Quite a shame how That Company wanted to push Virtua Fighter instead of Eternal Champions back then, even though EC was apparently quite a success in sales. Eternal Champions had far more interesting characters and concept, at least in my opinion… my favorites were Xavier, Midnight and Trident (*Trident had RIDICULOUS, easy combos; huge damage). It may be blasphemy here, but the VF franchise never meant much for me because none of the characters stood out as even slightly cool/interesting…there’s also the matter of first impressions being everything----even at the time when it was the new thing in arcades, those blocky visuals were ugly as hell to me.

And also, as mentioned in that Flophouse video, EC didn’t really intrude on VF at all. They’re not the same thing, and EC’s success wouldn’t have taken away from VF’s success.

Eh. Even if the leaks are true, stuff will probably just blow over. It’ll still sell well, and there’s a lot of game in between those leaks that may very well make all that stuff feel earned. This, despite everything I’ve said before. While I don’t really care that much at the end of the day, I’m still hoping the story is TLOU1 quality. TLOU1’s story, though I only watched all the cinematics/connecting gameplay, was fantastic and one of the few gaming stories to really stick with me in the past few years. They’ve GOT to have some good stuff on deck for 2 to justify what I’ve heard/seen, IF that stuff wasn’t taken out of context to begin with.
I said fuck it and looked up the last of us 2 leaks. My interest in the game is dead. If any of it is true I’m saving my $60. I don’t want what they’re giving.

Sega of Japan in a nutshell. VF is the better game, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have both franchises. VF for the gameplay, EC for the…cribbing of MK’s shtick.

With all the TLoU talk, it looks I’ll be one of those to get in on it after all. I read one of the spoilers and apparently it ties into the first game, which makes sense if true. Don’t see the hubbub about it.
I need to play Katana Zero some more. Game is real fun and short. I should just put my head down and power through it. I really wish that My Friend Pedro would have lived up to my expectations. Its a stylish game and all that but its just not…controls mad crazy and its super easy.
