Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

I thought it was breaking into three parts? Kind of like how it released on three discs on the original PlayStation?

I wanted to ask, but didn’t, but you answered. Next time I’ll post it in the Lounge, and it’ll be from Judgment.

Judgement I just started up again today. Just noticed one of the moves I need to unlock is…Tiger Drop :facepunch:

I like going in blind, even if I don’t have an attachment to something. I played some FF7 at a cousin’s house back in the day. Loved the atmosphere and music. Only ever got to the helicopter fight which is after the stealth mission, I believe.

I’ll take you’re post in to consideration. That Squeenix isn’t milking it as much as I’m thinking?

Idk why I keep thinking they can’t do FF7 in 3 parts even with expansions to the story but disc 2 wasn’t super long and disc 3 was pretty much just the last dungeon and that’s it. 3 parts seems doable

Anyone know anything about the Invasion light gun arcade game from back in the day? I never played it but looked at some youtube videos and I’m picking the board up from someone locally this upcoming week. Just curious to hear opinions about it if anyone has played it.

Man holy shit his run is so cleannn. :weary:

Yea I think a lot of people are forgetting just how many CGI cutscenes disc 2 and 3 have and some are long and are lot of what facilitated the need for 3 discs.

While I was “hating” on remixes of the FF7 boss theme earlier, the remixed battle theme for the remake is fucking aces.

And some.of the bosses have their own versions of said boss theme and the one for Air Buster was pretty sick honestly. I liked it more then the one used during the Scorpion Tank.

The music overall has been really great. Even just like random pathway and dungeon tracks like the ones for the collapsed highway.

Also, I beat the Leviathan summon in VR and holy shit it was a ton of fun. It really required some strategy. Manaward and Barret’s Lifesaver abilities were MAJOR work horses in making that fight doable.

It was also one of the first boss where it SEEMS like there wasn’t a way to put them in pressured state so you just had to lay on the stagger damage at every chance you could.

Great fight.

Disc 2 had

  • Icicle Inn + Snowboard ride minigame
  • Frozen plain (where you can fall unconcious)
  • Dangerous Labyrinth (+ Jenova fight 3)
  • Junon getting attacked (+ the bitchslap fight between Tifa and Scarlet)
  • Getting to fly the Highwind for the first time
  • Mideel and North Corel Express
  • Shinra underwater base + Submarine mission minigame
  • Midgar getting attacked

Depending on how many assets Square plans on/can reuse, it could take them awhile to make the updated versions of Junon and Midgar specifically for the Weapon assault scenarios. Other than these two there’s plenty of new locations that are unaccessible on Disc 1, provided Square would want to expand upon them as much as they did Midgar for Part 1

But you’re right about Disc 3, however, outside of giving the players a chance to finish whatever questlines there are, the Chocobo stuff to find KOTR, and the superbosses in form of Ruby, Omega and Emerald weapons, it’s basically just the Northern Crater where you go down and fight Jenova and Sephi

The problem is that because Part 1 is just Midgar, they still have to do the Overworld, Kalm, Costa Del Sol, Chocobo Farm, Junon, Golden Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, Rocket Town, Temple of the Ancients, and the Forgotten Capital, which leads me to believe all of these will get shuffled into the “new” Disc 2, and the actual Disc 2 content from the original game will instead be put onto “Disc 3”

Disc 3 had Midgard again, there some hidden key to get back into the city, as inside is hidden tifa’s hidden top level ultimate weapon the god hand

I think it’s very unlikely that we’ll even see all of those locations honestly.

I’m thinking the overworld gets cut, Gold Saucer, Neilbeheim, Junon, Forgotten City and Temple of the Acients definitely staying. Can’t predict what we may lose, and it’s no guarantee what we keep is gonna be fully developed

If I was Square, I wouldn’t cut too much tho, but budget may not allow it. Just don’t want another FF15 situation (or so I’ve heard)

At least half of those locations are important to the story or it’s where additional party member recruitments take place. So Golden Saucer, Nibelheim, Rocket Town, Temple of the Ancients, Forgotten Capital, Northern Crater, Corel Desert, and Mideel have to stay in.

I guess depending on whether the remake will have any sort of open world travel in Parts 2 and beyond we could be losing all the Highwind stuff and locations that can only be accessed through it (but they have to integrate Wutai somehow so the party can recruit Yuffie)

Junon might stay in but downsized just to have the epic setpiece with one of the weapons attacking the city. Same with the return to Midgar.

I doubt that were losing anything
considering part one like 40 to 50 hours and the original game can be beaten in 40 hours

Idk why you think that since they expanded 3-4 hour section into a 40 hour game. We definitely bout to lose some shit

otherwise we’re talking about a 300 hour plus game if they continue to expand and pad out everything like they did for part 1. We’d be old as fuck or dead before they ever finished

Were not losing anything.
Only thing i saw was missing so far was a tutorial area in the slums, and they replaced that with some beginner grade side missions

I would love for them to cut the desert maze.

Oh God, that was so awful and stupid. I second that, I had to actually use a strategy guide to beat that. It really didn’t make much sense on its own

I liked the Desert maze, it was easy

Why are people forgetting about Cosmo Canyon?

Also, FF7 had a lot of fluff and needless traveling. A lot of that I’m sure will be cut down or just removed entirely.

Cuz all it had was the FMV about the Meteor and the emotional scene with Red XIII. That’s about it. Both of those things could be made into cutscenes instead of actually recreating the location from scratch

Yeah. Learning the origin and the reason the life stream exists along with foreshadowing Sephiroths plan and Red’s origin are completely gloss over worthy.

Ok. :upside_down_face:
