Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

I just want to say Streets of Rage 4 is the shit. I can’t believe I was worried how this game would turn out. They did a damn good job. I got to unlock more stuff. Damn this game is fun.

After hearing this stuff about TLOU 2, I remembered something about Anita Sarkeesian and Cyberpunk 2077. Panicked, I googled, and found that she tried to offer her “services” on that game as a representation consultant a while ago and they left that bitch on read. Phew.

Very late edit: I’m seriously wondering something here guys. IF TLOU2 is as bad as the leaks suggest, could that put a real kibosh on injecting social agendas into gaming in the future? Sure, if things are this bad, they’ll be dunked on by twitter a bunch. But this game was massively anticipated as the sequel to one of the best games ever. Could it bombing like this have an actual impact on gaming going forward?

I’m not fully anti-wokeness and social justice in my video games. One of my favorite games last decade - Horizon Zero Dawn - had social justice stuff in it. But it wasn’t overbearing, and it was surrounded by great gameplay and story. Though the possibility is very small, I’m kinda worried that TLOU2 failing because it sacrificed itself at social justice’s altar will alter or stop games that were thinking of injecting wokeness in a good way. The gameplay may be affected as a result.

@axeman61 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6f6mmuh_04 This was great. I haven’t been keeping up with the TLOU 2 drama, but this sums it all up really well and in a funny way.

This Neil guy cucked the narrative of The Last of the Mohicans 2 just to appease Anita Shalshaskakjsrneniernere

Trying Trials of Mana demo out. Being this is a Japanese RPG, I’m sure the full game wi’ll end with killing god😂

I’ll say it won’t affect it too much, if at all. There was fallout with a CoD or Battlefield game that tried adding something other than non-white males and that pissed off enough neckbeards that it didn’t sell.

This is an anticipated sequel from ND on one of Sony’s most popular consoles. Especially in a time where people are staying in.

Different demographics and times, basically.

Almost done with my first playthrough of Streets of Rage 4. Game is soo good.

Gonna put more work into Fist of the North Star after that. I should have the first playthrough done by this week, but who knows. There’s more desert to explore, and my buggy isn’t equipped for them yet. Not sure if it pertains to the story but it could be two weeks total, and then I’m caught up with Studio RGG releases until Like A Dragon comes out and/or the Samurai game releases.

Yeah. People make noise about how Battelfield 5 (the game you’re talking about) is an exercise in not pissing off your fanbase, but it still sold VERY well. Just not up to EA’s ludicrous sales forecasts.

But TLOU is different, I feel. It has a way more positive (for lack of a better word) following than BF, which is just another shooter. It’s lauded for its story above its gameplay, and frequently cited for an example of games being art. Its sequel slipping and falling like this? TLOU2 may sell well, but I really don’t know if a story failure of that magnitude will stay self-contained.

Diablo 3 once again— paragon level 293 on Switch… more levels flew by as I finally got the “Chantodo’s” wand and source; I hear this was toned down in recent months, but it’s still one hell of an upgrade for any wizard build involving the Vyr’s set. The upgrade to your power via the “wave of destruction” from Chantodo’s and it’s synergy with Vyr’s is insane… I’m still not as far in the Greater Rifts as I would like though… just now passing GR 57…and even at that “low” GR, my defense isn’t enough to not just get one-shotted by a Rift Guardian… I got killed 2 or 3 times by the last one…but had plenty of time to spare since Vyr’s+Chantodo’s still wipes out regular enemies and elites like they are nothing.
(*quick note for the uninitiated— the HP values in Diablo 3 are far beyond most games that have ever been made, at least from what I’ve seen… even in relatively “low” GRs and difficulties… COMMON enemies can have a billions of HP at the least…it all sounds crazy until you remember just how OP the D3 player characters can get…currently mine is doing a few hundred billion on critical hits from what I’ve noticed…ha, and my old friend with the terrible character builds…even his characters could do a few million in critical damage if I recall.)

Streets of Rage 4— more than likely I’m double-dipping on this, as there’s people I could be playing this with on XB1, and those tragically deprived souls actually don’t have a Switch. (*it was only recently that an old college buddy finally got one.)

I haven’t checked out the spoilers, but I’ll say that ND has a lot of good will, that fans who did read the spoilers will check it out regardless and write it off any misconceptions, initially, as being work of trolls. It’d take A LOT have one of their game’s not sell on the PS4, and with the hype for this game, it’d at least get people on board just to see if the leaks are true.

To state I think there are ND fans who could be pissed of enough about the ‘SJW’ stuff to avoid the game, but not in numbers that it’ll have an effect on the game’s sales.

Y’all need to try this game out. Free demo type version of it on Steam. Its fun as fuck. I been playing it for a couple/few months and Im still having a blast with it. That video there…me and that dude were unstoppable. I died there so I could go take a piss. Two levels later the dude left cause…we just too stronk. hmhmhm

Yeah, that it will sell well was never in doubt. I guess that’s all that matters though.

Megatron, Motormaster, and Shockwave are the tracks that I keep on deck.

If you haven’t gotten around to playing either War for Cybertron or Fall of Cybertron, do it. Both have a really solid story with great gameplay to match. I do wish they got around to a sequel for this Devastation.

You are totally missing out. There are some really good stories (including those mentioned earlier) in the Transformers lore that are better developed than what was created in 1984. G1 is great, but there’s a lot more than just G1.

The WFC/FOC games were this very interesting homage to G1. I will say that I didn’t like design change was actually going from Prime’s model in WFC to FOC.

FOC

Not really to be honest. This is pretty much the way that Hasbro and Takara have moved for years now. They know that G1 is their easy way to print money. I am more surprised that it was well received but no one bought it.

There is honestly something to be said for those designs. They do look like alien robots that just happen to turn into Earth-based vehicle. Prime’s probably the most upsetting for me as there were no need for the flames. I still stand by that the model itself is pretty awesome.

Oof, I’d have to somehow find retail copies for both for my PS3, since neither is sold digitally

Activision cut the distribution on those titles (Devastation included) a few years back. It’s a shame because these are actually some really solid games. Going between WFC and FOC, the first game actually had three player co-op where the second was only single player.

Peter Cullen is also the voice of Optimus Prime.

It will probably make some dent.
But the real blow will be to the next project from ND.
Keep in mind that the game’s story sucking if we go by the leaks, is not their only concern.

In the last few years ND has been getting a bad rep on the industry as a work place.
With the current VP chasing away OG’s and founder members of ND.

Right now they have lost around 70% of their workforce due the whole work place related problems.
And with how they have been handling the whole leaks fiasco, they are only getting more bad rep.

Another thing.
For a lot of players, the lack of MP is a huge dealbreaker.
So even if some oif those people dont care about the politics injected on the game, they will still hold on buying the game because of this.

Fuk em, play stupid games win stupid prizes. You reap what you sow. If the company cant manage its own shit to survive, thats on them.

This is the year that will mark a turning point for the entertentment industry in general.
With the whole Covid19 situation, people will be more selective on what they buy.

And many will find out the harsh way that politics dont sell (no matter what kind of politics)
People want to be enterteined, not lectured.

We already saw the start of the swing of the pendulum last year with the movie industry, with plenty of flops that touted identity politics as their selling point.
Wouldnt be surprised if happens with videogames as well this year.

It could have a negative effect on their next game, as it was previous mentioned but that won’t be seen until their next game is out, which could be another four years from now. I don’t see it happening regardless. ND is probably the prime developer for Sony so even with a miss(es?) it’ll take awhile for it to amount to anything.

It’s like when Miyamoto is at the helm of a stinker at Nintendo and people still give his projects the benefit of the doubt even after the previous work, or try blame something else for it.

Not long ago I explained how you could play games like Transformers - Fall of Cybertron on your PS3.
