Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

Fextralife review for FF7 says 50 hours to do everything. That’s the longest claim.ive hear so far. Most say between 30 and 40.

Fextralife review seemed kind of all over the place to me. Only review I’ve seen that said the gameplay was the weakest part. Pretty.much everyone else has said it’s the beat part. Kinda weird.

Yeah all the reviews I saw had a 35-45 hour completion time.

Fextralife likes games that can bring a degree of difficulty and technicality. While I’m sure the combat is decent or good to the more casual buyer, it likely didn’t fit their taste.

Very strange considering earlier today I’ve heard GiantBomb’s thoughts during their podcast and it’s been mentioned that the combat is rather deep with stuff like weapon mastery that lets you permanently learn a specific skill, kinda like how FF9’s equipment worked

For the PS4 I think its a little over done, but if utilized correctly its can be very immersive.
I say make the light minimum and get rid of the Eye toy functions.

Like the color of the light indicates your current health, Green or Blue = Good, Red = Low.
Or have the controller flash red when you take a hit.
Or have the controller change colors as a detector looking for something Hot/Cold, with the color indicating how close or far you are from the item or target you are searching for.

I never liked the color light being an indicator for what player is what, How should I know Player 1 is Blue, Player 2 is Red, Player 3 is Green and player 4 is what ever. (Yeah I am picking colors at random as I never bother with 4 players on PS4, did plenty of 4 players on the n64 and Switch).
I prefer having 4 individual lights for marking what player is what, like the PS3 and Switch controllers do.

Also, I’m pretty sure the light on the Dualshock 4 helps for more accurate calibration with the PS Camera on games that use it for VR, like RE7 or Statik.

Yeah the one feature everyone ignores, except for VR players.

I remember seeing some comments on YouTube when Streets of Rage 4 trailers went first went up. “No Yuzo Koshiro, no buy.” Yes, his music was a huge part of why SOR games rocked but to completely write a game off because peeps didn’t know if he would be involved in the music seems pretty effed up. And yeah, he did the bulk of SOR2’S music, but a few of that game’s most fire beats, Max Man, Jungle Base, Expander, were written by Motohiro Kawashima. Just sucks that Yuzo tends to get all the credit when it comes to SOR music when he had help on the 2nd and 3rd games.

Well, looks like they found a way to shut these “No Yuzo Koshiro, no buy” people up by including the OSTs to SOR 1&2. Pretty slick feature, though the omission of SOR3 OST kinda feels like a diss. I get that the game’s music wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I didn’t even think it was bad. I enjoyed a lot of that OST and it stings to see it get left out in SOR4.

The retro mode and original OST’s are almost enough for me to get it. If I do it’ll be on switch.

Kinda wish they’d have an arrange mode too of the old school OST. But I won’t be greedy, Retro mode single handedly made me wanna buy SoR4, I wasn’t interested prior

They got Koshiro to comeback and compose some of the tracks IIRC.

Yeah…I was going to pass on day one’ing it.

Now I may actually get the limited physical edition.

Oh. I have no intention of Day 1’ing it. I won’t get it until it’s on a pretty deep discount.

I don’t even like SoR that much. It’s music is absolute fire but from a gameplay perspective it’s not really even close to one of my favorite beat em ups.

There are other beat em ups i play that I know are “worse” but I just simply enjoy how they play more.

Oh I noticed when I looked up composer credits for SOR4. I was under the impression peeps wanted Yuzo to score all, if not most of the game.

I wasn’t interested in retro mode until learning it applied to the music. Now I want to throw money at SoR4. Give that 16-bit ear sex.

I listened to the Final Fantasy VII Remake Mini Soundtrack. I get the feeling some folks will think tracks from the original FFVII are superior but I really like what I’ve heard from these arrangements. Aerith’s theme sounds so freaking beautiful and they did not disappoint with Hurry!

Had to just go with my gut and bought the Mayflash Magic NS. Hope it’s decent, fingers crossed. It allows you to wirelessly use Dualshock 4, Xbox One S and Switch Pro controllers on Switch, PS3 and PC interchangebly. It also, and more importantly, will let me use my Hori on Switch and PS3.

Should be here Saturday. I’ll tell ya’ll what I think once it arrives. I’m hoping input delay isn’t an issue on my stick, but at the very least it’ll be sick to be able to use my Dualshock on Switch.

At least the Dual Sense seems larger, so thats one positive about it. Well, unless your in law enforcement
In that case there are two positives, the second being its colored like a squad car. When I first saw that thing, I reached for my license and registration.
