the floor and ceiling. The blood curdling screams as you thwack people across the room, and then slowly drag them into your horrifying maw is nightmare fuel. As it should be.

Biggest problem so far is that reaching out to grab stuff feels maybe lessā€¦ Precise? Than Iā€™d like? I havenā€™t tried it on keyboard and mouse, but I find myself often reaching out to grab a corpse only to accidently latch onto a piece of debris.

People have been calling it a Metroidvania (because what isnā€™t a fucking Metroidvania at this point according to people), but that doesnā€™t seem to really describe itā€¦ The game seems to give you big open ended areas that want you to explore and unlock choke points that lead to other areas of the game. Iā€™ve rarely had to go back to previous stuff so far. There are power-ups however that allow you to traverse to different parts of the facility tho, so, thereā€™s some similarities here and there. It has a nice, brisk pace and a little more linearity than your typical Metroid-like.

It seems pretty fun so far though. Youā€™re literally taking over more and more of the map through contamination with your biomass, and just the premise alone is novel enough to make it feel unique. Definitely gonna finish this one.

Tried PSO2 and PS4 too. Wanna play them a little more tho.

Thatā€™s not how REAL fans imagine her curling up into a ballā€¦her body pressed against certain parts of herā€¦

In seriousness, who cares who plays her? Most of Samus doing her thing is in full armor/ helmet and all. Itā€™s why I will stand on the idea that animated is best.

I doā€¦i would like someone who wants the roll. Even in animation someone has to be her.

Most of what I imagine is almost no lines. Live action could work but so far Nintendo properties have yet to make the jump into a good live action movie. At the least Metroid needs to be an ongoing series. I re-watched Primal and imagine it with Samus and a Metroid as her awkward partner.

I misread this as someone who wants to roll. :upside_down_face:

Okayā€¦but I still donā€™t care. I just want an adventure/exploration focused story of her traversing the world.

Which is fine but you asked ā€œWho cares?ā€ and a bunch of people are telling you they care.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk - a spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio is in development.
It will feature music from Hideki Naganuma , a composer from the first two JGR/JSRF games.

Release is sometime 2021. No platforms specified IIRC

I know. I like to get in that last word :upside_down_face:
