Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

I figured so, I just happy that the PCE console is getting some support.
They should make a Bluetooth dongle too so you can use your prefered controller.

But time will tell.

What do you guys think is probably the worst controller to come with a console?

Honestly, and maybe Iā€™ll get flack for this, but I really canā€™t stand the N64 pad.

ā€œThe Dukeā€ was also just ridiculous.

Duke -Xbox (2001)

It was one of the heaviest controllers Iā€™ve ever used.
The direction pad wasnā€™t even a real cross just a circle with 4 bumps .
The face buttons were really hard plastic and annoying when you had to press them repeatedly.

Unlike most white girls holding something big thick and black,I didnā€™t enjoy it at all.

Eh Iā€™ve heard N64 controller come up often in ā€˜worst controller discussionā€™ so I donā€™t see how youā€™d get flack for it. I liked the controller and even I can admit it was a bit convoluted. Opinions on The Duke is going to be dependent on whether your ancestor was Paul Bunyon or not.

Out of the controllers Iā€™ve held in my hand those are really the only 2 that could easily say would be at the bottom list for controller tiers.

If I had to choose a 3rd then itā€™d personally go to the 360 pad only because of the dpad.

and if I had to go another step further Iā€™d begrudgingly and objectively say the GC pad. Pad is great for Smash obviously and works great for a ton of games but itā€™s lacking in other areas, namely missing another top button ( or just being one button short to make cross platform games match up control wise), not having a proper 2nd analog, and the dpad being garbage. In fact since Iā€™m thinking about it Iā€™d have to objectively put it as worse than the 360 pad due to itā€™s flaws.

N64 controller is pure ass cheeks. I hate that controller when I was a kid and I still hate it. The c-buttons are stupid, three grips are uncomfortable and I never felt like Iā€™m holding the thing right. It was a mistake

Starting with the worst working my way down

The Atari 5200 Controller is the worst of the worst, shit breaks so easily. And the whole thing is a mess even back then.
Next is the N64 controller
The OG Xbox Dude
The Atari 7800 Joystick pretty shit, bad enough they had to go to an actual game pad.
The ColecoVision and Intellivision controllers, that disc is shit.
Atari Jaguar controller
Xbox 360 controllers (fucking D-pad)
CD i Game Controller
Sega Master System game pad
Whatever the Virtual Boy had
The Dreamcast Controller

N64 pad was clearly one of the, if not the worst designed controller to come with a console.

Sure, I played a lot of N64 games when I was a kid and thought it was awesome because it looked like a spaceship when you look at it from certain angles, but when you actually stop and look at it, it falls apart.

Why do you gotta change your grip to use either the DPad or the Analog Stick? Not to mention the entire left side of the pad being deadweight if you were using the Analog stick.

Who designed this stuff?

The Gamecube pad is hella weird too. The face buttons are just weird, but ok, they work. That tiny C-Stick thoā€¦

Actually, the worst pad Iā€™ve ever played was the 360 one. The analog is tall af and itā€™s just retarded to have it like that. Itā€™s hella uncomfortable to play with.

The Duke, Cube Controller, Master System controller, and PS3 controller.

PS3 controller might be controversial but I donā€™t like that thing. It feels very cheap and plastic. Not that you should throw controllers but hey I was a kid and PS3 controllers shatter like glass, almost everyone else can take a spike or 2 including Sonyā€™s other pads. The sticks have almost no resistance to them, and they have hands down the absolute worst triggers of all time. Playing racers on that pad was cramp city.

Word. Those things were just horrible.

The Dualshock 3 was a headache. I liked the Dpad, as usual, but everything else about it felt pretty cheap. The triggers were so unsatisfying.

Dualshock 4 has its issues, but itā€™s way closer to what I want ideally out of a pad. Probably my favorite of the DS series. That battery life is outrageous tho.

The Dualshock 5 could be an awesome pad, weā€™ll see. Iā€™m hearing itā€™s supposed to have some sort of screen on it. If that can be on there without feeling intrusive, fuck it, why not. Just keep giving me that delicious, precise Dpad action with the segmented directions.

Worst triggers than the PS4? Iā€™m admitting my opinion is colored completely by how damn senstive they are and their position. You often times have to feel like youā€™re doing an Indiana Jones with how careful you have to put the controller down when youā€™re watching anything on the system.

Worst pad was the original Xbox controller. Shit was as big as the console itself. You gotta have hands like The Big Show to use it properly

Oh absolutly. PS4 triggers are great. PS3 triggers are the worst.

Ok likeā€¦im seriously confused about the hype for Nioh. This isnā€™t very fun. Do I need to grind out a better weapon or more levels or something because having to chip away at a damage sponge boss for 5 minutes while he only needs to randomly club me twice isnā€™t very fun. I have a purple ranked Katana with the best damage I have been able to find so what gives? Been putting points into the Sword stat to. Like the combat system is there and could be fun but grinds to a really annoying halt at each boss where I always feel severely under prepared for the encounter even tho I can get through the mobs just fine. It doesnā€™t feel legitametly challenging like Sekiro did for example where I was getting beat down constantly but could always tell what I did wrong. Here I canā€™t tell if Iā€™m doing the right shit or not.

The ā€œactive reloadingā€ for stamina once again feels like a needless extra step to acquire stamina but you have to do it or else youā€™ll never have enough stamina for these boss fights that have this wonderful ability to make your stamina regen even fucking worse for periods of time just because.

The burst counters feel extremely unreliable to and thatā€™s been fucking infuriating a couple times now.

So what am I missing?

Git Gud :triumph:

Dual Shock. It was ass in 1995 and they keep carting that bullshit design out every generation.

Edit: Honorable mention to the Xbox Controller S. They should called it the Controller asS. Shit was small as fuck and they compounded it with asinine placement of the White and Black buttons.

I loved the OG PlayStation Dualshock, PS2 Dualshock is a refinement of all that good with the OG.
PS3 6 Axis is kinda ass, Dualshock 3 is take it or leave it, Later Redesign PS4 Dualshock is just as gold as the PS1 and PS2 Dualshocks.
I hate that split level analog layout microsoft does.
