Dude, Nomura is one of three main people working on it. There’s plenty of great things about the game. You’re talking out your ass
Whether you hate Nomura or not, 7R is solid, if not phenomenal. Haven’t finished the last stretch so it pretty much has to self destruct in the last few hours in order to be considered garbage, and I just don’t see it at this point. Battle system and character development too stronk
For a while now, Bandai/Namco just comes off as quite a lazy ass company, imo. …like nearly “DSP” levels of lazy. Look at how Soul Calibur has turned out in recent years. Yeah, it just continues to get under my skin how half-ass that damn franchise has become at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the art in the next Soul Calibur is literally just black & white storyboard sketches that someone did in about 30 to 45 minutes…and with royalty-free music they found on a random youtube search…and with less characters + even worse loading… all for 59.99 again… triflin’ ass
I find sad that Nomura, like with Ono gets a lot of flack from shit is clear out of his control, lol.
I guess that they being the most visible faces, is only natural.
I don’t think it’s garbage but the game just feels like a straight troll product.
The game was completely solid that it was inconceivable how this could be disliked. It blows you away with how brilliantly done and emotionally powerful it is, at the same time having a great gameplay… but at the end it throws this huge shit on my face. The more I try to rationalize it the more I am convinced that the expectations of the 2nd part has to be lowered.
Summary
I assume the 2nd part is going to be a small add on like the FFXV dlc’s. You have a game this big, with a level cap at 50 plus stats that end way to high for pt 1. It’s likely the 2nd part is the last episode.
The story is that “we” are the Whisperers, because we are the ones pissing off that they are deviating to much. So it’s like Square made us the villains. They made a game in where we would end up loving as much and at the end of it all we find out that it is a product telling us to fuck off.
I did none of the side content the first time through and thought it was great and it took me 32 hours. The fuck kind of early access game is 32 hours long man?
This after saying you liked another remake full of changes and cut content and shit and its only 6 hours long to boot.
I like you bro, but fuck off with that nonsense lol.
At least I don’t have to buy it 3-4X over to get the “full” experience.
I don’t like Nomura & he’s the lead director. I don’t like the changes in tone to the original. The VA’s all sound like omega FouGheyZhee’s and it’s off putting as a motherfucker. I don’t like Squeenix games post FFX(I’ve tried, I hated X-2, I hated 12, I hated 13. I bought 15 for next to nothing, but based on my experience with the recent games in the series there’s a high chance I won’t like it either.)
I’ve tried to watch some videos on it but I cringe every damn time. I dunno, I just don’t care for your average JRPG anymore outside of Souls, Dragon’s Dogma and Ys.
Hate X-2 and XII
Your opinion is invalid.
It’s ok to hate XIII though, XIII-2 was superior in every way.
You say you dont like Nomura, yet i can bet without a doubt all your reasons are dumb shit associated because he is the fall guy in your eyes
Also, you are aware that this game is actually in line with the real characterization of the characters, unlike the rushed translation job of the original, right?
The Kingdom Hearts guy.
That can add to the charm. Remember the OG translation of Chrono Trigger? People prefer the SNES/PS1 versions to the DS version. The guy who translated them around the first time gave his own flavor to the translation, and the DS version was more “updated” IIRC and closer to the original JP version and in doing so a lot of charm was lost, especially with Frog.

Game of the year
I heard FF7 took Xenogears budget
a xenogears remake would please no one. the original developers are with nintendo and if square tried to do it they’d change the battle system to some bullshit and the mech parts to a 3rd person shooter.
I have to say it really saddens me that people generally hate/dislike X-2. I think it’s a very fun game, the MC trio have lovely interactions not just between each other but with other characters in Spira as well, Shin-ra’s monster battle arena is a cool piece of endgame content (it’s like buiilding a Pokedex in a Final Fantasy entry), though some of the bosses are a bit disappointing, including the final one, and the ending is pretty weird too. Battle system is great as well, I like how it even gives you some eperimentation with different dress sphere boards since you can switch classes on the go during encounters
I’m not too aware of that, but have the devs said it’s entirely canon? Cuz from what I’ve seen people mostly call it trash because of the story and how several characters have done an almost 180 from their FFX selves, including Yuna (and I’ll admit it was pretty weird seeing her change from a grieving summoner that basically saved the world to a JPOP star with a personality of a teenage girl)
That’s why most people dislike it. The characters were just dumb. Stupid JPOP star, stupid emo chick, and Rikku the goofball.
The series went downhill after Sakaguchi left. FF9 was the last truly great mainline FF imo.
Why is it weird she did a 180? Her father died being a summoner and she was destined to die as a summoner as well. She had no goals or aspirations past beating sin and dying. Life with sin was doom ridden and depressing.
Why wouldn’t most of spira return to normalcy with the constant threat of sin gone?
Hey I’m not going to die now…I can live and have…fun? Omg this is awesome.
Peeps mad a teenager is acting like a teenager.

So much wrong with this. X-2 cast was great and so was the game itself. IX is great, there have been plenty after it that have been great if not better.
Yeah Aerith, cloud and barrett are very different from the original and it’s made me happy as fuck.
This snarky crap talking Aerith is easily my favorite character in the game.
The original translation made me hate most of the cast.
It just doesn’t click in my mind how Yuna would turn from “I do spirit rituals and use powerful magic to call powerful creatures” to “imma be Spira’s #1 pop singer”, even given the timeskip between the finale of FFX and sometime before the beginning of FFX2
It makes perfect sense to me. She never no longer has striving to be a sacrifice and can actually live a life without being tied down by what her father did. She’s finally living for herself and going wild with it.
Id be confused by character motivations that aren’t in the game to. Yuna has 0 intentions of becoming a pop star in X-2. That’s never her motivation during the game.
