I actually wonder how sony is planning to handle the PS4-PS5 transition. I recall at PS4 launch if you already own games from a specific lineup (Black Flag, NFS Rivals, Infinite Warfare, …) you had an option of paying ~15-20$ for a ‘digital upgrade’ of sorts so you could buy the nextgen version for much cheaper

I don’t think that would fly this time if Microsoft are doing crossgen upgrades for free (wel…unless you’re EA I guess)

Yeah. I gotta give M$ credit where credit is due. Despite the lack of true exclusives (Due to Windows cross play) they are building such a great ecosystem for their players. The range of their BC, Ultimate Game Pass, Smart Delivery, a very seamless and easy to use OS and store front, even playing nice with Nintendo while may be frowned upon by Xbox diehards is a brilliant move as well.

They’re making all the right moves and fixing all the mistakes they made with the Xbone. All they need is the content to back it up. They’ve been getting amazing studios to help with that but if they turn DoubleFine into another 360 Era, Rare I’m going to fucking scream.

Also, I’m glad they’ve been more transparent about the “no exclusives for 2 years” thing. They now clearly and precisely say that there will be no Xbox SEX exclusives because they’ll also be released on the Xbone as well. It doesn’t mean they won’t have actual exclusives it’s just them wanting to make the transition smooth. They don’t want to chop their already small player base off at the knees to where the only way to fix it is to upgrade. It’s smart and as a lot of people have mentioned it’s insanely consumer friendly.

I’m patiently waiting for Sony to wake the fuck up and start dropping info bombs on the PS5 because as of right now M$ is running away with the W between the two.

Yeah MS basically realized there’s no way they could continue competing with Sony on equal footing without a massive and strong first party library that PS4 had, so it makes sense they one-upped Sony in places PlayStation has been noticeably slacking throughout last generation, such as backwards compatibility. Now that they got a bunch of studios under their wing I hope they can really come back strongly next generation and throw some punches with AAA-class first party projects. They may not rival Sony’s established franchises in terms of brand recognition, but many of them could also be brand new IPs, which would also be a huge benefit to MS since they’re kinda known as a conveyor belt for the Holy Trinity of Halo/Forza/Gears

but then again sequels is a thing the industry suffers a lot from in general, mostly because of exponentially rising costs of development

I wasn’t? All I’ve said is so far they’re making all the right moves when it comes to building an ecosystem for the Xbox brand.

I have no loyalty to any console. I’ll buy whatever console has the games I want. As of now neither M$ or Sony do because neither have them have showed anything, really. Bright Memory looked cool as fuck as did Scarlett Nexus but neither are exclusives.

While knowing which has the better price point is important what’s more important is features and how they’re implemented as well as first party content.

Price point is unknown for both consoles. We can expect the $500-550usd range.
As of now M$ is wiping the floor with Sony in features. However, that’s due to Sony sitting on their hands and not announced any because they want M$ to “Fire the first shot”. Sony needs to start dropping info soon because a monthly direct style presentation going over features and content for the Sex is going to garner more attention and more excitement each time.
Content is a shade of gray right now for Xbox because they said there will be no sex exclusive but that doesn’t mean there won’t be Xbox/Microsoft exclusives. We have nothing content wise from PlayStation. Both of these are a bad look since the consoles are dropping in presumably about 6 months.

I agree 100%. Sony has the lineage and IP war chest to make PS5 a day one for a lot of people. Me included. Xbox doesn’t outside of Halo and arguably Gears of War. Even then the last few Halo’s have apparently been very shitty while Gear’s popularity has been teetering for a while now.

I’m in no way writing off Sony. Cause that’s stupid. All I’ve said is while Sony is keeping everyone in the dark for reasons the Sex is sounding more and more appealing to people
