7R is one of the best action RPG systems period

for me its between 7r or final fantasy x-2 but i don’t really hate any ff or jrpg battle system in general i just consider them to have their on quirks. although i generally prefer them to be fully turn based or full action minus grandia, shadow hearts, ect.

I really liked 13’s combat as well. But yeah 7R is super good. If 15 had 7R’s combat I’d be a very happy gamer.

X-2, XII, XIII-2 and VIIRe have the best combat systems.

I can’t really pick an absolute best.

I just wanted a simple remake with the big moments happening as expected, can’t say much more without spoilers but that was disappointing for me. Well, let’s wait for part 2.

The only 3D FF I haven’t played are X-2 and XIII-3, I remember liking XIII-2’s battle system more than XIII but it was kinda identical with some tweaks iirc (as a whole, I liked 2 better so maybe I was just biased)
VIIR’s battle system is better than XV imo, the only “downside” is the fact that the other characters don’t do much if you don’t control them and you can’t give them strategies so they can act on their own. You have to switch characters a lot, not that it’s a bad thing since they’re all really fun to play but I guess some people won’t like that. Apart from that, it’s awesome and some fights (Turks, Rufus, and most bosses for example) were a blast.
XII was good too, gambits were great.

I can understand that, but as I’ve said here before, a remake doesn’t invalidate an original, and honestly I find them trying to do their own version to be more interesting. Even if it turns out that later parts aren’t as good, it could still make someone appreciate the original in a new way.

But honestly considering how damn good the character writing is I think it’ll be fine. And although Nomura has a reputation for making strange as fuck unrelatable stories, he’s not the only on involved in the creative aspect here and isn’t directing either IIRC. And what we actually did get is definitely more heartfelt. Moreso than the original for me.

Overall I’m optimistic about the remakes

I just finished FF7r and I have questions on certain things so for those who have finished the game, please help me out.

Summary

Is this really a remake or a reboot?

It seems like the goal of the gang is to deviate from the original story in order to finish off Seph once and for all.

From my interpretation, those whispers are trying to make sure the original story of FF7 doesn’t change and the path they are forcing Cloud and everyone to go through is the “wrong” one according to Aerith’s.

What is going on?

I think X, V, XII, and X-2 had the best with VIIr making it’s way up there.

If they ever remade V, they should just keep it like X-2’s battle system.

FF7RE ending stuff

Summary

Real answer is we can’t be sure yet but everything points to being a new story. I don’t think calling it a reboot is correct because it does acknowledge events of the original. It’s probably more likely to be an alternate universe/timeline. It’s almost assuredly not a pure retelling of the original story.

Actually I think Jim Sterling put it a good way, saying FF7RE feels like an adaptation.

Small contribution to vgm friday

When you think about the ending, it’s like saying it’s going into a reboot. Aerith opens another portal and says “this is the path of no return” and from then on it’s changing events, that is why Wedge is alive again. That’s when it turns out that the entire thing is likely a reboot starting from that point at the ending.

The game itself is a remake but the entire thing is to have it rebooted. That’s what i’m interpreting from the whole Whispers, it’s like these whispers are trying to make sure it’s a remake but Aerith is going “fuck nah we are changing it”.

inb4 sold out within a week

Reading that spoilerd convo about FF7R.

Summary

Boy all of that sounds super shitty. Lol fuck that game if they arent sticking to the story.

Summary

I wouldn’t call it a reboot if it doesn’t invalidate or ignore the original though personally. It’s not saying that path doesn’t exist or completely ignores the original path. It directly references it even. An alternate timeline that has the same starting point isn’t a reboot to me. I think of a reboot as being a total reset and having nothing to do with the original outside of like character names.

Nah, it’s really not shitty dude. I mean, it’ll be shitty if the next parts are shitty

Nah, given that it already is.

Summary

It all sounds like wack fanfiction. Them deviating is just them fanfictioning the shit out of it. If Aeris doesnt get stabbed in the next installment or they make some gimmicky way of bringing her back, throw the whole idea in the trash.

That is ridiculous, you can’t seriously want to throw the whole game away just for that

Summary

Heh it’s a strange decision to make from them since what they did before the ending was basically perfect and actually added good things to FFVII, this game was seriously a blast to play. A pure remake with what they were doing was a dream come true for me, sadly the ending happened but obviously it’s way, way too early to throw tomatoes, it might actually end up good. I’m just not that confident after playing every KH games, but maybe they’ll get it right this time. It’s FFVII after all (though I wasn’t a fan of what the compilation added to the universe…)
Still, the game is incredible and I’ll probably buy all parts.

Some real FF7 blowups happening in here right now lol
