Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

I still wonder who owns the Toaplan library. M2 is porting some of their work but I still dunno who the rights holder is.

And don’t forget the Emulators the Mini consoles uses, roms used by Virtual Console, and many retro game packs/Collections you can buy for moderm systems. The Secret of Mana collection used a fan made translation for the English SNES port of Trials of Mana.

For a second I couldn’t think of anything to contribute to the theme…then it hit me

As of 2019, the rights to many Toaplan games are owned by Tatsujin, a company founded in 2017 by former Toaplan member Masahiro Yuge and now-affiliate of Japanese arcade manufacturer exA-Arcadia.

Here is their Webpage

Heh that makes sense. Tatsujin (and Tatsujin Oh!) are both legendary Toaplan games.

On the subject of Nintendo hoarding ROMs - I really don’t get it why it took them like the 25th anniversary of Pokemon to release Red in Virtual Console for the Switch. And not to mention…what about the games from following generations?

Why not just do a Pokemon Collection that has everything from Kanto up until Galar, and have it on one system? People love Pokemon, the games sell literally millions, the Switch is a pretty big success for Nintendo, so…what gives?

I guess the 3DS games would be somewhat problematic since they were designed for a two-display setup but still

How’s Nioh 2 guys? I’ve been wanting to pick it up since release. I might grab it and Ys around the same time.

I’m hoping to snag a physical copy on PS4. It’s the last new game release I want this year next to Ys. Wonderful Juan OH Juan is nowhere to be seen online in Canada eh, and when I do see it it’s only the Switch version. Weird. Oh well, thankfully I can walk into a random store and buy it unlike SoR4 and Shantae.

Yeah, about that.

In addition to that, most LRG printed games will be available on their site once they release at Best Buy’s and preorders are fulfilled.

Best Buy Canada straight up doesn’t get those LRG releases. I’ve never seen them in-store and I just checked their website and there’s nothing.

Future Shop was owned by Best Buy and they closed them all down here a few years back. Sucks because there was one near a Best Buy here and the gaming selection was always different compared to Best Buy. RIP. RIP Blockbuster as well. I loved hitting up a bunch of random places that sold games…there were always deals to be had, but as more & more of these stores closed down my options are super limited these days. Feelsbadmang

So preorder them on LRG?

Preorders close Sunday

Shantae preorders start on the 15th

Everything Hudson Soft sadly is owned by the parasites living in Konami’s corpse.

Imagine saying that in a world where Breath of Fire exists.
