I tried that Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom not long ago. Its pretty. But it seemed like something I would start a kid out with. I was told to keep going cause its real good. I’ll get to it some other time.
I tried that Fight’N Rage not long ago as well. Someone here was talkin’ about it here and there. Its pretty cool.
Battle Chasers is like one of the only turn-based style rpgs I can get into these days. Even then I can only play it in short bursts. I play it on da vita so I can just put it in sleep mode when I get tired of playing.
Katana Zero is really cool. I wish My Friend Pedro would have been as cool.
Yeah, lots of good games on that list.
Edit - Of all the current gen stuff the Switch is the only one I’m interested in. Its portable and has a shit load of fun games. But they’re still too pricey for my taste and I want a proper hack before I buy one.
Honestly, a kid starting out with that game would probably be for the best. I read online reviews by adults bitching about the game not telling them where to go! One of the main complaints is it being obtuse, but it just requires patience.
Me and @purbeast were talking about it last year. I still haven’t figured out that that cork. I need to give it another go.
I haven’t played the second one, but the first game is easily one of my favorites games. The theme, platforming, combat, traversal are all top-notch. Get to that sooner than later
I’d say about 9/10 of the indie games I try are dogshit. Then, once in a while, a gem will release like DUSK. It’s not just one of the best indie games I’ve ever played, it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played period.
In my experience your average indie game straight up sucks ass. I’d rather play a “AA” or “B” tier release or just some lesser known game across various generations over an indie any day, there’s almost always more potential there than in some random 1-note indie.
Completed the original trilogy today
UC1 clocked in at 7.5 hours, UC2 clocked in at 12.5 hours, UC3 clocked in at 9 hours
All three first playthroughs were done on Hard difficulty
Also jumped into UC4 and currently at Chapter 6
Naughty Dog’s engineers are real magicians to push this kind of visual fidelity out of 2012 tier hardware, the game is absolutely gorgeous, but that framerate is…awful. I’m not even sure it’s 30fps, feels like closer to 24 or something. Or maybe it’s only a placebo after experiencing 1-3 at true 60fps. Either way won’t be surprised if UC4 and TLOU2 will both receive some kind of an update for PS5 to up the framerate
Anyways, so far the rating of the games for me is 2 > 3 > 1, which funnily enough is the same rating I give to the Crash Bandicoot games
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is truly a gem and really didn’t get the attention it deserved. I have recommended it several times here trying to get the word out.
