SamSho would’ve gotten into EVO 2019 regardless since they have a tendency to include new titles, provided they’re made by a bigger company or have a sizable community. DOA6 is kind of a wild case here only because of the core values controversy at EVO JP earlier that year, and it being left out was completely fucking stupid on the orgs, punishing an entire playerbase for just one incident that took place on a totally separate tournament
I like how Capcom announced that all further development on DMC5 was seized (no Turbo, no DLCs, no playable Vergil, unknown if they’re holding out until nextgen to make a Special Edition or whatever) and just went all-in on making a NINTENDO SWITCH PORT of DMC3 including all these crazy features
My main issue with it is that the game just looks ugly, “dirty” and unpolished. From character designs to set pieces. It’s just…it’s not pleasing to look at in any way.
Other complaints are that The combat looks hella generic. The story feels uninspired as well. I love Kamala Khan is the main narrative character but man…that’s not enough for me to want it.
Yea these updates to 3 are actually kind of pissing me off because I have V right here and would gladly buy new content for it. I’m not really gassed to play through 3 again so none of these updates do anything for me. I already beat that game into the ground like 10-15 years ago. Adding multiplayer (local) to a game that doesn’t need it and will probably be ok at best, meanwhile the game with actual online multiplayer match making and an enemy set that could give two players a decent run for their money is stuck with its crappy 3 or so co-op missions and nothing else. Bloody Palace which was an easy as fuck shoe in for multuiplayer is still this single player affair.
I dunno the situation seems really dumb. Why are they pouring resources into a 20 year old game instead of supporting the new one they just fucking released and was super popular? Wtf are you doing Capcom?
I am going to chalk this up to a Super Bomberman R scenario.
Capcom had little hopes for DMC V, so development was finite before it even dropped and it exceeded expectations. With DMC 3, I think the team actually doing the porting and development are going beyond what was normally expected and they may have gotten some backing to make this one the best port since it is considered the best game until recently. Capcom by themselves wouldn’t do all this, these changes are labors of love for DMC3 that the developers have.
This is kind of an interesting peak inside the mind of casual players in fighting games, and what I assume goes through their heads on a daily basis.
I’m sure I don’t need to warn everyone about the cringe. Gameranx should just kinda like, not talk about fighting games. It’s never a fun time. I enjoy some of their “lists” videos from time to time, but this is just… Oof.
It’s always kinda funny to see these gaming journalism websites talk about fighting games, now that I think about it. It’s usually never someone with a lot of experience with these games. Then you get these hilarious situations, like IGN writing a Smash Ultimate article that has such a massive dump of misinformation that they got bullied into taking it down entirely. Or the guy that wrote that infamous DBFZ article with his own made up tier list, where he said GT Goku “isn’t anything to write home about”.
