I think it’s definitely an afterthought, but hey that’s not a bad thing. It’s definitely an interesting angle to take. Resident Evil 5’s story is a blast, I remember they actually threw me for a loop when they revealed it was her under the mask. They took a fairly insignificant moment in RE3 and actually expanded upon it in a meaningful way. I just doubt they had her get infected with RE5’s story in mind.
Wasn’t that like a retroactive change? I thought Wesker was gonna use Sherry til 5 came out, then it was changed to Jill? Wesker Report I believe.

In the Wesker report it stated that Sherry was in Wesker’s custody. RE6 threw that shit out.
Jill doesn’t retroactively change anything as she was his lab rat for 3 years and that covered within the game.
I thought the Jill reveal was obvious. Jill dying 3 years prior to the game’s start, never found the body and there’s a hooded figure infecting people? May as well hold a neon sign saying it was her.
What’s obvious to current me is not what was obvious to like, 16 year old me or however old I was.

Same man. I re-downloaded 1 through 7 and I’ve just been dipping in and out of games. Particularly 5 today. I forgot how good Mercenaries was in this. I think I wanna run through the whole game again.
I’d play Rev2 with you but I only have the Revelations games on Switch. Really need to get them for PS4…

…just got another dose of the crazy world of DOOM again… as usual I have to take a moment and revel in the awesome things I have seen and done in the past hour or so… I’m at the point where I’ve acquired the beloved BFG-9000. It’s funny how they give a perfect room with tons of “Possessed” enemies RIGHT after getting it, as if to say “here…try it out right now…go on…” and ohhhhh yes it’s delicious.
There was another major battle I just got past… it was loaded up with so much… there was at least 2 Summoners in there (*not sure what happened to the 2nd one after I killed the first though)…3 Cyber Mancubus dudes, Revenants, Knights, etc. There was Quad Damage there but after dying a couple of times in this room I decided to save it until the tougher enemies showed up, and that helped…I also had that BFG at the ready as my ultimate “nuclear option”
edit-- one of the more satisfying kills in this game is the chainsaw. I can’t get enough of that… even though you burn through all 3 tanks of gas on the major enemies…it’s SO good when you catch them with it.
This game, man… goddamn

As someone who doesn’t know about RE franchise…
Why did they wait 17 years to return to remakes…RE 1 remake was in 2002 and RE 2 Remake was 2019.
Was it a response to decreasing sales from 6 and 7?
I’ve always heard of folks on here and in general make fun of 6 alot.
REmake 2 was a project Capcom did because of fan demand. It didn’t get greenlit until 2015. There isn’t much more to it than that.

I think this comes from the fact that CV was actually scheduled to be the REAL RE 3, whereas Nemesis was just meant to be a spinoff, but Sony decided to flex their legal muscle (I guess they had some sort of contract with Capcom to bind the first 3 RE games to the PSOne?), and thus Nemesis became RE 3 and CV came to be.
I think people still have nightmares with the whole Tyrant fight on the plane in CV halfway through the game. Oh yeah, and Steve Burnside cuz fuck that guy.
